Kwame Nkrumah (21 September 1909 - 27 April 1972) was the first President of the first free nation in Africa, and a founding father of the Pan-Africanist movement.

His dream was to turn Ghana into a modern industrial utopia - a society shaped by the power of science that would serve as a model for the rest of the African continent. At the heart of his plan was the Volta Dam, a Hydro-electric power plant that would provide Ghana with all the cheap power that it would need to initiate an industrial revolution. He completed the building of the Dam commisioned on 22nd january 1966, less than a year on 24th February 1866, was overthrown by military coup supported by the criminals of U.P helped by the Imperialist. The Dam worked well, but the Western Industialist fail to materialized it.

We have the responsibility to resist nation-wreckers of all stripes and their wicked, evil, selfish schemes. We have the responsibility also of imparting the values that defined the Osagyefo to our children. We owe it to ourselves to inspire and prepare these new generations to carry forth boldly the vision of the Osagyefo, as adapted to today's realities.

The OAU was the brain child of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. In fact Nkrumah was the protagonist of the idea of the erstwhile OAU now AU. So like any architect he masterminded the master plan for its execution but that was short circuited by his antagonist who were stooges of the imperialist both internally Ghanaians and Africans and externally foreign powers who wanted to keep the status quo by exploiting Africa’s wealth and leaving us underdeveloped. So in a sense we are our own enemies by collabrating with those whose interest is to Keep us down. It is an irony that Kwame Nkrumah was loathed whilst alive but loved after his demise. What a shame!

In the inaugural ceremony speech in Addis Abeba in 1963 Kwame Nkrumah made his case and presented his blue print moving forward. The road map to Africa’s redemption is still there for posterity to share and implement. For Nkrumah had a simple believe and credo which is forward ever; backward never. We need enlightenment and that can come about through EDUCATION; EDUCATION; EDUCATION.

“The resources are there. It is for us to marshal them in the active service of our people. Unless we do this by our concerted efforts, within the framework of our combined planning, we shall not progress at the tempo demanded by today’s events and the mood of our people. The symptoms of our troubles will grow, and the troubles themselves become chronic. It will then be too late even for Pan-African Unity to secure for us stability and tranquility in our labours for a continent of social justice and material well-being. Unless we establish African Unity now, we who are sitting here today shall tomorrow be the victims and martyrs of neo-colonialism” Kwame Nkrumah

The paradox of Africa is quite clear. The African continent possess 56 percent of the total wealth of the world and yet this great continent is plagued with illiteracy, disease, poverty and all the negative things that goes to feed or become fodder for western press. The shackles which has been keeping Africa backward financially, economically; industrially and above all to defeat poverty would have been a thing of the past if Africans had heeded to the evolutional revolution that was propagated by Kwame Nkrumah. The architect is no more but his genial master plan or blue print is still available waiting to be implemented. All that the present crop of African leaders have to do is to put their egos behind them and become governors of their various countries by allowing the formation of a true African Union with Finance, defense and foreign policy being executed from Addis Abeba the capital of Africa.

The vision and mission of Kwame Nkrumah are well documented in his books and are a real testimony which best manifest his ideas and ideals. The AXIOMS of Kwame Nkrumah are true today as it were 50 years ago. The ingenuity of and practicality of the greatest son of Africa has been meticulously scripted in his books. No African leader has been able to do such a great work not by raising only questions but by also providing the solutions to our woes. Kwame Nkrumah the Mahogany tree cut short by the coup d'etat in 1966 still stands tall head and shoulders above all his antagonist. Kwame Nkrumah is a true genius and indeed never dies.

Every single infastructure he intend instituting in Ghana is being criticized by the U.P members, the opponet whom Nkrumah had defeated in the election, the planning of building Akosombo Dam is a dangerous trap, just another pysho in the British exploitation in the country.
In 1953, Nkrumah´s opponent forced him to debate about the Akosombo Dam in parliament. In the series of debate the opposition M.P´s warned that Nkrumah was dangering and slaving the country in a powerful interest beyond his control.
And I am saying it now that 1966 coup has undoubtedly destroyed the complete image of beautiful country Ghana.

