My times over the years, I have insisted that the mismanagement and dysfunctional Accra society was caused by all the open market places, all the illegal residents from our rural communities, all the influx of aimless neighbors of West Africa, North Africans and now the Rural and dejected Chinese Citizens, which has created the overabundance of tro tros and taxis, human debris, human bodies, and a whole lot of uncivilized consequences. After recognizing our terrible culture of sympathy for evildoers, sympathy for filthy people and sympathy for any destructive habits, I comcluded that the only way to change Accra was for the entire city to burn down and displace all these human waste.

I was in Kumasi in 2011 when a Tuo Safi seller near the railways inside the Kumasi market left a coal-pot with fire on overnight. Some rotten pieces of wood fell from the ceiling of her stall into the fire and that's what caused over 200 stalls to burn into ashes.

Even a monkey living in Congo forest can tell you it's congestion and carelessness that's causing all these fires but NDC idiots like Kwabena Agyei looking for victims to blame instead of finding solutions, will sit stupid till more fire outbreaks cause more losses. NDC Nkwaseafuo !!!

Once the issue becomes politicised, then you should know that nothing will come out of any commitees or investigation that is carried out. The government, not ruling out arson should also consider other factors like illegal electricity connections, cooking at the market with propane gas and coal pots. Do these markets have any policies on where not to sell explosives? The government needs to investigate these fires but should not politicize this.

Sad day for Ghana to hear leading members of our political parties address the issues this way instigating hatred. Of the number of fires within this period of time in the central business district is quite strange but to blame it on the NPP is a very lazy and dangerous approach to the situation. A walk through the markets alone tells you that it is not a surprise that something like that happened. The markets need to be re-engineered. We need to make it less congested and electrical lines need to be properly laid out. We need to know where combustibles are instead of waist our efforts at making statements of hatred we need to put our heads to proper use.

while i agree that the spate of these recent fires cannot be a normal occurrence, i am strongly inclined to believe that it has everything to do with the power fluctuations going on in the country. let us not forget that these power on and off sometimes come with high voltage that make some of our gadgets vulnerable. most of these gadgets are outdated and does not have the inbuilt stabilizers to control power surges. this can easily trigger fire. i think we need to be circumspect and address the issues objectively. it is easy to point accusing fingers but hey it may be pointing at the wrong direction.

I think we have stopped using our God given brains in light of the political developments. I have few questions.

Why markets and not other places?

What happened?

The fires started just as the new government took office. But we all know that new governments do not set fire to markets. Else America and those countries that have been changing governments would have perished from earth long time ago. So it cannot be political!!!.

What happened to change the situation?
There have been power outages for some time now. When you switch off power off and on, there is something called surge that puts stress on the whole system and the wires. It is like switching on a high pressure water valve that supplies a whole area whereas most of the taps are closed and a few are open. The pressure generated can burst the pipe and cause flooding or pools. It is the same with electricity!!!. When the powers are off most people switch of their switches. Thus when the power comes on, those that are on carry high pressure and can potentially catch fire especially if the wires are weak and not technically made.

Why the markets and not elsewhere?
I bel;ieve we all know how the wiring is done in the markets. One switch can control everything in a shop or a stall. The wiring is done by the shopkeepers themselves to no specification!!. Those lights are on day and night because people even sleep there. There is therefore a gradual weakening of the connections and make them easily catch fire. Can you recollect the ten year old boy who died in Kasoa a few weeks ago when he was connecting electricity for the mother's kiosk? You expect it not to catch fire when there is electricity surge? If you doubt, when you go home, switch off all your gadgets and leave one. Switch on and off several times and see if the bulb will not blow. It blows because it caught fire in a protected environment!!!!. It would have caught fire it were exposed like wire.
You don't need Phd degree to understand this.

Let ECG go to the markets, inspect the connections, disconnect the illegal ones and educate the people.

No NPP, NDC or God is causing this!!

A word to the wise is enough. God has given us brains to think like the others who developed are doing. I don't think he can be giving us simple instructions to the seven billion people every second that is the reason for the brain.

