Ghanaians are not civilised people, Ken Kuranchie
General News of Tuesday, 16 July 2013
Source: peacefmonline
Chronicling the events that unfolded during his incarceration, Ken Kuranchie has expressed doubt about the civilization of the country. He said: "we have no right to call ourselves civilized people.”. In his view, Ken Kuranchie, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight, explained his 10-day prison experience after being declared contemptuous of court following a publication in his newspaper, said: "Ghanaians have no right to call themselves “civilized people” end of quote.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My comment:
What do you expect from the people with mentalities of:
A: "METIMEHU AND ALL DIE BE DIE?"
B: "SAKAWA AND SIKADURO?"
C: "XENOPHOBIC AND ETHNOCENTRISM?" etc.
D: "BURYING INNOCENT HUMAN BEINGS WITH THEIR DEAD CHIEFS" at this day and age.
E: "TWO FACE PEOPLE"...(they smile with you, at same time stabbed you at the back, especially if you are a Nigerian). Who need an enemy if you have a "typical Ghanaian" as a friend?
F: They spent most of their LAZY times ONLINE spewing all sort of 'NEGATIVITIES' against Nigerians, (AFTER STEALING THEIR MONEY AND PROPERTIES WITH THEIR "EVIL BUSIA ACO" AND VIOLENTLY DEPORTED THEM BACK TO NIGERIA). What is their PROBLEMS?
G: They all have PHD qualifications, and with their (Pull Him Down mentalities) , they cannot stand their fellow Africans, mostly Nigerians, to prosper in their land hence the jealousy about anything and everything Nigerians. Why?
Ken Kuranchie, was very right when he said that talking about 'CIVILISATION' the word: "GHANAIANS" should NEVER be mentioned at all because they are 'STONE AGE' in mentalities. Need l say more?

well said sir, its really getting out of hand, our government need to address this sensitive and critical issue before it gets out of control again, this is what their fathers or forefathers did,and the outcome is still there(Ghana must Go), history is about repeating itself again,Nigerians love them and take them as part of them but xenophobia, inferiority complex and what i cant figure out have kept driven them nuts, pls stop hating or cry out to your government to cut of any communication with nigerians, this might be of your best interest, they should go back with all their investments in your country and go and develop their God given blessed enviable mismanaged country, for God sake nigeria is blessed, their leaders should see all the insults they bring to their citizens even from this barber/shoe-maker country, it aches my heart to always hear this from this haters, even thou research has proven that all this devilish spews comes from the poor and low life, prove me wrong on that fact, but i must not deny the fact that some of the educated ones are still reasonable,i pray God will not forsake you people soon with this your jealousy, God bless Mother Ghana

Sorry for what befell the Honorable's son. However that should not be the basis for increasing security for the campuses. Every citizen deserves equal protection and is about time the government provide adequate security to everyone. Hire more policemen and use our military to root out those armed robbers. Above all the government should create good and descent paying jobs.

u always have to make sacrifices: Either u must bring a chicken, some eggs, rings, anklets, beads or u are even forced to kill ur own mother, father, siblings or other close family members and friends.
So at the end occultism brings problems like increased crime such as murder, violence, rape, stealing jealousy, greed etc which can now be seen at the university campuses in Ghana.

