Why did Ghana not plunge into civil war or break up during ther years our neighbours were do so??? JJ did do a lot for mother Ghana!! If for nothing, the greedy and the so called rich and faceless opportunities would have taken Ghanaians for a ride!!! Ghanaians through JJ's pragmatic devolution of political power from the vagabond "elites" the ordinary people are into politics and paving a better way for posterity. To write of JJ is like telling Ghanaians, there is nothing to write home within the 20 years of JJ's rule!! That cannot be the natural truth being peddled by the against people and the skin pain who just hate JJ for no apparent reason. Leave our ears alone. Distortion of our history to make some nobodies more important today that the sacrifice of JJ on the Ghanaian political landscape cannot be wished away. Is this Bature man of all people who supported and defended the Rawlings and his tyrant corruptly criminal NDC all along, today accusing the same Rawlings for Ghana's social economic and developmental mess? Since when in the eyes of Bature, Rawlings became a bad man?

Anyway, with time all shall know who collapsed our country and brought our once enviably peaceful and happy country, Ghana on her knees.

Rawlings was indeed fake, con, hungry man who in a bloody coup, violently overthrew a Northerner led democratically elected government on 31st December 1980, took the entire people and country hostage by the gun, and killed to enrich himself and his heartless bitch of a wife, including criminal kinsmen and poor campus cronies like the Tsatsu Tsikatas who are all the super rich in our country today.

Rawlings, though with all the huge properties and wealth dubiously gotten by killing should be the most unhappy and most disturbed man in the country.

Compare and contrast 19 YEARS of anarchy,stagnation and "Rawlings Chain" around the necks of Ghanaians, The brutality against the civilians, The killing of our nobles for being "rich" and therefore enemies to the so called revolution; beating and humiliating women in the public; killing of The Judges etc.etc. VRS 8 YEARS of Kuffour's rule of law and freedom of speech; healthcare, education, commerce etc.

Alhaji Bature's sentiments are well taken. Rawlings' had an enviable opportunity to instill probity,accountability and patriotism during his long and tumultuous rule but he dropped the ball due to his own failures to resist the temptations that drive African leaders to be greedy and corrupt.He initially posed a sterner front to change the status quo but I guess the opportunities to become wealthy were too easy to ignore.So once he indulged in them together with his loud mouth wife,others who vicariously had access to power joined the looting and we were back to square one.
I do believe,though,he chalked up some successes in the promulgation of a free press to some extent,and free expression and associations of Ghanaians. I wonder if he would offer himself for a thorough probe as to what his family and himself have accumulated directly or indirectly as the result of his historic rule of Ghana.His push to include the so called "indemnity provision" in our present constitution undermines his sincerity in eschewing his claims of the abdication of the goals of the June 4th Revolution.A lesson for all of us is that we cannot allow one man/woman to run our country for such a long time again because of the overwhelming temptations to be corrupt,and I'm not holding brief for such behaviors either.
Anyway,blaming Rawlings for working with the IMF and the world Bank is foolhardiness.Ghana had no business owning the means of production.It has been demonstrated overwhelmingly across the economic borders of nations, albeit developed ones,that State ownership of industries and economic activities fall way shot of expected goals because those who run such institutions have no monetary stake in them hence their commitment is usually highly discounted.The fact that Rawlings' wife might have benefited from the sales of those under performing State Enterprises is no reason to reject outright the sensible economic narrative behind those decisions to sell.There is a commonsense rationale behind limiting government management of various economic activities.Its simply because those who are entrusted to run them have no capital risks involved so they just don't give a damn.When one risks his/her hard earned money or capital in establishing a business,the tendency to see it prosper heightens.Its that simple.
As to whether we have drifted from the goals of the June 4th revolutions,there is no doubt that such is the case because the whole exercise lacked the proper foundation and unfortunately our dear motherland is paying dearly for it as Ghanaians look on impotently and immobilized whilst expecting Divine intervention.Good luck,people!!!

Is the revolution the cause of the corruption, widespread indiscipline,tribalism and nepotism and the other prevalent social vices. We all saw happenings during the revolution and what is happening today.
