Supreme Court has no reason to cancel any valid vote cast at this time.Votes are the reflection of the will of the people and the choice they have made.If the electorate have voted massively for Prez Mahama,then they have made their choice clear upon who they want to rule the country.They did not vote for Nana Addo and it will be unwise for the Supreme Court to impose the loser of the general élections on the people.Nana Addo must not be allowed to steal the verdict of the people.In the whole world electoral results are declared by votes cast at the polling stations.Akuffo Addo and NPP must be ashamed of trying to steal the peoples' verdict.Thank you.

Even elections in the USA suffers some irregularities i nspite of all their technological advancement but at the end of the day decency is allowed to prevail.So much money and time is being wasted on this court proceedings in the name of maturing our democracy but the truth is that we are stupid. Of all the continents in the world Africa is the only one yet to awaken from its slumber. At least a country called Kenya manage to give us a lead but we are still not learning. There are children going to school on an empty stomach, electricity has become a scare commodity in our country,finding a decent meal a day is a luxury in Ghana, our roads are like a jungle with all the pot holes,respect for authority and decency has been thrown to the gutter, mosquitoes are having a field day because of dirt, preventable diseases are killing us and our children and in stead of working to address some of these things that questions our dignity as a nation and a people we spend those hours behind the TV watching SC proceedings which you do not need a rocket scientist to tell you what the outcome will be and the so called intellectuals who claim they have the wisdom of solomon wasting the time of the poor man and the whole nation.

These are not permanent staff of the EC, they are hired for a few weeks to help conduct the election, over 97% signed the pink sheets, which in itself is quite remarkable. NPP are grasping for straws.

If there was not any electoral fraud in Election 2012, why some unknown persons and security forces raided NPP and Gloria Akuffo's offices? Why were the reported incidents in Atimpoku, Amenfi East Constituency, and Savelugu etc?

The election was rigged:

1. NPP headquarters raided was broken into by some unknown but supposed policemen acting on a tip off that the NPP have stockpiled weapons at their Head office. The unknown persons made away with computers and laptops containing information relating to NPP and the Election 2012.

2. The office of lawyer Gloria Akuffo was raided twice and the assailants made away with laptops, desk top computers (PCs), backup USB sticks and other materials when wind got to the public that she is a Counsel for Nana Akuffo-Addo & Co.

3. The Electoral Commission's office within the District office block in Atimpoku in the Asuogyamang district in Eastern Region was raided, and a laptop and pen drive (USB Stick) holding information on election 2012 removed

4. Four biometric verification machines stolen from Amenfi East Constituency's electoral collation centre in West Region where alleged electoral fraud has taken place. The defeated NPP parliamentary candidate had already lodged a complaint with the local court.

5. Savelugu in the Northern region where three Electoral Commission's staff, including Ms Salamatu Usman (a National Service Personal) were apprehended for attempting to tamper with election papers (pink sheets). They were trying to get the Savelugu District Electoral Officer, Akumani B. Akanda to sign pink sheets which remain unsigned for whatever reason no one cannot tell. The unsigned pink sheets cannot be accepted as genuine. Nonetheless, Dr. Afari-Gyan dubiously accepted them contrary to existing electoral rules. According to investigations conducted by the police, Salamatu was instructed by her superior boss with strong connections to the NDC to do that. Fifteen copies of unsigned pink sheets were found in her house.

6. The constituency office of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Afigya-Kwabre South Constituency, formerly Kwabre West in the Ashanti Region, was burgled on Wednesday night 20 Feb 2013 by some unknown persons suspected to be agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). The office, located at Kodie, adjacent to the Kodie Police Station, was ransacked by the assailants, who took two digital cameras, some copies of Electoral Commission (EC)’s pink sheets, 106 mobile phones used by the party to text election results, files and collated result sheets of the constituency.