Absolute nonesense! Occultism or Idol worship does not exist, its just a derogatory term, to deny the fact, tht we had a highly sophisticated and native religion before the coming of the Europeans.
How dare you to describe any other religion than Christianity as demonic? Is Buddhism demonic? Is Daoism demonic? Is Hindusim demonic? Is Judaism demonic? If not, why are you considering African religions or ancient indigenous beliefs in general as demonic? I wonder when Christians will stop claiming hegemony over all other religions.
Christians do make sacrifices, during any holy communion they are drinking the blood of Jesus Christ. The Latin word sacrificium, ‘sacrifice’, is derived from sacrum facere, "to make holy". In Catholic liturgy, to make something holy is to set it apart by "consecration". The Christians use this word for the central moment of the Mass when the priest says the words of Jesus Christ at the Last Supper over the bread and wine in front of an altar. There do exist various occult symbols and items, on top of it the legend of the holy grail. Christianity its by his history one of the cruelest religions. How many people have died in the name of Christ, Christianity and Catholicism? Thousands and millions were killed, who refused to accept Christianity and their holy places being destroyed.Entire cities had been wiped out in the name of Christianity. Not to mention the numerous religious wars i.e. Catholic extermination camps,Catholic terror in Vietnam,Rwanda Massacres (where the catholic church had been actively involved) of course it does not end there, it goes on with the killings of Indians in South America etc.
Degenerating African religions saying its backward and babaric is far from the truth. Its very sophisticated, if you take the time to analyze it.Trying to push away African spirituality without making an effort to understand it, will surely lead you astray. There are different religons in the world with different ways how to get close to God and our creator force. One cannot say one faith system is better or even superior to another. We all have a right to practise and follow what we believe in and what appeals to us. The Akans came to the present day area of Ghana, because they refused to accept Islam and did not want to engage in constant warefare with those who were trying to impose it upon them. They didnt come to Ghana to be forced into Christianity. If one wants to follow a foreign religion, let him/her do so. But they should not condem indigenous religious beliefs out of ignorance.
If one really has a problem with his/her own culture, then he must stop practising it! That person must stop in performing Akan naming ceremonies, stop conducting funerals in the Akan fashion, stop pouring libation, stop engaging in Akan festivals such as Akwasidae, stop the practise of customary marriages, even stop bearing an Akan soul/day names, since they have a spiritual connection to the cosmology of the Akan people. They must also avoid praising Nyame/Nyankopon since this is how the Akans referred to their creator. They must stop practising all aspects of their culture. One cannot say I embrace my culture, but I reject the spiritual aspect of it. This is not possible, one does not exist without the other.
P.s. The heading of the article is wrong! I dont see, what is written in the article is linked to religious practises!

This is what they chose to, does not mean its right! However, the main difference is that, the Hausa are genetically linked to the Chadic and Berber people. Islam has been part of their culture as early as the 11th century. As for the Akans, when the muslims entered into the ancient Ghana empire, Akans refused to accept their religion, which after some warfare made them to migrate into the present day area of Ghana and Ivory Coast. Akans are Hebrew-Aramaic folk of Jewish religion and culture. Akans are made up of Isreal-Edomites, Twi (Tawi/Egyptians) and Babylonians.
Upon all those stolen religious culture and civilization of us, they (the western world) still give us the impression, they are the civilized ones, even though, they are still living at the expense of our civilization just under a different name, believing we will ever remain blind to discover their conspiracies. They still want us to believe that they are the makers of what our fore-parents have already created for us many centuries before.
The ethnos of all missionaries in Africa included the adoption of Western culture as a necessary stage in the process of conversion to Christianity and forcing non-Christians into submission of Christianity and its conterminous Western culture. In practice, all the missionaries, catholic or protestant, demonstrated these ethos. As long as the idea originated from the `natives` it must be destroyed. The educated African has been cut off from the life of his own people. Concerning that past, he really knows little or nothing and generally cares less. Such being the case, can one wonder that the African pupils and converts alike have been quick to see and very ready to follow a trend of thought which denied, or ignored, the possiblity of anything good or useful in his own culture and religion.
Most of the elderly Akans claim to be Christians, but continue to practice their religious customs. They neither abandon it nor do they say Christianity is the only true or superior religion. Its only those Christian fanatics like your late President Atta Mills, who do so. And as I already said our culture was built upon our spiritual and religious beliefs, therefore its inseparable. Yes, you can deny your religious beliefs, but this does not change the fact, that all customs you are performing and or names have a spiritual meaning. Yes, you can also change your names to western names and label them christian names, but it wont help you either. Just as an Akan cannot change the matrilineal clan he belongs to, he can also not change his race or tribe and for that matter the origin and roots of his people.
As John Henrik Clare once said:
"They laughed at your clothes; and made you change your clothes, they laughed at your names; and made you change your names; but most importantly they laughed at your God; and made you change your God."

