In fact like all western oriented capitalist-minded thieving African politicians, he hated socialism and all that it stood for. The lack of socialism gives them the free and open pretext to loot. That is the real reason that he eventually killed or hounded the truthfully honest socialist boys (not the fakes ones like Tsatsu, Totobi, ET Mensah, the Awhois etc) who were involved in the sham revolution, out of the country into exile.

In any case, socialism, like any religion or any other philosophy, can be espoused by anyone for honest or opportunistic purposes. The real adherents can be sifted from the fraudulent and counterfeit ones at the end of the day.
