ANY CONSTRUCTION BEFORE COMPLETION REQUIRES ELECTRICAL, PLUMBING AND SEWEAGE OR DRAIN INSPECTORS AT EACH LEVEL WITH PERMANENT SEAL OR STICKER INDICATING INSPECTION IS BEEN CONDUCTED AND APPROVED BEFORE SUCH BUILDING OR CONSTRUCTION CAN BE HANDED OVER TO THE OWNERS AS WELL THE CITY OR MUNICIPALITY. SO IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG YOU CAN HELD SOMEONE ACCOUNTABLE.

  true inspectors can be bribed in any country..But better to have them qualified and certified to do the work..and large project should have engineers/archtechs determine the size of cable required!

  An National apprenticeship scheme would help. BUT don't tie it to people with high grades. many people learn more after school than at school, pieces of paper don't make practical people, nor make them good electrician or what ever trade they are in.
  trading Standards are also to blame for allowing substandard goods in.
  Unless all (majority) of people want a corrupt free country,it will not work.

  IF THE MARKET WOMEN THAT SELL THESE INFERIOR AND PATENTED CLOTH,LOSE EVERY TIME,THEY WOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING THEM FROM THESE COMMUNIST CHINESE,PERIOD.
  BY THE SAME TOKEN,THE GOVERNMENT SHOULD ALSO APPLY THE SAME STRATEGY TO STOP THE CHINESE FROM IMPORTING OR SHIPPING INFERIOR ELECTRICAL CABLES INTO OUR MOTHERLAND GHANA.
  IF THEY FIND IT PRUDENT TO SELL IT IN GHANA,FOR US TO BE BURNT AND DIE,THEY HAVE TO USE THEM IN THEIR COUNTRY TO BURN THEMSELVES,PERIOD.
  WE HAVE TO DO EVERYTHING IN OUR POWER TO STOP THE CHINESE TO GAIN OUT OF THE WEAKNESSES IN OUR SYSTEM.
  GHANAIANS ARE NOT AS NAIVE AS THEY (CHINESE)THINK WE ARE.LET'S DEMONSTRATE WISDOM IN OUR DEALING WITH THESE COMMUNIST,SO THEY WOULD FIND IT HARD TO CHEAT UNREASONABLY TO MAKE MONEY OUT OF US.
  THE CHINESE DO NOT THINK OF AFRICANS,PERIOD,SO WE SHOULD LET THEM KNOW WE BELONG.
  INFERIOR CLOTH FROM CHINA DOESN'T HAVE ANY DETRIMENTAL EFFECT ON OUR LIVES,ANYWAY,BUT THE AUTHORITY HAS STARTED TO SEIZE THEM FROM THE MARKET WOMEN WHO SELL THEM,LET ALONE ELECTRIC CABLES THAT HAVE ALL THE ADVERSE POTENTIAL TO KILL:
  WHY WON'T THE AUTHORITY THINK WELL OVER MY SUGGESTION:
  SEIZE ALL INFERIOR CABLES ON THE MARKET.
  OUR LIVES SHOULD BE MORE DEARER TO US,THAN THE CHINESE WHO BRINGS THESE INFERIOR CABLES TO KILL US.
  BECAUSE THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT OUR SAFETY BUT THEIR GAINS.
  A WORD TO THE WISE,IS ENOUGH.
  WAKE UP,GHANA.

  This is where the Ministry of Trade is getting it wrong, he sends wrong message to the market. Are we in Ghana for or against free trade? You cannot eat your cake and have it. We must set the standard that becomes barrier to trade. Our language tends to suggest that we are against free Trade. If this should be the case, then honestly, it will be a disaster. Let's trade our way into success.

  Is it a Code or regulation ? It is not issuing tags I may call them to your members but ensuring that they are competent in their trade. Rightly ,electrical work is not only hazardous but dangerous with the consequence of a shoddy work having disastrous outcome. Proper and adequate training are what are required of all in the field.