7. From a publication on Ghanaweb General News of Tuesday, 30 April 2013 entitled, "Why I refused to sign affidavit" a "24-year-old student of the Gbewaa Teacher Training College, Pusiga, in the Upper East Region, Iddrisu Evans", was approached by the Electoral Commission to sign an affidavit they intend using in their defence against the petitioners, Nana Akufo Addo and Co. "According to him, the information contained in the 19 documents submitted to him for signing at the residence of the District Officer of the EC, Bismarck Nteh, did not represent his views but cooked views of someone for parochial interest. The former Temporal Booth Nyayeri Polling Station Presiding Officer insisted that he did the right thing by declining to sign the documents"

8. Nana Ato Dadzie and Tsikata said they will now use the court’s ruling as a basis to introduce evidence about the conduct of the 2012 polls and to proof that there were over voting and other other forms of fraud in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) stronghold of Ashanti and Eastern Region.

9. The respondents have mentioned: clerical errors (Quashie Idun); administrative errors (Tony Lithur); trans-positional errors (Quashie Idun) and human/mathematical errors (T. Tsikata) ... all accounting for the election of John Dramani Mahama.

10. According to the EC, the polling stations where the petitioners are claiming the EC annulled results are found in Brong Ahafo, Eastern and Northern regions. There are six polling stations involved, with the Northern Region having four. They are H253105 Police Station Langbinsi, H252302 T, Booth Nanyeri, H251504 T. Booth Bongni and H252301 D/A Primary School Kulgona, all in Nalerigu-Gambaga Constituency. The rest are G124202 R/C Church Kutre No. 1, Berekum West Constituency in Brong Ahafo and E 121703 Arabic Primary School Asuokow (A) in West Akim Constituency in the Eastern Region.

It takes a biased person to ignore such an obvious attempt to steal the electoral verdict.It is very clear that you are NDC supporter because you have never said anything good about NPP yet. But remember that God almighty is the final judge. The SC judges can throw away the case but final judgement will come from God.People like you are not morally qualified to be journalist because you cannot think right.

Its NPP and Nana Addo Lawyers are complaining not defending. The can ask for anything if that can make Nana Addo the president.
Stupid woman is thinkig the supreme court can order Nana Addo wins to be audited. NO madam know little, its a PETITION dont you understand.
Its like coming to the court and ask them to look on these particular files because you think you were first. The court will look into yours files, and ask the defend questions about the files, and only petitioners cant ask for information as the case goes on. The defends cant file any file when hearing starts.
EC has failed and John Mahama is next to fail after the pink sheets are put together.
If EC and Afari Gyan were not corrupt big headed Ghana will be going thru this mess. Simple Recollect would have stop all these, but stupidity and tit for tat from Afari Gyan is put us where we are now. He could wait for day extra before making John Mahama the president knowing the parties were complainig. He is now call Proff Error Errors.
Everything in and from Electrol Commission had Errors from Machines to Proff Error Error Afari Gyan the suppose Chairmesser.

Do you understand the role of the presiding officer? I doubt!

Let me illustrate for your understanding what is going on.

You check your company's bank statement and realised that your account is overdrawn, in view, of large amount of withdrawals you can't remember to have authorised it.

You asked your bank for explanation and you are told they are payments against your company's cheque.

Further investigation then reveals that those cheques has no signature of the authorising person - the managing director.

Would you not demand your money back from the bank? Or you will say demanding your money will inconvenient the bank manager or make it difficult for future customers of the bank to get their cheques honoured because of the scrutiny it may undergo?

The the presiding/returning officer's signature is one the important ingredient that will authenticate a pink sheet. Other than that, it remains a pink 'shit' of paper.

And that is what this case is all about. It's not about which region of Ghana President Mahama comes from and it's certainly not about Akuffo Ado's Father ok.