Yes, we (Asantes) lost the last war against the British, due to previous civil wars and traitors amongst our midst, but they did not conquer the spirit of the Asante nation. It must be noted that most of the Amantuo Num (big founding states of Asante)such as Juaben, Mampong, Nsuta etc., did not even participate in that war. Due to previous civil wars, which they had fought with Kumasi. Yet the spirit of Asante was still there, they tried all kind of things to conquer us i.e. appointing their cronies on certain stools, offering us to build a new palace for the Asantehene (which we rejected) etc. until they subsequently threw in the towel and restored the full power of Asanteman in 1930, which was symbolized by the installation of the Asantehene Nana Agyeman Prempeh II and the release of the Golden Stool lands. Even Nana Agyeman Prempeh I voluntarily went into exile, he was never defeated in war. In fact, in exile, he was still being treated like a King, given land, people, access to private schools for his children, monies, access to communicate with his subjects etc.

My Brother your theory fails the litmus test when you consider slaves in Brazil, Cuba, Jamaica who have maintained their traditional customs. In Cuba for instance, the Santaria religion simply adapts Christian Gods. Such action does at least two things; It deceives their oppressors while facilitating the unabated continuity of an age old religious practice.
I sum Nana Bawuah's presentation is one of identity, consciousness and action. Once you allow your identity to be stripped off, actions thereafter are dictated by the identity bequeathed upon you by the perpetrator. You are never your self and will always be at least a step-after in a worldview so created by your oppressor.

The missionaries set up school to recruit and convert native people. There it was drilled in the head of the people to abstain from cultural, social and spiritual activities of their people. They even discouraged contact with pupils who did not go to school or were not Christians. In addition, education under the colonial regime created new career choices. However, as preconditions one was required to obtain educations, accept the white man way of doing things, his culture and religion. Apart from that our God would punish you immediately for violating the laws of the society. The europeans told the natives their God would wait for you to die until he judges you. More importantly, our religion required us to do positive things, while the new religion only required people to say they believe to gain salvation. Christiantiy as far as Asante is concerned only became dominant in that area in the beginning of the 19th century. When Nana Agyeman Prempeh I. started studying Christianity on the Seychelles and asked his people to accept it in order to be in good terms with the Europeans.
Almost all the available literature on akan religion is the work of the Christian clergy who grossly misinterpreted it, denying as a valid religion.

You see, this is the problem with you people you talk about things you have not the slightest clue of.
The Supreme Being of the Akan people appears in the triad of Nyame-Nyankopon-Odumankoma. Nyame is the female aspect of the Supreme Being or Creator, symbolized by the Ohemaa of the state. Nana Asaase Yaa is the mother of the earth (wife of the supreme being). The Abosom were created by the supreme being and work for him. We Akans believe the God Almighty the supreme being is too unique to be worshipped directly, therefore we worship him through Abosom and the spirits of our ancestors, who are closer to both the spiritual and material world. Just like you cannot talk to a Akan King directly, but through his linguist, the same way we do not talk directly to God. If someone pours libation without mentioning the Supreme being and Nana Asaase Yaa, then he is not a proper traditional priest.
I come from a traditional home. I belong to the Nsuta-Adako royal family of Adako-Jachie (Adako-Gyaakye), Asaman (Aburaso) and Bonkron all in Asante. We are the uncles of the Asantehene.
Im not a Christian, but a traditionalist. Even the majority of people in my family, who are Christians continue to practice our traditional Akan religion at the same time. If someone chooses to worship a foreign religion such as christianity, thats fine with me. But that person should refrain from condemning other native religions of which he knows little or nothing about. Im tired of hearing of things like we didnt believe in God before the coming of the Europeans or that our religion is inferior or demonic.

