  but how many of the men of his ilk have actually been smart enough to put back the money they have appropriated and invest it into Ghana, rather than hiding (all of) it in some tax haven or Swiss bank?

  Say what you will about Sam, I know I sure have, but his presence can be felt and seen positively by many, even if it does not directly benefit you.
