although the intentions are good, failure to enforce it and ensure compliance will make this code the same as previous ones.
The government should highlight and make affected parties aware of the consequences of failure to comply. And where possible a whole secretariat should be established to enforce and ensure compliance of this code of ethics so that any subsequent government who takes over and disband the body with a better replacement can be easily criticised.
Mahama currently lacks integrity and probity in the eyes of the average discerning Ghanaian, so he should prove us wrong. We are waiting on him to lead by example by first declaring his assets and then be tough or fraudulent members of his team and public servants.

University graduates fear open confrontation that is why the university and school system is rife with bullies. They will always tell you when professors are talking others must shut up and when doctors are talking masters holders should not talk. They always forget that in the real world it is not so. This is the reason why academicians can never be good leaders in Ghana.

The worse of it all is that clause;"Can only be enforced at the discretion of the President"so I will not be punished if I steal govt money to help the president to do his campigne? So ministers are free to ills from the president.Attah Mills will never say this.

What is a code of ethics when we have clear cases of malfeasance that has been found against gov't appointees and functionaries, but these individuals have rather been promoted into positions of power? There are a lot of cases of conflict of interest, criminal cases of corruption that have been found against gov't appointees and these cases are lying fallow at some obscure place in the dungeons of the AG's department.
This issue brings to mind a scenario where the President was calling for the passage of the right to information act, when the document was lying on his desk and a host of others. There's a marked level of mediocrity and political gamesmanship which doesn't bode well for the cause of the administration of the governance affairs of the state and it's hurting the country financially, economically, etc, etc.

"Meanwhile, the sanctions prescribed in the code of ethics can only be enforced at the discretion of the president", why? It is better we do not have a "code of ethics"
This is a sham piece of a document.
