It is not surprising then that the NDC MP for the area is conniving and colluding with this Australian company as well as illegal Chinese immigrants to destroy the area through the environmentally dangerous form of mining now being undertaken all over the Western Region.

The very object which could have attract people to the place is no more there so what is he talking about. Who said Nkoroful is a heritage site? what does see in the place to call it as such. come to the place and see things yourself if you really know what you are talking about. And as we all know, most lands supposedly belong to the chiefs. So the question to the CPP ought to go to the chiefs and the town folks. Who is being stupid here? Is it the ignorant people or is it a company who have done its homework and known the people to be gullible or glib and thus want to take advantage? If CPP looks carefully they will find a Ghanaian citizen, even an MP fronting for this Australian company. Most in Ghana have never understood the difference between leasing and selling outright. As such Ghanaians have given up their rights to leave something worth a dime to the next generation by selling off land and property that has been in families over the years.
At Osu, Labone and Labadi in Accra, many of the prime real estate lands were sold to Lebanese for chicken feed. I dare anyone in Ghana, from President Mahama on down to go to Lebanon and find a piece of farm land that is owned by a Ghanaian and I will eat crow. We have sat around in Ghana and seen people from every Godforsaken place on earth come to Ghana to own land at the expense of the working living poor in Ghana. Are we not the cursed fools when our own parliament cannot and will not understand that there is nothing more precious than land? We must not allow poverty to sway us into giving it up for sheer silliness. For those who may make the case for free market principles I say let your free market ideology reign within rules and not in a vacuum. In the civilized western worlds where they entertain free market principles such the USA, UK, Canada and others their respective legislators have blocked the sale of business interests the respective countries deemed such a sale would be detrimental to either national security or some other national interest. So you see, it is not everything that is subject to the free market slogan; there are limits after all.
