All nationals outside their countries know what taxes denote when it comes to revenue generation to countries they reside in. Let us generate revenues, pay taxes and stop corruption, then we see where it takes us (Hope to the betterment of Ghana).

Ghanaians do not have a social security number. They use their friends and family abroad as ATM machines,insurance policies, and as welfare fund operators. How do you monitor? When we are building homes and propping up the economy, our politicians and pastors are greedy and corrupt and chopping money meant for the ordinary people.

Ghanaians in Ghana should learn to pay tax and Govt. should manage our resources better instead of targeting Ghanaians living in the Diaspora. I would not bother going for holidays in Ghana if I risk being arrested. This is ridiculous.

Collection of this tax will be very easy to handle -simply pay your tax at the Ghana Embassy and show your receipt upon arrival at KIA or at any of the entry points into Ghana.

I hazard to say, that many meaningful Ghanaian Citizens living abroad will be willing to pay such a Tax proviso: 1. Ghanaian Embassies Abroad demonstrate that they are there in the respective Countries to oversee the Diplomatic Interest of Ghana and its citizens abroad. The present non-nonchalant posture of our Embassies over the years, had implanted the negative feelings on the minds of Citizens abroad that the Embassies exist just to arrange visits for the President, Ministers and other dignitaries. Over the years , there had not been any conscious efforts to even be communicating with citizens, either directly or indirectly. You go on the various Embassy sites on the internet' and the latest piece of news posted, is about two years ago. The Embassies are not even showing any amount of seriousness to have Ghanaian Citizens Abroad adequately registered in their Records. 2).There is a huge "Trust Deficit" for the Country's governance System; from the bottom to Top. This feeling on the part of our Citizens living Abroad is been exacerbated by the numerous scandals of judgement debts unravel ling in the country. All these, coupled with the non-existence of any reliable database to ensure accountability, makes it quite dissuading for many citizens Abroad to buy into the idea, that they should pay Tax at least for now!

This your propose taxation method will only be effective if congress agree on your proposal to give Ghanaians in USA a reduce tax rate. This enable us to pay our tax through USA IRS. However, I don't think congress will ever agree on your proposal because USA government need money more than any other country in the world. I believe strongly that more revenue can be generated in Ghana if corruption among revenue collection agencies curb.

there are big businesses that do not pay tax but are walking freely on ghanaian soil.
When you manage to acrue huge diasporan tax for the nation, what is the guarantee that it would not be used in paying judgement debts, or be used in buying votes or be used in freely paying international companies for no work done.Did the govt play any role for your visa
Look at the cold weather condition you live in. I would advice that mobilise resources, come and open an industry and create employment, that way you would be helping mother than what you intended.
Ship a vehicle to your country and if you are not able to pay duties on time and your vehicle is confiscated and sold cheaply to our politicians, its only there and then that prudently its worth not paying tax.
