Candidates, who years back in opposition, could barely raise enough money for filing fees, this time around were splashing billions of cedis in a desperate bid to buy the conscience of party delegates. The display of opulence, in a nation still grappling with poverty and underdevelopment, was so disgusting that even some sympathizers of the ruling NPP again and again questioned the source of the monies available to various candidates. The barefaced use of suspected ill gotten money to weaken the nation’s democratic effort became so much that a new term, Moneycracy, was coined to describe NPP’s new brand of democracy.

But because he is an NPP member, he gave in to the agreement which if digged deeper will unveil secrets of fruad. That is just the cat he's not ready to let out of the bag. 1) The daily large and long motorcade (to and from work at the castle), with whistles and bells, thus causing terrible traffic jams in Accra;
2) Building a presidential palace, with borrowed money and foreign contractors, while police officers, university students, urban workers have no places to sleep;
3) Ordering two presidential jets and hundreds of expensive vehicles, while workers wake up at about 4:00am to line up to catch some rickety TRO-TRO buses to go to work and back?
4) Accepting nearly all foreign invitations to travel abroad, and pocket still undisclosed Per Diem, while we have PAID Ambassadors around the world to do our business for us? Would even a village teacher accept all funeral invitations? Where is the self-respect?
5) Wasting our meager resources by BUYING ugly looking gold chains, from abroad, and decorating himself, as a Christmas Tree, while in office and NOT paying a penny in income taxes;
6) The many corruption cases brought before him but failed to order investigations;
7) Calling Ghanaians LAZY, because he's a Togolese expatriate, while not creating jobs for them. What the hell did he want them to do to earn money?
8) Allowing the likes of Wreko-Brobbey and Mpiani to run up huge debt with Ghana@50, which even went far beyond its allocated budget;

That is a very reckless statement and very disingenuous on the part of Isofoton SA and Anane Agyei for that matter, to seek to suggest and assert that, Ghana and the NPP, should support an obvious illegality, which when it came to it ie the contract, could not stand parliamentary and judicial scrutiny.
Ghanaians are demanding their money for the apparent lack of a contract and Isofoton SA should do well to return our hard earned money to us and leave the childish, flimsy and blockheaded arguments it's making to defraud us of our resources.

It seems to me there are so many unanswered questions and frankly I would like to see a government inquiry into the statements made by Isofoton which I regard as very serious indeed.

They are in efect ACCUSING the Kufuor government of complicity in a CORRUPT PROCESS which led to losses to government and the PEOPLE OF GHANA. If Tsatsu Tsikata (no friend or associate of mine) could be convicted and sent to prison on a lesser (but by no means less serious) loss to the State for a bad decision, what is so different about this particular case?

We should be serious about these discussions and maintain a neutral, unbiased stance in analysing it and making suggestions. I rather lament some of the partisan comments (from both NDC and NPP) on this case both here in this forum and elsewhere.

I like many other neutrals have always argued against the hypocrisy displayed by some politicians who tried to make political capital out of Martin Amidu's brave and successful fight against the "silent corruption" that continues to sip through our very economic and political system.

Sometimes you just wonder how people you knew only a decade ago to have nothing, suddenly started to ride brand new 4WD cars and own mansions that even people who earn good money cannot afford!!!

Before I deviate from the core issue here, I recall various politically affiliated people trying to tie the Isofoton and Waterville cases with the ruling government and party, and I cautioned that those living in glass houses should not throw stones.

Now we have a NPP functionary who is an active party member and supported the estwhile flagbearer for the 2012 elections coming out to 'BLAME' the Kuffuor government for Isofoton's woes because "the Kuffuor government misled us into signinng an aggrement with the promise that they would seek parliamentary approval".

Clearly, there is an example of "silent corruption" here, where people in government promise a company that they would assist them to win approval for a project and surely MONEY MUST HAVE CHANGED HANDS in the process. Now the cubwebs are beginning to be cleared and we can see more clearly. Some members of the opposition in their desire to embarrass the current government were quick to try to capitalise on Amidu's success to condemn the government of the day but as Amidu himself said, it was the people of Ghana, not he who had been successful and he rather wanted the monies to be returned to the coffers.