First, the mantra was the petitioners did not have any evidence, then they said, any idiot can go to court, then it was Bawumia's father was part of the NDC, so he needs to abandon this cause, then it was the petitioners could not file the case, then it came to court, and it was errors, now the unsigned pink sheets is being blamed on forgetfulness. Still the case is in it's early stages yet. By the time, it's over, Ghanaians would have learnt a lot and the NDC in particular, would have learnt a great deal, they would have been educated really, free of charge.
Ghanaians are following it with rapt attention and soon, very soon, we would know the way forward as a country, and woe betides the likes of Stephen Atubiga, Kakra Essamuah, Gabby Essumeng, kwadwo Boahen and their ilk, if they attempt any stupid hanky panky business in this country.

One fine day, Nate the Snake was slithering through the forest when he came upon a level on a tree. The lever said "IF YOU PULL THIS LEVER, THE WORLD WILL END". Now, Nate was a curious fellow, but was smart enough to know not to pull the lever. So, he decided to make it his duty to stand by the lever and warn the other animals that came by of the danger, since he knew most of them weren't as smart.
The day wore on, and animal after animal came and went. Each one wanted to pull the lever, but Nate warned them of the danger.
Soon, the day drew to a close, and Nate began slithering toward his home, when an eighteen wheeler sped by, and upset an area of several large boulders that was very close to the tree.
One broke away, and began speeding toward the tree in such a way that it would hit the lever and end the world if it was not stopped. But no large animal was there to help, and Nate knew what he had to do.
Nate curled himself up into a tight little coil in the boulder's path, bracing himself. The boulder struck him and killed him, but avoided the lever and the tree, and the world was saved.
This story just goes to show you - Better Nate than lever.

Nana you are too scared of the future declaration.This not a big deal.We need to reshuffle the Electoral Commission,and bring measures to do proper checking of all declaration documents before the declaration.All future declaration will have to take at least 36hrs to announce the winner.More careful and vigilance needed by those agents and officers.This is so simple leave the Supreme Court out of this issue in future.More care is needed by the EC.All we need to do is to amend the constitution to avoid any future litigations.

The unsigned pink sheets cannot be described as electoral fraud in the first place.There were 8 presidential candidates plus maybe one presiding officer so if all the 8 agents signed in presence of all the parties then you cannot say it's a fraud.If you say it's a fraud then the 8 agents are all complices including the NPP polling agents.Secondly,results don't just go from polling stations straight to Afari Gyan to be declared.There are collating centres who go through the results then fax them to EC Headquaters for final scrutiny before declaration.You cannot say it's a fraud because if the presiding officials were placed there to steal votes for Prez Mahama then they would have signed the pink sheets with both their hands and feet.
It will not affect the results because the mistake is not coming directly from the votes cast which reflects the choice made by people and the will of the electorate.It will not affect the results because the petitioners themselves have validated the same unsigned pink sheets at areas where Nana Addo won but refused to include them in the petition.This is called selective justice that is not acceptable.It could have been a good case for the petitioners if they had been little bit honest.Don't forget,Ken Krunchie is serving jail sentence because he challeged the judges for been selective so you cannot condamn something and defend the same wrong thing in your favour at another time.If Npp want justice they will have more justice than they had.Thank you.

Even a kindagartin pupil will answer u simply, if the polling station with the unsigned PS total votes are deducted from the total votes of the one declared winner and still the winner gets 50% +1 so be it.

Isn´t it absurd that they would contest places won by president Mahama and leave places won by Akufo Addo intact? That alone has demonstrated to what extend these people has taken the court for granted. If this is not abuse of the court what else is it? No responsible political party would do that.

Ghanaians have now known that they are all empty and hollow minded people.They said they are legal luminaries. But for this case,Ghanaians would continue to hold them as such. If it is not mischief, why come to court without results from where Akufo Addo won,and including those of other parties!

