First, it is possible that Afari Gyan having witnessed all the Akufo Addo opulence at Legon, could say, oh!, that rich guy and he still wants to be president. No way, not under my rule. On the other hand, Nana Akufo Addo could say, Ah! that guy who had nothing at Legon now holds my political destiny in his hands (which is not true, any way), so when things did not go well for him, he could throw accusations against Afari Gyan?

Just wondering, because and as Nhyiraba said, people/friends change over time.

You will be mistaken to assume that being president of Ghana is for peanuts. Ghana is a goldmine for politicians and that is why some of them borrow huge sums of money just to enter parliament. Have you ever seen a poor politician in Ghana?

I did not really seen the need to bring Ato Ahwoi into this equation.

The opening paragraph states, “I came to serve; I have finished my time here on earth and have moved on to everlasting rest and celestial duties with my heavenly father.”

The immediate question is; how did the dead man come to sign his own personal tribute, since he is already in heaven?

As regards Dr Afari-Gyan and Nana Addo, you should at least respect Dr Afari-Gyan's integrity and professionalism, and the fact that he works as head of the Electoral Commission with lots of other people, so he could not even steal an election for anyone even if he wanted to. He certainly would not want to tarnish his hard-won reputation.

The truth is that Dr Afari-Gyan could not steal an election for anyone even if he wanted to. He sits at the apex of the Electoral Commission and declares results which have been approved by his staff and the representatives of the political parties, as well as his commissioners.

It is interesting that Nana Addo at the last NPP rally before the election referred to the fact that he had been room-mates with Dr Afai-Gyan and knew him well. He was implying that Dr Afari-Gyan could be relied upon to deliver a fair result in the election.

The pink sheet has all the evidence, at the end of the day if the errors where more that reasonable then the SC can annul the results. It is simple like that.

They will use the EC laws to cross check the claim of malpractices/irregularities/theft. So far,it has become crystal clear that there was mistakes as admitted by Afari; further cross-examination will expose the extent of it and finally the SC will double check it with how it should have been done. Putting all party affiliations aside and looking at the case from the chairman, it is obvious he was negligent of his responsibility as the EC chairman and that comes with consequences. The election was poorly conducted, and gave room to indiscipline acts of transposing someone's result for another.
Banks have auditors that audits the work of the bank and if the bank manager is caught with transpositional errors; he or she gets fired. It is as simple like that. So in the same light, Afari could be deposed and the election results annulled or re-run at worse for the parties.

Nana should reconsidered that. The suit is not against Dr Afari Gyan nor Mr Ato Ahwoi but against EC. What I don't understand in Ghana is when there is a case against an opposition, it is very hard to associate with each other as if they're fighting.

So what do say about that. Yes, Akuffo-Add0, Afari Gyan and Ato Ahowia may be best friend their political reasoning may be far apart. Whilst those two gentlemen sold their conscience and followed a military dictator -Rawlings, Akuffo-Addo mustered the courage to challenge the P/NDC government. Well I want to inform the writer that no amount of propaganda will help here at this moment the expectation of every Ghanaian is to get a fair judgement at the end of the process. Remember Rawlings and the PNDC chose coup d'état to remove Dr Hilla Liman in 1979. That is the moral difference here. You should also ask yourself if Afari Gyan is "clean" why did NDC took him to the same Supreme Court in 2005?

He also took advantage of the peaceful nature of the larger Ghanaian population and one could see his posturing before and during the election. What I found so fickle about his presentation during his first appearance was his explanation on 10% extra ballots which I think a JHS student will not be convinced by such explanation. 10% of 25 ballots in a booklet will be 2.5 and round it up to 3 extra making 28 ballots in a booklet and the rest will not be difficult say 50 and 100 so there is something mischievous about such arrangement. I pray that the Justices can see through all these. At your age you allow Mr. Asiedu Nketiah and President Mahama to lure you into such a disgraceful act.

this is the most useless and biased article i have read on this site.Is this this writer trying to say if someone feels unfairly treated he or she should just accept things as they are because of friendship. do you know the amount of money spent on elections by political party. htis ignorant writer should also know that Nana doesn't own NPP and therefore cannot make unanimous decisions for the party. i think this ignorant writer is just up to tarnish the image of Nana and unnecessary instigation. the article should removed immediately unless of course the site is apolitical site

Its good you have drawn our attention to this hidden but true relationship between Akuffo Addo and Dr.A Gyan.Some of the issues at hand,do not be surprised might have happened at the blind side of Dr. Gyan and therefore the only appropriate forum to address this issue is the law courts.Here Afari Gyan cannot on his own accord resolve this problem because it is treated as a national issue not one-to-one.More so this proplem at the end of the day would enlighten all parties involved:NPP,NDC, the EC and the populace at large on electioneering processes.Personally I have learnt a lot from this court case.I do not think people will take election process for granted after tis court case.IT IS A LEARNING CURVE!!!!