It seems clear to me that a lot of these underhand deals have been going on between governments of the day (BOTH NPP and NDC) over the decades and this is corruption pure and simple!!! If businesses cannot go through a proper competetitive tendering process to win contracts purely on merit and have to 'bribe' their way or 'make political contributions' to gain an unfair advantage (whdether they are the best candidate or not), then we can all see why some of them have come to believe that this is part of business as usual.

Recently in the UK, there was a tendering for one of the Main Railway franchises between Virgin Railways (the current operators) and another company. The contract was given to the new company which meant Virgin had lost and had to cease operating on what in the past was a poorly serviced line and which to a large extent had been improved by Virgin who took a huge risk in taking up the contract (incidentally Richard Branson is a Labour party supporter, or was). Virgin, not satisfied with the outcome, and suspecting asome "insider dealing" and "kululu" with the process took the matter to court, and there is currently an injunction and the matter is being reviewed. In the mean time Virgin continues to run the railway line!!!

I would like to see such a situation in Ghana where competetive tendering will be made transparent, and sealed bids can be scrutinised and if seen to have been corrupted, the 'corrupting' company will be automatically thrown out of the bid as part of their punishment in addition to heavy sanctions. We do not need a military government to be tough, strict and to ensure that our business and politics are clean.

I would also like to see all politicinas who benefited from these deals thrown out of parliament and politics and banned from holding public office. If I were in government, I would certainly be strongly fighting for this.

In the mean time, I hope other well meaning, honest and serious Ghanaians will join me in this crusade to seek and expose such "silent corruption" which is leaking our resources from the real uses and increasing the costs of contracts and the cost to the state.

This is how the low-base non-hard working none entities come to ride those big cars and live in those ridiculuous mansions I referred to earlier. This I believe, is part of what president Mahama referred to as "silent corruption".

I will support the president's efforts to be tough and rid the country of such people and rather than sit down and criticise for the sake of it, I would urge well meaning Ghanaians to put their partisanship away and join the president in exposing and punishing wrongdoers who are letting the nation down.

I would like to add that there are those who are fighting hard for a reversal of the election results, some of whom are doing because of their direct or close relationships to the leadership of their sides, and others who have invested heavily through campaign financing and now feel tghat the promises they were made if their side won, may not materialise and they have lost personally and heavily, hence their blind and persistent support for a cause which by all accounts is not being prosecuted in good faith. We need to turn away from these selfish attitudes as they are directly or indirectly responsible for a lot of our woes as a developing country.

I am no functionary of any party, do not support any of them and like Rev. Duncan Williams, WOULD HAVE aligned myself with the CPP if they were serious and prepared to completely overhaul themselves and get back on track on the Osagyefo's agenda. They have lost their way and persona;lities are holding them back.

But above all, I am a Ghanaian patriot and will support ANY party or GOVERNMENT which is serious about rooting out corruption and creating a fairer, better society and one that will work hard to get people out of poverty, improve our educational attainment so that everyone can contribute to our development and move into a middle income and high income society whilst maintaining our CORE Ghanaian values of oneness, equality, freedom and justice UNDER GOD.

I have tried to help Ghanaians to know that Kufour is a smart thief, a thief that presents himself as a good person and a gentleman in the eyes of the people.

I reminded people of the strategy Kufour and the NPP used to steal government lands, the policy of RE-ZONING of government lands which later only saw Kufour and the NPP people buying those lands in Accra, and quickly acquiring documents within the shortest possible time, whereas it takes people longer time of years before documents are passed at the lands department. Today, the land at the Airport area on which Accra international students hostel used to occupy now belong to K T Hammond and others of the NPP while Kufour hides at the back/background. This a stealing style strategy deviced to steal Accra lands that are in the hand of the government.

The motorway; The 400 feet at the both sides of the motorway our ex present Kwame Nkrumah, whom Kufour hated left for future expansion of the motorway, today Kufour and others of the NPP own most of these lands.

It was the same stealing strategy of re-zoning of lans that they used to acquire those land along the motorway which in the future will never make the expansion of our motorway to be possible hence traffic jam's signs have started showing up of which in the future will be very terrible.