Christianity was conquered by the Europeans and not the other way around.
EUROPEANS DID NOT CONQUER CHRISTIANITY. THE AGE OF REASON AND SCIENCE MADE PEOPLE LESS INTERSTED IN RELIGION IN GENERAL. EUROPEANS LOST INTEREST IN RELIGION IN GENERAL. THE ABE OF SCIENCE DEFEATED THE AGE OF FAITH.
THAT HAPPENS IN EVERY SOCIETY. WHEN THE SOCIETY BECOMES MORE EDUCATED SCIENTIFICALLY, RELIGION BECOME LESS BELIEVEABLE. POVERTY AND LACK OF QUALITY SCIENCE EDUCATION IS A FERTILE GROUND FOR RELIGION AND SUPERSTITION.

Africa is the Mother of all Western religions. The holiest of holy books in today's Roman Catholic Batty... Ok Vatican is: The Egyptian Book Of The Dead", without it, they are lost.
All of the so-called Abrahamic religions are plagiarized versions of traditional African Religiosity, Abraham had no religion except that which he adopted from his African Ancestors.
Three questions I would like to ask religious leaders and have them answer honestly are: who was Abraham; What was his religion; who was the God of Abraham.
How we lost our religion I think is adequately explained by AFRICABI, The British used their military to enforce the use of King James bible in many of their conquered territories,

I didnt want to go there, but good that you raise that point.
The father of Akan from whom most present days Asantes descend is called Saka (bibli cal Issakar), the younger brother of Juda, the father of most of the Akyem. Jew is just a name of religion, we are Hebrew-Aramaic folk of Jewish religion and culture. The first Akan was the son of Ezer, the son of Seir the Horite, the first foriegn conqueror of Egypt. The second Akan was a descendant of Juda and the third, a descendant of Gad, all belonged to the twelve tribes of Israel. Akan folk in this sense, are made up of Isreal-Edomites, Twi (Tawi/Egyptians) and Babylonians.
Ham=Kam (was the second son of Noah (Nowah) and belong to those who survived the flood. As the creator led them so that they populated the whole mainland, the interior land and the cost. Some of them also sailed to the Islands. Besides the people kept partly the name of their founder, partly they changed the name and partly they also accepted such anmes, which were more common to their neighbours. The changing of names of their origin was especially practiced by the Greeks after attaining power, aspiring how they were, our fore-parents were forced to take over Greek names and abide by their state constitutions. Some common examples were the land Ethiopia which was changed to Kush and the name Kyetima=Kittim (chetima) changed into Cyprus. Ham was the father of Kush (Ethiopia or Nubia), Msram (Egypt, Put (Libya and Kanaan (Israel). And truly the land Egypt was described as the "Tent of Ham" or "the land of Ham". Ham was told by their father Notah to be the "care taker" of his other two brothers whose names were Sem and Yefet. Se Huru , the biblical Seir the Horite was the father of Ezer, the father of Akan and we the Gyaakan=Akan=Kna are the descendants of Akan, the founder of the ancient Hebrew-Aramaic religious culture, we are Agya HamMa(descends of Ham the father). For just our Kradin (soul name) cult and called amah=AmMah==AmMa (Amma;2ndSam,chap2,vrs24-30) and our Akan/Guan masculine name Hammah alone gives us through evidence of our HaMa (Hamatic) origin, without mentioning anything about our Mma and Maa cult. Any culture which ensued the name of HoRi=HoRu (Hor;Horite;Horus)=HuRi=HuRu=HuRRu) was esbablished by the descendants of Se HuRu to identify their origin, HuRu was the land the origin of the first known Akan. On the other hand, any culture that ensured the name of AmuRu was established by the descendants of Kanaan to identify their origin. All the above mentioned groups were descendants of "Ham, the Godfather", and the fore-fathers of the Akan and Guan jewish folk. The Akan you see is the grandson of Se HuRu and that Guan you see is the grandson of Kanaan.
If you go to the Manhyia Palace Museum, you will see, that Effigy of Egyptian Mother-Goddess Hathor, is reproduced on the gun of the first Asantehene, Nana Osei Tutu Opemsuo as well as on some of the soldiers (Abrafo?) that guard the Asantehene.Ancient traditions make it clear that the falcon clan people (Adako/Oyoko clan, which is the ruling clan in Asante) who worshipped the great Mother-goddess Hathor and her son Horus entered Egypt... in groups independent of each other.... Horus the Elder, son of Hathor, whose people originated from Punt (Punt I was situated in southern Arabia, Punt II in Nubia)..... There can be little doubt that these groups were segments of a matrilineal clan, for succession in its royal lineage was in the female line and Hathor and Horus are typical representatives of matrilineal deities.
Akan figures like ABA-DUA-BA or the symbol of BAAL and the ANKH (NKWA) symbol of our ancient EGypt is seen in the open place where the Roman Catholic Popes often meet their international Catholic audience, as well as the whole United Nations Confeerence Hall. The AKU_ABA symbol can also be seen as the architectural design at the entrances of many church houses. Those foreign cultures have still gone so far by selecting and using some of our Adinkra and many other symbols for their own purpuse. Either the Akan symbol of WUDJA/WUDGYA (the eye of Hrrus), or the DWENNIMMEN (Ram`s horns), any of these symbols can be found in many forms ain many art works of the foreign Christian nations or in their churches. The worse of all, our Adinkra symbol named NKOTIMSEFUOPUA (the hair style of certain attendants n the Queen-mothers court) really it is a variation of Swatisca, the symbol adopted by the German National Socialist, better known as Nazi. Still until today, our MMUSUYIDEE symbol is seen as the main symbol of the whole german military force. Also the Akan symbol of KARAFOKOMA one of our impotant royal insignia is seen in a big shape on the ground in Pentagon with the inscription (intelligence Agency of the United states of America). How come our ancient spiritual symbol becomes a property of the United States?
Looking like we dont exist no more, they`ve divided our legacy like pieces of pie among themselves, even though we are not a vanished race!

