The case of the NPP is like a 'Donkey passing through the eye of a needle'.In Accounting we have a statement called the 'Trial Balance'. The Trial balance is made up of the totals of all the account balances standing in the original books of entry at a particular point in time.In principle the totals of all the debits and credits on the trial balance must balance because for every debit, there must be a corresponding credit.In a way, the trial balance is similar to the first part of the famous 'Pink Sheet'. In many instances, the Trail Balance may not balance in view of the errors the Accounting Officer may import into it.For example if the total creditors' balalnce standing in the books is GHC 12,842, the officer may erroneously transport GHC 21,842.We call this 'transposition error' and the trial balance would not balance(if there are no compensation errors). The Officer picked 21 instead of 12.The NPP calls this 'Over-voting' and therefore all the individual creditors balance standing in the books must be nullified!What a stupid statement.I am not teaching accounting here but this is to demonstrate how hollow the NPP case is.The Accounting Officer would look for the difference by checking the primary records.He knows the primary records are correct and the fact that his trial balance would not balance should not invalidate the creditors balance.The trial balance is not a 'Prime Book of Entry'.It is extracted from the prime books and the officer may make mistakes on the'FACE OF THE TRIAL BALANCE'.I would be worried if the NPP's case is that the Honourable court should order the rec-count of 11,842 polling station votes in the ballot boxes against the recorded number of ballot papers against each candidate on the second part of the so-called Pink Sheets.Why they did not ask for that relief,I do not know, may be you know it!In their affidavit, they never stated that the actual votes stated on the Collation Sheets are wrong.What they are saying is that in view of the so called infractions on the first part on the Pink sheets, some 11,138 polling station votes should be nullified.Dr. Afari Gyan declared the results based on figures stated on collation sheets which had gone through vigorous scrutiny in the hands of all party top shots at the collation centres and the EC strong room.Please leave this VERY HONEST MAN ALONE.Leave him to retire honourably with his integrity and honesty intact for he has done no wrong.

Unfortunately they are being challenged proper this time. NDC and NPP have both attempted to challenge election results since late 1990's,2000,2004,2008 and 2012. This time one party has followed up on their threat. Lets learn to do the right thing for once and stop turning a blind eye if it's in our favour and crying foul if it is against us. One day one day, we won't have a candidate who will rather seek redress in court but will choose to pick up arms.

He should have been in prison by now!! When that nonsense was repeated by their so-called NPP Secretary, when all election results had not come in, he was asking his party members to go to church on lies of "winning" should have also been arrested but for the intervention of the Peace Council!! These are series of efforts orchestrated by the NPP to thwart and hide their motive of cheating their way through and stealing the elections!! No way!!! 8 clear cut regions did not vote for the NPP!! NPP should give the Ghanaians a break from their cacophonous noise. The 2016 elections stare them again in their faces!!! If indeed he and his team are looking for the truth they could compel the EC to produce the original documents in contention to court so that they match those with what the petitioners have filed with the court so that if there is no merit they dismiss the case. Why I am saying this? as a lay man common sense will agree with mine submission. When Tsatsu Tsikata and other respondents were doing their cross examination the bench were lenient with them and even with his request for the count of the pink sheets was hurriedly granted and look at how the bench is trying to frustrate the petitioners council to the extent that Justice Atuguba in open court could say that the unwillingness of Tsikata & co to make known the pink sheets they are missing is their strategy. If the court fails to unravel the truth, the truth will surely and eventually emerged no matter the suppression.

GHANAIAN POLITICIANS MUST MOVE PAST UNSAVOURY RHETORICS!
In some countries, politicians see the good in their opponents and praise them whilst even defending their own points. Such a move suggests that the opponent is not an enemy. In fact it brings understanding and mutual respect and creates harmonious atmosphere between the two parties despite their differences. It also tells supporters that they rather have opposing views in terms of competition rather than enemies ready to hit and tear one another to pieces if given the opportunity. Unfortunately it is the opposite, or other way round, in Ghana.
OUR ADVICE:
If we want to move past the political quagmires that have mired the country for several years, then we should be able to confront party sycophants like Kofi Adams who speak rhetorics without conscience and who don't see the good in their opponents.
Such people and their unsavoury rhetorics are not helpful to the progress of Ghanaian society and its democracy. They must either change else Ghanaians should be able to give them demise from the political stage.
Oh and a comment: No one is speaking of perfect elections, all we want is credible elections.

That there was election fraud is known to objective analysts, both Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians. What baffles us is why the NPP allowed that to happen.
And if the fraud tilted the election results, one can say that for now, it would be difficult for the so-called stealers to be removed from power from so-call democratic Ghana.
Here are a few reasons:
1. The SC has no power to elect the president of Ghana. They can only refer the case back to the EC for correction or re-voting in case there is evidence of massive fraud. But due to several reasons including funding and possible chaos, such a scenario is unlikely regardless of the magnitude of evidence. Even if it does happen, and as it is believed that the EC is made up of a bunch of untrustworthy thugs, one can expect them to repeat the same mantra.
2. If it is true that Dr. Raymond Akongburo Atuguba, the Executive Secretary to President Mahama, is a relative of Justice Atuguba, then would it not be very unlikely, if not highly impossible, for Justice Atuguba and his colleagues to decide otherwise even in the face of overwhelming evidence? As you know in Ghana, one good turn deserves another.
3. Akans are the most disunited people in the country. They are united among their various (sub)tribes only. The Ashantis for instance, are wary of a win by Akufo-Addo since he is close to another throne they consider to be their rival. They fear that his victory would help elevate the throne. That was also part of the reason why former president Kuffour tried to push his brother to be the presidential candidate in place of Akufo-Addo.
4. The international community is generally comfortable with Mahama,a conciliatory technocrat just a bit different from late Atta-Mills.
5. U.S. and the west generally do not trust Akufo-Addo. For instance, it is believed that he planned/plans to renegotiate to possibly increase Ghana's current 10% share in the oil/petroleum agreement in the event that he becomes President. This does not go well with them.

The NPP generally made a mistake for allowing the train to pass by before beginning to run after it. If they were sure of their allegation of irregularities and fraud, they should have approached the case more vigorously and even taken a more logical step of blocking the inauguration of the president-elect until the case was resolved. From objective logical point of view, even with quantum efforts, the only likely scenario is that the case may help to address "some" of the election malpractices.
Oh yes, appreciate the progress of others, even if he/she is your opponent. Even if Mahama's book would be read by a few young children, it is still an achievement and we (must) congratulate him for that.