A police officer sitting in the next booth heard their conversation and, having a chuckle, he thinks to himself, "I've got to see these two old-timers having sex against a fence. I'll just keep an eye on them so there's no trouble." So he follows them.

The elderly couple walks haltingly along, leaning on each other for support aided by walking sticks. Finally, they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence.

The old lady lifts her skirt and the old man drops his trousers. As she leans against the fence, the old man moves in. Then suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the policeman has ever seen. This goes on for about ten minutes while both are making loud noises and moaning and screaming. Finally, they both collapse, panting on the ground.
The policeman is amazed. He thinks he has learned something about life and old age that he didn't know.

After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on. The policeman, is still watching and thinks to himself, this is truly amazing, I've got to ask them what their secret is.

So, as the couple passes, he says to them, "Excuse me, but that was something else. You must've had a fantastic sex life together. Is there some sort of secret to this?" Shaking, the old man is barely able to reply, "Sixty years ago that wasn't an electric fence."

Congo is still burning. Somalia in turmoil. Liberia and Sierra Leone are still nursing the wounds of war. Libya is limping. Nigeria can't stop Boko Harem alone. Rwandans massacring each other. Famine in Chad, Sudan, Mauritania etc.

If Ghanaian leaders believe it's safe to be surrounded with countries in such turmoil and economic despair then this is an erroneous belief. Our leaders must at least work hard to develop a more integrated Ecowas.

Nkrumah should have used the skills he had to develop his nation to the envy of all. You do not go out trying to unite a continent at that time when some nations are a too raw to understand what is ahead of them. It would have been impossible for him and he knew it that he was fighting a losing battle because there is no way for the Western powers to relinquish their hold on the continent at that time.

How long did we fight the British before they let go their hold on us and why was he thinking that those European powers will just fold their mats and leave? Never. Even today, with our so-called independent, we still go to them like a child before his father.

Nobody is against African Unity but the question is, do we have the "will" to foster such a movement by uniting an entire continent?

Look at Ghana. There are some tribe that will support a monkey than supporting a human from the other side and the reason is best known to them. Now, if such a mentality can exist in Ghana, why do we think it will be convenient to unite a continent which harbor some knuckleheads like that?

Ghana, as we speak, is polarized and the reason is best known to us how then can a huge continent like Africa, can be united under a single leadership? Hogwash.

Ghana or AFRICA will surely reach there and God knows it, so if you do not teach your kids right to work for Ghana or Africa's interests as it will be required of them and think they can go against it , they gonna be the ones in jail. They say mangos don't fall far from their trees. They way you think now is what your kids will be thinking in the future and a new political paradigm won't favor saboteurs and traitors. You may have rights to your opinions but if they're not mainstream with what Africa thinks is her best interests after all the humiliation and poverty it suffered, your opinions will be on the fringe of things and could get you or your kids in jail.
There're people in the US today who do not believe in paying taxes and other stuffs but sooner or latter the law catches up with them, and Africa too will be there one day.

And for CHINA to be where they are today as an envy to even the West who vilified them and called them all kinds of name in the '70s and '80s,- as they go there now and borrow money,- a lot of saboteurs and traitors have to be killed.
It is good that Nkrumah failed but his prophesy of wretchedness and poverty that followed for not heeding his call will make it work this time around as we all had witnessed the deceits of the enemies. Putting emotions and insults aside...Kwame Nkrumah put a lot of infrstructure in place; and the major structures of what you see today is what Nkrumah did. Noone else has made any major changes. I speak this to the Shame of all successive leaders (with the exception of the first two years of Gen Kutu Acheampong)

Examples of the infrastructure:
Tema Township: Planned with central sewerage. Compare to the latrines and suckaways in Accra the capital.
2. Akosombo Dam
3. Valco
4. GTP Textiles
5. Black Star Line
6. Ghana Black Stars and the feared and famous Republicans
7. Nsawam Cannery and many more.

I admit he might have been intolerant to opposition, and also perhaps more could have been done in terms of economic management.

However, the facts are clear, with all the leaders that we have had, NONE can compare in terms of development and infrastructure.

It is easy to say he did NOTHING, but there are FACTS to prove otherwise.

