The reason why Madiba would be the greatest African is, he symbolizes- PATRIOTISM, PATIENCE, TOLERANCE, HONESTY, INTEGRITY, UNITY, PEACE and FREEDOM, in a continent where leaders see their opponents as enemies and can't sit down and share meal together to bring peace and prosperity in their countries.

When he crosses the last path, may he ask God to CLONE him and send him to Ghana, because with Nkrumah aside, we have had idiots and heartless leaders till now.

Madiba, your legacy will live on.

I think they are doing this mainly for Mandela to reach his 95th birthday which is about two weeks away. I don't see any other reason why he should be kept on life support when Doctors have practically declared him dead.

My sentiments exactly, and that of the palaver of his burial place. Since his burial place has been settled, I see no reason why they should keep him till his birthday which he can't celebrate. And more importantly, this is a person who wants people to work on his birthday.

I know the daughters, grandsons/daughters and great-grandsons/daughters will milk his name dry after he has gone, but his legacy will live forever, not only in Africa but everywhere.

I know a South African academic who is furious that Zuma took a picture with Mandela when he visited him earlier on before his condition worsened. He thought it was undignified for the picture to have been published and also said Zuma was lieing about Mandela's condition improving just to keep the masses calm and to seek political capital out of the notion that the government was providing first-class care to Mandela.

From my knowledge of elderly people in our culture, they always prefer to die peacefully at home in familiar surroundings and with their loved ones. Madiba loves being in Qunu - his childhood village where he wants to be buried - and the ANC government should just have provided hospice care for him at his home in Qunu. It is really a shame that Madiba was taken to far-away Pretoria. This reveals the terrible job the corrupt ANC government has done. There is simply no decent hospital anywhere near Qunu. Not even a provincial hospital in the province Qunu is located in. Madiba should have been allowed to die peacefully with dignity in his beloved Qunu.

P.S. Mandela is certainly dying of old age but the complications and apparent collapse of his lungs are due to the terrible, wicked, evil punishment of breaking stones in a quarry that the racist apartheid system subjected him to. Madiba, like Osagyefo, has literally given his life for his country in the most painful way!

The former ANC youth leader Julius Malema refers to Jacob Zuma as an illterate.I do not think he is far from right.The problem with the ANC right now is that it has failed to be a viable political party worth ruling South Africa.It did well as a liberation movement but has failed miserably as a political party.The ANC at the moment lacks a visionary,charismatic leader and has not done much to change the plight of blacks in South Africa.No wonder former anglican bishop Desmond Tutu says he is not going to vote for the ANC again.This is a big blow the ANC's credibility.

Chief Mandla Mandela (a chief and grandson of Madiba)has torn into her aunt Makhaziwe Mandela ( a feisty lady who is married to a Ghanaian) and his half-brothers Ndaba and Mbezo. Mandla has accused Mbezo of impregnating his (Mandla's) wife. Too sad. There's no need to wash one's family dirty linen in public. Anyway, Madiba' is a fighter! He will stoically fight his way back to life.