I'm sure the university has a student code of conduct for each student and any violation should be dealt with by the university authorities. But if a bunch of students off campus behave inappropriately, then the police and security authorities should deal with such inappropriate behaviours. After all, Ghanaians don't parade in the street naked. When some of us were students far back in the 70s and early 80s, we did enjoyed a well managed transport system of the Universities with full security checks at the campuses, coupons to attend to the restaurants and bars, well secured halls, school respect and orderliness with highly brilliantly matured and first class academically intellectual and caring professional lectures.
Just after the Rawlings fake 31st December revolution, every thing Ghana including campus security, the joy being a university student, being proud as a lecturer with campus discipline just disappeared and collapsed never to be recovered.
I can't count how many times our universities were invaded by heavily armed military men and ordered to close down senselessly for long period by the semi illiterate man who came shouting to be a champion of the rights of students, the youth and the Ghanaian worker but despicably ended up with disappointing legacy of untold social economic hardships and security mess we found ourselves today as a country.

The Ghanaian university I knew were universities where patriotic and progressive political groupings for the left or right could be found and certainly not the tribal or the "torkosi" "antoa" "mame-water" "osun" voodoo occultic groupings we see today.
Today, we have all sorts of unbelievably demonic controlled groupings including homosexuals, young student prostitutes, vampires, Nigerian/Indian imported occultic societies and all sorts of anti social activities including drug addiction going on unchecked at the universities.
At the end of the day we end up producing illiterate unmarketable graduates to add up to the unemployed army hopelessly roaming our streets.
In fact nobody know how deep the nation is cursed today, but I tell you one thing, we must begin to read the signs of a doomed nation on our walls with the rampant fire out brakes, horrendous crimes including armed robbery, preventable road accidents, collapse of authority, roads turned into death traps and hospitals as death transit halls with criminally corrupt gangsters at the very top of political affairs of the country as if crime is an official institution here.
Occultism is pathetically prevailing on our university campuses because the country is like a home without a father in control where every child does what he/she wants.
Lord have mercy!

