It does not surprise me,'ILLITERATE SARPONG JUSTICE' at all when last couple of weeks, some NPP fanatics and founding members knowing the consequences that awaits quickly went to consult the oracles with a poor sheep, sacrificed the blood and shared the meat.

Clearly there is a concerted effort to cause harm, havoc, losses, pain and hurt to individuals and the government. I believe the security forces have a task force specifically directed by the president to get to the bottom of this matter as a national security issue of great importance.

What I hope is that ALL political parties will join hands with the government in the interest of the State and individuals who are losing their livelihoods in the various constituencies, to fight together to rid the nation of this terrible unpatriotic act!!!

Anyone who refuses to do such, and rather seeks to blame government and / or gloryu in the fact that these things are happening, has not got the nation at heart and in my view, should not be running the country or pretend to be wanting to make the country better when (or if) they are in government!! Ours is ONE NATION and MUST remain so to all intents and purposes, regardless.

I am not ignorant nor naive and sure, there are many ZOOS everywhere and perhaps you and I could share an Oraguntan cage in London Zoo when you are next in town. Would that help stop these fires?

Please read my whole posting and my suggestions for all parties to rally to seek solutions to the problem. If it happens that these are mere accidents, then surely we should seek better health and fire safety measures to reduce them!!! I just happen to believe some people are taking advantage of the political situation in Ghana to cause havoc. These are my independent views - like them or loathe them.

The problem should be forensically investigated and the right solution found. The power overloads due to "DUMSOR DUMSOR" might be one and the recent importation and using of Chinese badly made wiring products should be looked into too.

The VRA and all those agencies engage in supplying power to consumers should come together and find out why there are many burning incidents in Ghana instead of simply using politics to avoid accepting responsibility.

Don't you think it is rather odd that we have so many fires in one year? I am not that naive to think that some of these could not be accidental. Of course there could be electrical faults etc. but should we rule out ARSON?

Surely CARDINAL, you do not believe that the recent Texas Fires (and others in the US) were just mere accidents do you?

You see when you turn a light off and turn it on again you create a power surge and the conductor which are inferior copper wires we use in Ghana heats up, when they do they expand and in the cause of dissipating the heat the insulators melts and cause close circuits between the live wire and the neutral. The frequency of the dumso dumso of late is the cause.

Cardinal, true ower outages of the kind you describe can trip or trigger short circuits leading to the accidents that you describe. This I am very familiar with (with a brother who is an electrical engineer at the highest level of his profession).

However, you cannot convince me that ALL these fires are due to such outages? And if they were, then surely we need to examine the electrical protective mechanisms that people are using for their homes and businesses.

Furthermore, we will need an overhaul of our system and for me, the fact that Ghana currently lacks 'Energy Security' just as we lack Food Security is an indictment of our political leadership over the decades and prioritisation.

If you recall, one of the Osagyefo Dr Nkrumah's key obsessions was to seek all available means of ensuring energy security and generating power including solar, nuclear, hydro and oil (he started the idea of exploration for oil and gas). I rather regret that we are where we are now and when you visit other poorer countries in Africa, you are sometimes amazed at their ability to provide 24hr power supplies which we are unable to do.

That's by the way. My major concern is that people should cease to politicise the fire outbreak issues and seriously seek the causes. I have not ruled out arson and rather believe strongly that it is an important factor.

If it turns out that these are "electrical faults" ONLY as you describe, and that they were pure accidents perhaps 'waiting to happen'because of our poor electrical systems, I will be the first to return here and apologise, believe you me. My main concern is that we seek the causes, outside of politics and fix it for our good as livelihoods and lives are being afected by this appalling situation.

Gentlemen, I admire the way you have comported yourself in your postings. The fact is that all the fires are not from any arsonist. The fires are a curse on Ghana. A prophecy came on 31 December 2012 that Ghana will suffer this year from fires. A lot of properties would be destroyed through fires. Apart from the spirital aspect, you will agree with me that most of us uses partially burnt electrical plugs adaptors, and we most often over-load them. We often connect our refrigerator, sound-system and other appliances onto the same adaptor. When electricity current is being restored after an outage, the current in most cases goes up, causing a lot of gadgets to ignite. Lets pray. Nobody is behind setting fire to anyones property. We have sinned. Those who supervised the payment of Judgement debts are now members of a committee on Judgement debts.

Even though I personally believe your view about prophesy is a bit far fetched, it is nonetheless not impossible if the biblical events of "Sodom and Gomorrah" are anything to go by. I would however take it with a 'pinch of salt.

I have had cause to advise Cardinal and his toon army that this attitude of insults and abuses are signs of one losing the argument.When you run out of ideas you tend to break the rules of etiquette governing informed debates.I am glad that Cardinal from an initial Aliases when he was been rude and outright abusive to Paul had to regroup to take part in a healthy debate.

Personally,I don't rule out arson but I understand why people could as well blame it on the power outages.I am at a loss though as to why they think these fire outbreaks are solely accidental and are adamant to rule out arson.If you don't face these problems with open mind then you will end up doing the wrong thing.The regularity of the fire outbreaks can not only be due to accidents and therefore it is possible to have saboteurs taking advantage for what ever reason.Until these opposing views are properly given attention and room to vent out these opinions,we would be heading no where.

Our democratic experiment suggests compromises and a healthy debate of ideas.Those who can not debate on ideas must give way to those who can.Until we realize to debate without insults and abuses,we would have a long way to go in our democracy.

Many people have found the name strange, and many have spelt it wrongly as well. Just a few days ago, I visited another country and the gentleman meeting me at the airport called me Anuma (but it is AMUNA), properly pronounced flat even though students of Oboasi Sec Tech had a way of calling me in a musical tone!!!

I discovered from google that the name though a classic one from my clan, is also used by the Jews and for instance there is a Hester Amuna synagogue somewhere in the United States!!! Unlike Barack which is used by Jewish/Christian/Muslim alike, mine is a traditional name which also happens to have a Jewish version but I am not a Jew, neither am I a Muslim. I come from a very strong Christian family but am very open to other religions and value the part that each plays in society and as long as there is tolerance, freedom and justice, I am all ears.

Finally Paul as the name implies is male and so that is me. I prefer to be identified as a Ghanaian patriot, that's all.