Finally you can see and hear what the member of the NPP, the country represntative of the ISOFOTON, Mr Anane-Agyei Forson is saying, this is the strategy Kufour uesd to rob the nation in his own smart style, not even mentioning the Waterville case that Kufour cancelled the contract between Ghana and Waterville and gave it to Shanghai, a Chinese company to renovate our stadiums, which in real sense brought in all these our WAHALA over the judgement debt deal with the Waterville.

In short this the way they devised to rob the nation in a day light robbery style of which thanks finally has to be given God for exposing them likewise in an open daylight. I pray God to help get this lovely nation out from the hands of those wicked hypocrites who have adorned themselves with university degrees and with pride of claiming to be what they are not, and have been lovers of political parties more than lovers of the nation they find their parties in. May God continue to expose all their bad deeds, no wonder it is said that ''you can run but you can never hide''

IF NPP MADE THE MISTAKE IN SIGNING THE CONTRACT AS THE ISOFOTON CLAIMS,WHY DIDN'T NDC TAKE THEIR TIME TO STUDY TO FIND FAULTS WITHIN THESE CONTRACTS,SO THEY COULD USE THEIR BRAINS TO RECTIFY THINGS,RATHER THAN JUST PAYING THIS JUDGEMENT DEBT?
THE ANSWER IS SO SIMPLE:
THEY RECEIVED KICKBACKS.
THEREFORE,WHAT THEY HAVE ENGULVED,THEY HAVE TO VOMIT IT.
IF NPP TRUELY SIGNED THE CONTRACT,BUT WAS NOT AUTHENTICATED BY THE PARLIAMENT,THEN ISOFOTON IS NOT QUALIFIED/JUSTIFIABLE TO WINNING THE CONTRACT.
THEREFORE ISOFOTON DOES NOT QUALIFY FOR ANY JUDGEMENT DEPT,NDC GAVE TO THEM,PERIOD.
WHY?
NO WORK DONE.
SO WHAT IS THIS ANANAE AGYEI-DORSON SAYING HERE?
THIS IS ORCHESTRATED BY THE NDC,WHO ARE IN HOT SOUP,THEIR OWN HONOURABLE MARTIN AMIDU,HAS PUT THEM IN.

The fact of the matter is that these are all part of the NPP trickery. And martin Amidu deserves not the praises he has been getting. let's look at the facts:
1. the contracting parties i.e the govt and the supplier must first sign an agreement.
2, the agreement is to be presented to Parliament by the govt and not the other party.
3. if the agreement is not approved by Parliament, the govt should inform the other party to stay action until approved.
4. In the Waterville case, the Kuffour govt admitted that they permitted work to commence under a certificate of urgency as the tournament was due in jan 2008.
5. Mr Kojo Mpianim stated that they paid some compensation through the sub-contractors. What was the basis of that?
6. It is worthy of note that Justice Date-Bah is the president of the panel.
7. The SC ruling has created a country risk for Ghana- that a govt can sign a contract with an innocent party, allow work to start and then come back later to say there is no contract because Parliament has not approved it and also refuse to pay for compensation (restitution in terms). If this is not state fraud then I don't know what is it.
8. That is not to say that the state should hand over millions to non-deserving contractors but to say that the state cannot be trusted contractually against the backdrop of these rulings. The victory celebrations of Martin Amidu and the NPP will soon be shortlived. It will not take long before the state starts harvesting the fruits.

Every member of the NPP is dismissive of Kufour's treachery and wanton pillaging of Ghana in the name of the dead UP fools. Everyone in the NDC seems to be blind to the murders, intimidations and the stealing that has raged on from J.J. Rawlings, through Atta Mills to John Mahama. The very thing distinguishing man from animals/lower forms of earthly creatures is the ability of man to think and or know right from wrong; in Ghana the line has been crossed many times and now we wallow in our filth and call it existence. When did it become alright for someone to cause harm to Ghana because they are my tribal king folk or from my tribe or is the president or speaker of the house from my political party stripe and everything else is irrelevant?
The nation got where we are because good people chose to look the other way for thieves and criminals in powerful political position steal if we delude ourselves into believing their treachery and abuse is in the interest of our political party or tribe. Yet we are the very people dying to attend church service each Sunday and other days in between; a nation of immorals we have become as we listen to every crook and thief in the Diaspora come and show off their spoils to make us even more greedier and vicious than we already are.