Nobody needs to be apprehended before conclusion like this can be drawn. Those behind this dastard acts plan their acts in such a manner that they will not be found. So if the government wants to apprehend, then they forget it and allow the country to be burnt.
If I were in charge of this country, strict and tight measures will be put in place to make it difficult for the people involve to carry out their plans.
Measures that can be envisaged are; allow business in the market between say 8am to 5pm,plant spies in the market at ''odd'' times of the day. Duriing crisis periods, we dont do things normally. Contingensy steps are adopted to deal with the situation. Sometimes, I feel disappointed at the way things are done by the government. If they lack ideas then, there is no point in keeping them where they are so that those capable of handling the situation can take over.
Officials of government should begin to think out of the box otherwise, they should forget about it.

NDC and their goons followers are rather responsible for the fires because they have planned to remove the market from the center of the city and the only way is the set the market ablaze. Since they cannot use commonsense to make such removal of the market from the city center, the only option left is to use brute force despite the huge loses of peoples property.

Now my question is, of what benefit will it make for an NPP to these market fires? Is it not the NDC who want to claim the land in order to rebuild an ultra modern markets or railway terminals etc? So how would it benefit an NPP to set fire to these markets? Plus we need not forget that NPP is the most peaceful party in Ghana, while NDC is the direct opposite. All I'm saying is, it is the NDC who have a direct benefit to the land reclamation and as such, would mastermind the fire outbreaks in all the markets. They came only to steal, destroy and to kill. I request the Government officials to ask themselves the following questions:
whether the electrical wires in our traditional markets have not over stayed their use, which require new ones to enable the cables meet the required load . since overloading can easily cause fire
ii. whether the markets are not over crowded, with each market woman illegally doing their own electrical connections.
The government should think of constructing new markets to meet increasing markets women. These and more other problems facing our markets, which are the causes of the fire.

It is pathetic and unfortunate that somebody in Dr Kwabena Adjei's calibre could acuse the OPPOSITION NPP as being behind the recent spate of fire outbreaks in Accra and for that matter, Ghana. Will he also attribute the rain on wednesday night that FLOODED some parts of Accra to the opposition NPP?. I will wait for his answer. Instead of doing proper investigations to unravel the cause of these fires and find lasting solutions to them, people who are supposedly learned and should know better are the very ones who go to 'market' with falsehoods and unproven allegations. Do they think these wild allegations will help solve the problems?. Sometimes, it sad to know that these so called educated elites were educated in the western world and as such should have learned something which they could transfer to their country but this is on the contrary. I wonder whether they were living in the remotest cottages in the foreign countries they had their education. But even with that, they should have learned something transferable. If we are to go by the statement by the Accra police service that they have arrested some security personnel to assist in their investigation and that these security personnel have said that they heard a big bang from a hairdressing saloon in the market just before the fire outbreak. Based on this account, why cant people like Kwabena Adjei wait for the police preliminary investigation before going out to the public with his nonsense. Why are we Ghanaians always want to score cheap political points with national disasters such as this.

Please politicians, let the police do their investigations and please President Maham, give the police free hand to do their job rather involving the USELESS NATIONAL SECURITYin the investigation of this issues. Why national security Mr President? is it because you have no confidence in the Ghana police?. Or is it because you have a hidden agenda which could only be hatched by the national security. Probably they are the ones who can implicate innocent opposition members for you. It is about time we put partisan politics aside and tackle issues in the country.Touching on the flood at say Gbawe, it is unfortunate that the road to bank quarters at Gbawe has no bridge. And some body has constructed a house in the water way where a bridge should be constructed so the house blocks the water when it rains thereby causing flooding.
Please politicians, lets for once think of Ghanaians and put national interest above personal interest. Ghanaians are fed up with these political NONSENSE non-performing of the duties assigned to state officials. Whenever they open their big mouths,they pollute the air with vengeful boasts to score political points which do not put food on the table to feed millions of Ghanaians who go to bed without food.Kwabena Adjei is one of the mediocre leaders who thinks all is well with the people,-you are wrong,there is anger in the country and as the saying goes,-a hungry man is an angry man.The arsonist/arsonists must be caught before you are set on fire.You are just a corrupt politician-let the police do their work.The arsonist/arsonists could be an NDC disgruntled foot soldier/soldiers or an NPP nutter.It is silly and nonsense to politicise the Makola fire outbreaks.The makola women are our daughters,sisters and mothers and as individuals,they are entitle to their political party of their choice.