Forty-seven (47) years to the day, it is still lying in the pit not able to lift itself up.

What a Visionary. 50 years on we are still being exploited with the help, this time, of our own 'leaders' who don't appear to have a clue about what they are about (sorry, they know how to fill Swiss Bank Accounts with the loot from Public coffers). The 'oil rush' is on in Africa and all the Oil Major are leap frogging each other to grab what they can. In Ghana for instance, the split of the Jubilee Oil Field was 10.5% to Ghana and 3.5% to two Ghanaians- Owusu and Edusei ( members of the NPP-corrupt idiots).

Since Nkrumah's speech 50 years ago, Africa has fallen behind the rest of the world by another 50 years and the colonialist through huge multinationals are plundering Africa with the help of our clueless leaders. Nkrumah had vision. Name one African leader today whose vision extends beyond his pocket?

The issues raised by Kwame 50 years ago are still relevant for Africa!
Who now can champion the cause of Africa like Kwame wanted or moved his colleagues to agree with him at that time?
Travelling among Africans still choked with visas,etc!
Oh Kwame, you lived far ahead of your age - hence you were misunderstood. Your short-sighted colleagues did not see the need, the importance to buy into your vision for Africa - a continent of one people and a common destiny!

I have read Nkrumah's inaugural OAU speech and hereby comment as follows.

This is a great speech. It is interesting to note that the fears of not having the Unity at the proposed time have come upon us, Africans. Clearly, this delay is a victory to the neo-colonialist and a shame to African leaders.

I believe the speech has not lost its relevance today and African leaders of today should use it as the blue-print to get Africa unitied as a matter of urgency. It is interesting to note Dr. Kwame Nkrumah sounded very selfless in his speech in indicating that the 'capital' of Africa should be central in location, suggesting Bangui or Leopoldville and not Accra and also calling for united Africa where we all move together and the strong controlling the weak states.

How great is the call for us not be seen as citizens of independent African states but Africans. Oh, that African leaders today will avoid the great mistake of the founding fathers of OAU mand put their shoulders to the wheel of Africa unity!. It must be noted that selfishness and deceipt by neo-colonialists played a role in the failure of the founding fathers and these still pose a threat to the unity today. However, the African leaders today must do Africa a great service by putting their own interest and flirting with neo-colonialists behind them and putting the interest of the African people first. Also, the strong states of Africa must be readily willing to a support the weak states. I have observed a truth too hard to explain and it is this "the amount of food that satisfy people when they eat together from the same bowl will not satisfy them if shared and eating individually". To this end, let the strong
States be willing to share with the weak
States from the same bowl,; the bowl of united Africa. In this way it will not be difficult for the United Africa to come into being.

If Dr. Kwame Nkrumah saw his time as the time for Africa unity then it is even more today than when it was first conceived. With today's world powers being rocked with various crisis, this is the time for Africa to liberate itself through unification. A united Africa will have the world at its mercy; African leaders must not believe the lies and deception of the so-called first-world countries as they are on their knees now through various crisis which is not going to end anytime soon. If African leaders fail to act now, these 'first-world' countries will finish Africa as they will ransack it in their quest to solve their crisis.

Let me end with these few thoughts of mine.

Africa is very dear to God and it is high time Africans accepted this.

1. Africa was used to save the then known world from hunger in the days of Joseph.

2. Africa served as incubator to multiple the children of Israel.

3. Africa was used as a hideout for the baby Jesus when king Herod sought to destroy Him.

It is no wonder that God has:

a. Placed Africa at the centre of the continents (the world).

b. Given Africa such wonderful protection from great natural disasters which we can all attest to.

c. To this end, on my own behalf and on behalf of Africa, I say Lord God Almighty thank you! Let the people of Africa say God thank you.

Hmmm. great man indeed. l still don't understand how other Africa freedom fighter like Patrice Lumumba, Julieus Nyerere etc in different countries saw the wisdom in Kwame Nkrumah and supported him but his own Ghanaians people ( Kotoka, Afrifa , Ankra, Dankwa - Bussia etc) could allow themselves be bribed to overthrow him.

What annoys is their inability to even develop Ghana but only giving useless excuses, turning back to these wicked colonial masters.
