Au contraire Mr Paul Frimpong,we africans are the architects of our own poverty and inequality.Take for instance the poverty and inequality in Ghana.I said a few weeks ago just look around Ghana and if you're like me you'll see folks who want to be poor.I always see many unkempt homes,poorly done rd side shacks,trash all over the streets and the fact that 57yrs on we're still reliant on raw commodity exports it reminds me that Ghanaians don't want stuff that will bother them too much.So in reality we can't complain inequality yet at the same time have our unfortunate ethic of lethargy or being in love with the culture of "little effort" yet expect rich rewards.Those Ghanaians who can't be bothered to clean the trash outside their front door or disciplined enough to build & maintain their rd side trading shack to stringent standards aren't going to put stringent standards and very demanding effort to raise their productivity and incomes to escape inequality.Inequality is a choice since those in the upper income tier live and work in the same country and environment as the poor its just that their work ethic differs.Inequality is not all bad as it rewards the diligent and gives the poor but wise folks some incentive to work harder.Lets also remember that today we're very unequal with Singapore yet Ghana got independence first but we live and work in the same world and trading environment as the Singaporeans.Is it not the poor work culture among Ghanaians thats to blame for that inequality with rich Singapore rather than just inequality for inequality's sake? Thats food for thought Mr author.