It is like you can extract part of a so called evidence that best favours your case and run to court without looking at the entirety of the whole issue.Thay have failed very big.Now what they are doing is to incite their supportes against the judges.Of interest are those of them who called themselves lawyers, who are leading this crusade against the judges and fully supported by an illiterate school drop out who called himself a journalist.Who told Akufo Addo that he is born to be president? With such characters! A man supporting a foreign country against his own country! A man with a dubious and questionable character! The state gave a huge sum of money to the EC to ensure that the so called will of the people is protected. However, they failed to do this and declared a winner suspiciously contrary to the laws governing elections in the country. I do not think a verdict in favor of any the parties involved in this case will settle matters. What I can envisage to be fair ruling must only lead to stringent electoral reforms for future elections which will surely delay declaration of results as pointed out. And this must duly be accepted by all or else Mahama is going to rule Ghana forever. The reason is simple: should this ruling favor NPP based on this flimpsy excuses, the NDC will appeal the decision but not step down or counter sue with exhibits from the NPP's strong hold too. Not until that is also determined we must as well forget about any future election soon. We are in this for a long long haul if the supreme court indeed fails to man up. God bless Ghana.

By the time they do arrive, everyone's whipped and hungry. Joe takes the stuff out of the basket, one by one. He takes out the sodas and realizes that they forgot to bring a bottle opener. Joe & Steve beg Poncho to turn back home and retrieve it, but Poncho flatly refuses, knowing that they'll eat everything by the time he gets back.

Somehow, after about two hours, the turtles manage to convince Poncho to go, swearing on their great-grand turtles' graves that they won't touch the food. So, Poncho sets off down the road, slow and steady.

Twenty days pass, but no Poncho. Joe and Steve are hungry and puzzled, but a promise is a promise. Another day passes, and still no Poncho, but a promise is a promise. After three more days pass without Poncho in sight, Steve starts getting restless. "I NEED FOOD!" he says with a hint of dementia in his voice.

"NO!" Joe retorts. "We promised."

Five more days pass. Joe realizes that Poncho probably skipped out to the Burger King down the road, so the two turtles weakly lift the lid, get a sandwich, and open their mouths to eat. But then, right at that instant, Poncho pops out behind a rock.

Nana Akua, well written article but I respectfully disagree with your conclusions analysis for 3 reasons: 1)if we accept that Ghana is a democracy, then we must also accept that the foundation of every democracy is rule of law-where government and all agents within the state operate on the basis of the laws of the land, 2) in almost all the pink sheets that form the basis of the petitioners evidence, there were duplicates, which raises suspicision of foul play and finally, there is a common understanding in Administrative Law that delegated powers cannot be sub-delegated.

Now let me explain points to you. with respect to issue one, the law that establishes the EC and sets out the modalities for conducting elections clearly states that presiding officers must sign pink sheets to authenticate the pink sheets. if/when the presiding officer refuses/forgets/unable to sign, that pink sheet no longer valid as it does not meet the legislative requirement. So Nana, instead of blaming the petitioners, i think you have have blamed the EC for not doing their constitutionally mandated task by the prescripts of the law. Ghana can no longer accept mediocre work or continue to excuse mediocrity.

secondly, the reason provided by the EC for accepting the unsigned pink sheets by PO is that a signature of a poling station agent is sufficient. The law did not entrust that responsibility to poling station agents. For example, a teacher cannot collect taxes because the law does not give teachers the authority to collect taxes. in same token poling station agents cannot assume the role of a presiding officers. Once again, we need to hold our electoral officers accountable by ensuring that they follow the laws of the land.

finally, the EC chairman has taking a position to challenge every aspect of the petitioners case, which undermines the independence of the EC and its credibility. As a result, unless the petitioners expose all the weaknesses in the electoral system to help the Supreme Court to order the EC to make the necessary changes, the EC will not countenance any suggested changes coming from the petitioners. In essence, i believe that exposing our electoral flaws for the Supreme Court to provide interventions needed to prevent future occurrences is a good thing. it will help to prevent similar situations in the future
