The police must be commended for the recent arrest made in connection with the recent senseless killings in Kumasi. Giving the right impetus I have no iota of doubt that police can measure up to the task no matter how mountainous their task may be. The care taker IGP must be commended that his recent visit to Kumasi is paying some dividends. What I think is responsible for this killings is the laxity on the part of Kumasi police. Why do I say so? The white man in his own wisdom in their statutes did not allow a police officer to spend more than four years at one station. The reason? Such an officer after four years at one particular station/Region has become a native and eventually has become ineffective due to his/her affiliations with the people. What do we see nowadays? Many of the officers, were posted to the region right from depot and many have risen through the ranks to the point of even superintendents. How effect will these people be in terms of policing and superintending crime investigations?Their Police Service Regulation, 2012 (C.I. 76) Regulation 38 under the title Transfer and postings subregulation 4 states inter alia that an officer SHALL not serve in any Region continuously for more than ten years or at a station for more than five years. If the IGP really mean business then he should put this regulation into immediate force and many of the crime will be reduce if not eradicated. It will be surprise to hear many of the police in the region I mean Ashanti retorting that if I'm transferred I will pay what it takes to have the transfer cancelled. Were such one recruited to police at one place? Your guess for their motive is good as mine.

The police led the way by senselessly murdering people they call suspects and making up stupid stories for the media. Now people have seen it and they're beginning to emulate their "exemplary" leadership.
