Just because Britain granted Ghana independence in 1957 before Nigeria in 1960 does not mean that you taught us how to be independent. For your information, Nigeria, Ghana and some other Africans countries have been on negotiating table with Britain after the second world war, and Ghana happen to be first to get Independence. That was it. Ghana did not do anything to help Nigeria gain independence, you moronic idiot should get that into your kokonte head.

My initial thoughts on reading the headline was, 'Oh, this our brothers in Ivory Coast, again'. First, it was on our oil find in the Western Region. And now, Bui!

But, reading the whole story, I see some wisdom in what they are asking for: Ghana and Ivory Coast need to meet to identify some possible mishaps that are likely to be visited on Ivory Coast as a result of the operations of the dam, e.g., a misfortune that may occasion the dam.

That is a fair request for, Ghana itself is a victim of the consequencies of the building of the Bagre Dam in Burkina Fasso. Remember, each time that dam is opened to free excess water it contains, parts of our Upper East and Northen Regions are damaged, sometimes with human losses.

Let Ghana Government meet its neighbour and settle whatever needs to be settled. We need peace!

Towns and houses along the river up to 200 km and beyond will be flooded. Ghana has already built houses to resettle all those in Ghana whose homes will go under the lake. The question is who will pay for the cost of resettling people in Ivory Coast.

The second problem will be that farms and other properties along the river all the way into Ivory Coast will be destroyed. The Government of Ghana will compensated all those whose lands, farms, and properties will come under the lake. Who will do the same for those in Ivory Coast?

Try to remind them also of the privileges they had been enjoying from us, Providing them with Electricity ,accommodating their refugees during their brouhaha to our detriment....our farmers smuggling our cocoa to them enabling them to topple us as the number one Cacao producing nation in the world...

It does not affect them. In fact, they would need to consult us before starting any development and that is what I believe they are trying to do, build their own dam.

The Akosombo Dam is no farther from Togo than Bui Dam is from the Ivory Coast. Besides, the former created a much wider-reaching environmental modification than the latter would create. Yet, we did not have any such complaints from the Togolese.

There could be more to the Ivorian behavior than just a genuine environmental concern. We should not let our guards down in fulfilling our international obligations as well as protecting our territorial integrity and Traditional relations.

My humble advice to Ouattara is that we all shared Jura and Bono and Anyii (Aowin) before the French and their imperial co-subjugators invaded our land. We will survive their repeatedly refined poli-tricks to undermine our mutual advancement but what legacy would he like to leave the Subregion?

For all the assimilation the French promised our brethren in the Côte d'Ivoire hundreds of years ago we are yet to see all Ivorians given French Passports.

A word to the wise is enough.

Now, here they come again taking us to task on the Bui Dam. Didn't they know of our intent to build the Dam from the inception of that idea, since the days of Houphouet and Nkrumah?

Why did they not raise this worry of theirs then? Why now? Are not anymore good neighbors? It used to be the norm for friendly governmental delegations to be exchanged to quietly meet to discuss any such concerns before the issues got on the tables of hawkish Editors of the Media.

Is this approach the new direction the Ouattara Administration in the Côte d'Ivoire prefers to deal with us--to demonstrate his patriotism to his compadres?

Very soon Ghanaians may be told to redirect their flatulence away from the environmental airspace of the Ivorians. Is that what's required of the Ivorians by the IMF and the French--to get in our face to dislodge our Economic advancement in Ghana--before assisting the Ivorians financially, and allowing them to live in Peace?

Who knows what they are planning next. We must think a step ahead of these agents of AU sabotage and prepare to find alternatives for retaining the flow of the Volta River before they divert the source of the River in the Ivorian side.