College practices in Ghana are worrying because of the culture brewing amongst students-i'll do anything 4 money as long as I get the latest gadgets. It breeds a cold, anti-social nature that develops as they go into the real world with no sense of God but a 'what can u do for me' attitude. That is what has to be addressed since the 'occultism' is students worshipping themselves and their items

Until we stop this false and grandeurs assertion that we Ghanaians have a superior or well crafted culture better than other Africans, and further diagnosed into even certain ethnic cultures more refined than others within our own borders, we can never solve any of our problems.
You cannot control the minds of people in certain environments, especially in higher education where adults are responsible for their actions. Whereby if they practice anything illegal, then the law has to come into action, but you cannot assert your authority over their actions based on some of our primitive and backward ways of controlling civil society.
Don't we in our so-called cultures practice worse things than occultism?
Cut the crap, and find out if these practices are against University policies and squash them immediately. Stop the unnecessary drama and stigmatization of other cultures and races.

When Kwaku Dua kills 100 sheeps to satisfy the over 100 gods of our Ashati kingdom, is that Christianity?
Osei Tutu ii A LARGE number of sheep were slaughtered at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, the official seat of the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, on Thursday afternoon.
Dubbed 'Nsumangoro', the special rites were performed to pacify the over a hundred gods of the Ashanti Kingdom.
The flock of sheep were slain by Otumfuo Osei Tutu II himself in the presence of the entire members of the 'Nsuman' Division of the Ashanti Kingdom.
The blood of the exterminated sheep was sprinkled on the ground to appease the gods for their protection of the Asantehene and members of the kingdom during the past decade.
The special programme, which was not open to the public, formed part of activities marking the 10th anniversary celebration of Otumfuo's ascension to the Golden Stool.
This was made public by the Head of the 'Nsuman' Division of the Ashanti Kingdom, Baffuor Dumfeh Gyeabuor, in an interview with Kessben FM.
Significantly, the 'Nsuman' Division chiefly protects the occupant of the Golden Stool spiritually.
Baffuor Gyeabuor disclosed pathetically that he had officially informed Otumfuo about the sudden death of a member of his group, Opanin Kwabena Akosa, who was shot and killed by unknown assailants on Wednesday evening at Atafoa.
The Asantehene, he noted, was informed about the death of Opanin Akosa before the 'Nsumangoro' got underway on Thursday.

Its pitiful to note that, despite the higher academic levels of some MPs,some of them make statements on the floor not worthy of a legislator.
A good example is those MPs suggestions on Security and Occultism in Schools. It's not a secret that, some of the Halls require some kind of nakedness as part of their initiation rites. Now,when U were a lecturer and U saw students naked as you are saying ; what action did you take?
Were you able to make a report to University authorities and if no,why?
Again,it is the responsibility of the hostel providers to give 24 hours Security to their facility and not the business of govt.
The mention of the military in this shows how naive, ignorant and misplaced the person who made this suggestion was/is.
As a legislator he could have done better to propose a bill before the house which when passed into law, would be mandatory for all Institutions (including Companies) to hire both men and women as Security Officers.
This type of Security is two fold.Armed and unarmed. You do not needed to be a former
police, navy,or soldier before you could be employed. In the unarmed category, all what is needed is 1 or 2 days Course. That's it !
With this law coming into force a lot of Security Agencies will spring up to give employment to people. Some of the Institutions and Companies may choose to give direct employment to people as a Security wrks.
Now,some of the Institutions like Hospital,Universities,Big High Rise Apartments could employ the Services of both the police and private Security Agency. Then you're coming!
So the military do not come in this at all for any reasons.
The above should have been the suggestions of the MPs.
That's the way and the Common Sense approach to Create jobs for the jobless at same time.
