It is the UP-PFP-NPP-and all their metamorphosed shades which have never learnt to subject themselves to the terms of losing an election and keeping to their role of guard and guide holding government in check,they behave as if they have an inalienable right to lead this nation which no one should take from them. In fact, it is so appalling and disturbing that I wonder whether they ever understand what the whole game of democracy is about. honestly any friend who expresses his identity with them; I begin to take my distance from them.Throughout Kuffuor's eight years NDC did not do anything like what they are doing. They wrongly jailed 6 former ministers of state with one of them (Victor Selormey) dying in jail inspite of all appeals to release the man to be hospitalised. Former Navy Commander Admiral Owusu-Ansah died because he was banned from all military installations so he could not receive proper medical care from his doctors at the 37 military hospital.If any of these was done on the NPP it would have been a different story. We are all watching. Remember the generation which didnot know them who arze in the majority of the voters in their early 20s who were born in 1981 and thereafter. Unfortunately,they have also seen it. It will take again a long time for the NPP to come to power.

We've seen over the years cabinet positions created to address problems that the government deems warrant their attention.So why not create a cabinet position to address the ubiquitous practice of corruption in our country,huh? Well,our politicians use that vehicle to amass wealth instantly and everybody or maybe most Ghanaians are deeply involved too in order to sustain their way of life.
It's a common occurrence to witness ordinary civil servants living way beyond their salaries with impunity.Owning houses,fleets of taxis,driving expensive cars whose tires they cannot afford to purchase with their official salaries,yet nobody is held accountable or probed.And the reason is because those at the top are raking in millions illegally so why not everybody.

The creation of a given committee will drain the resources of the country in the pocket of people who might not do the job because they are not skilled to do it or because of the political pressure on them.
Beside that, the President needs to listen to his people and respect their opinions on the way the country is being governed. If the President is so loyal to President Atta Mills why is he removing the cadres appointed by President Mills from their positions since they did not fail to deliver? Why is the President surrounding himself with the people from the North of Ghana? How many are the northerners to have voted for him to win the presidential election? Ghana needs all her sons to build her so the President shouldn't show tribalism, nepotism and favoritism if he is really the heir of President Kwame Nkrumah's ideal and vision.

I was very disappointed when Kufuor failed to do away with the winner-takes-all politics in Ghana. Mind you he promised to do away with that but he did not. What we are talking about here is partisan politics at the local level. DCEs, MCEs and Mayors should be elected and not appointed or nominated by the president. Yes, the president appoints his regional ministers but he should allow the local people to decide who they want to lead them. There should be no conflict with the president. Such people so elected will be accountable to the local people and not the president. This system is what pertains in the UK and US and it works for them.

Partisan politics at the local level should allow keen competition and ensure good governance. It is done in the USA and UK and it works well for them. Our system of govt is based on the US and UK models so it should work well for us.
