As a Ghanaian, sometimes I get worried why the supreme court should even entertain this case. Have we as nation thought of the ramifications should the verdict of Afari Gyan overturn? That verdict will be a new verdict and within 21 day the 4 million or so people who feels they've been denied their constitutional rights will have the option to go to court. We're creating a situation where EC can no longer hold elections in the country. How many people, especially those who have migrated to the urban cities will qualify to register if EC insist on prove of residence before registration. What will happen to all these shoe shine boys who sleep on the streets and cramp themselves in kiosks at night. We're living in dangerous times.

He is the last hope for John Mahama and he will do whatever to reduce the number of rigged votes. Panic hit Atuguba for knowing he loves John Mahama and cant help after hearing Afari Gyan confirming there were errors and over voting.
After auditing and NPP Mahamadu is right John Mahama must resign in a week max.

It beats my mind too what the latest varied order is meant to achieve. The Petitioners did not individually send their evidence to the Judges and the Respondents. Rather they sent all to the Registry to be served on all parties. If there are shortfalls in the distribution, who should be blamed, the Registry or the Petitioners? By the court accepting this 'control' measure, are they setting up the very court they lord over?
One set of documents cannot serve as control when it and other comparators are not independent. The copies that the Judges hold and the copies that the other parties hold all came from the same Registry. To settle this question will require all copies to be recalled and broken down into the individual parties. It is only after this that conclusive observations can be made. Otherwise, who is to say that the bailiffs failed to deliver all the copies? Incidentally, the EC and the NDC rejected the initial service because they claimed they were not complete. They only accepted on the second visit when the bailiffs brought all exhibits. Why do they turn round some days later to allege that they received incomplete exhibits? What is the cure in such circumstances? Usually you just request the missing copies from the Registry and don't make any fuss like we are seeing.

He also took advantage of the peaceful nature of the larger Ghanaian population and one could see his posturing before and during the election. What I found so fickle about his presentation during his first appearance was his explanation on 10% extra ballots which I think a JHS student will not be convinced by such explanation. 10% of 25 ballots in a booklet will be 2.5 and round it up to 3 extra making 28 ballots in a booklet and the rest will not be difficult say 50 and 100 and his definition of over voting as well as the scenario created by him on the NO BIOMETRIC VERIFICATION NO VOTE with the paramount chief so there is something mischievous about such arrangement. I pray that the Justices can see through all these. At your age you allow Mr. Asiedu Nketiah and President Mahama to lure you into such a disgraceful act

I think something is wrong with KPMG's audit.The best thing for them to do is to declare the results of the audit they got.There is no need at all going for a different set of pink sheets,it doesn't make sense to me.When the court gave them order to audit the pink sheets,it was based on disagreement between the 3 parties.Now that the auditing is completed,they should just go ahead and give their report to the Supreme Court,that's all.Thank you.

OTTAWA - The integrity of Canada's electoral process is at "serious risk"
due to rampant procedural errors made by polling officials, a report
commissioned by Elections Canada says.

The report blames overly complex rules and poorly trained polling officers
for "serious errors" in 54 per cent of the paperwork filled out during the
2011 federal election for electors who needed to prove their eligibility to
vote.

The report, by former British Columbia chief electoral officer Harry
Neufeld, includes the results of a national audit of the documentation
filled out for electors whose names were not on the list of registered
voters or who failed to bring the required identification with them to their
polling stations.

In those cases - about 15 per cent of electors - polling officials were
required to administer special procedures, such as the swearing of oaths or
having someone vouch for the voter's identity.

The audit found serious errors - the kind that can lead courts to overturn
election results - in 12 per cent of voter registration paperwork and in 42
per cent of vouching paperwork.

"The audit indicates that the applications of specific legal safeguards, in
place to ensure each elector is actually eligible to vote, were seriously
deficient in more than 165,000 cases due to systemic errors made by election
officials," the report says.

On average, that amounts to more than 500 serious administrative errors in
each of Canada's 308 ridings.

"Obviously, this is unacceptable," Neufeld concludes. "Aside from legal
concerns, public trust in proper administration of the electoral process is
at serious risk if these errors are not addressed."

Still, to keep the problems in perspective, the report notes that more than
12 million Canadians cast ballots on May 2, 2011, and irregularities
occurred in only 1.3 per cent of the cases.

Elections Canada commissioned the report six months ago amid controversy
over myriad procedural irregularities in the Toronto riding of Etobicoke
Lakeshore.

Borys Wrzesnewskyj, the Liberal incumbent who lost in 2011 to Conservative
Ted Opitz by a mere 26 votes, challenged the results in court. The Ontario
Superior Court found the irregularities sufficiently widespread that it
declared the result null and void.

However, the Supreme Court of Canada subsequently reversed that decision.

Neufeld says there are multiple causes of all the errors, among them the
reality that "200,000 election officers need to be recruited and trained,
most often for a single day's work that happens only once every few years."

That said, the "widespread consensus" among those interviewed by Neufeld was
that the rules governing special voting procedures are much too complicated.

Over the long term, he says the entire voting services model needs to be
overhauled. But since that can't be done in time for the next federal
election in 2015, he suggests some interim steps be taken to simplify the
process and ensure greater compliance with the rules.

Among other things, Neufeld recommends a campaign to encourage electors to
ensure they're on the voters' list prior to election day; putting a
supervisor in charge at every voting site; simplifying written instructions
for poll officers and better training for election officials.

In a written response to the report, chief electoral officer Marc Mayrand
accepts Neufeld's findings and says Elections Canada is working on
solutions.

"The compliance review (by Neufeld) has highlighted the vital role that
accuracy in electoral administration plays in public confidence in our
electoral system and the results it produces," Mayrand says.

"Elections Canada agrees with Mr. Neufeld's finding that significantly
improving rates of accuracy among election officers administering procedures
on election day requires a fundamental redesign of the current voting
services model."
