When anybody abuses and talks about Ashantis they are also abusing and talking about Akans and "Ethnic Akans".
Akans and "Ethnic Akans" are the "native ethnic group" and "largest ethnic group" of South Ghana (as in North Sudan and South Sudan / North Ghana and South Ghana).
Akans generate all the wealth and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Ghana. If Ashantis who majorly comprise the "Akan ethnic group" native to "South Ghana" decide to succeed from Ghana with their Oil (Petroleum), Gold and Cocoa, and then create their own country of "South Ghana", then Ghana will immediatly be no more and "fail to exist".
Then you very tibalistic uninformed "North Ghana" and "Ewes" of "Volta region-Togoland-Togo" can go join your "ethnic Ewe kinsmen and Ewe people in Togo" where the Ewe ethnic group belongs and then swim in mass poverty in "Volta region-Togoland-Togo" very tibalistic uninformed "Ewes" and "Volta region-Togoland-Republic of Togo".
There will not be any civil war in Ghana if "Nana Akuffo-Addo" is "Installed as President of Ghana" because the Akan people and "Ethnic Akans" who make up 99% of the population of "South Ghana" and over 70% of the population of Ghana never ever unwisely voted for NDC (National Democratic Congress) or for the Killer of John Atta Mills, illiterate, uneducated thief, corrupted vote rigger John Dramani Mahama.

When we win a competitive game we like everybody to know it. If we win the lottery, except for the selfish, we like to announce it. But if we steal we wish that nothing becomes transparent. It is a question of integrity which our politicians and some members of the judiciary don't have. Africa surely have a long way to go. Giving a talk is not the solution. I for one don't know the solution.

I am surprised that all what a Chief Justice could propose or think of is a mere declaration of assets a means of fighting corruption.
This is just a negligible approach to fighting corruption. Corruption is thriving in Africa and Ghana because of system failures hence you can't just firefight corruption like the Chief Justice is supposing.
We need an Anti-corruption Framework of systems and controls with legal consequences to fight corruption. Some of us can help to establish and manage that Framework.
The bottomline is that there are no Accountability Systems in Ghana and Africa hence corruption thrives.

While walking through a courthouse, a kid enters an empty courtroom. He sees a fine leather briefcase (the kind the lawyers carry) sitting on the table, picks it up and exits through the back door of the courtroom into the judge's chambers. And who should be sitting there - the judge.
Judge: "Hey kid, are you familiar with the liquor store across the street from the courthouse?"
Kid: "Yeah?"
Judge: "Good, I want you to go across the street and steal me a bottle of booze." The kid runs across the street, enters the liquor store, and when the proprietor is not looking, slips a fifth into the briefcase and brings it back to the judge. The judge immediately opens the bottle and swigs half of it.
Judge: "Hey kid, I need you to run another errand. There's a contractor, Akwaba Construction, next to the liquor store. Go to them and tell them that the judge sent you. They'll give you a brown paper bag. Bring it back to me."
The kid runs to Akwaba Construction, tells them that the judge sent him, receives a brown paper bag filled with fifties and hundreds, puts it into the briefcase and takes it to the judge.
Judge: "Kid, you did great. Now unzip my fly."
Kid: "Hey wait a minute mister. I'm not a real attorney; I just found this briefcase in the courtroom."

We are just making noise. We don't have the solution for corrupt Africa yet; not in this era. We tried a brutal uncivilized approach a couple of decades back but it provided a temporary solution. Corruption is everywhere but ours is grossly excessive and unacceptable. We have an enviable continent but don't have the mindset to solve our problems. We grow-up to create more problems; that is why countries we started up with like Singapore, Brazil, India, Malaysia ... have all left us way behind. I am part of it and it hurts.
