I really don't understand why people can't accept that criticisms of our leaders are for the benefit of the leaders themselves and the nation, as a whole. Whether of the person or his office, criticisms, if managed well by the affected, tend to help make people better persons.

For example, the way people presents their personalities by the way they wear their hair, mustache, beard, dress, shoes, walk and speak and react to issues, tell a lot about their level of grooming. Unkept and shabbily dressed persons are usually, not taken serious.

In the same way, if one is entrusted with a position, one is expected to show certain traits which would enable him execute the job involved to the admiration of stakeholders.

It is in this light that I find the criticisms of the personalities of our leaders and how they carry out their assigned businesses right.

This time he was ready not to allow his reputation to be drugged into the mud. Sensing danger, some NDC "aparatchiks" succeeded in pressing his neck. That's why you and I still feel the pain.

Afari-Gyan has been doing his dirty tricks since 1992. He's become so comfortable with it that he thinks nobody can stop him or he can never be exposed. He was wrong! NPP got help from disgruntled NDC supporters who crossed carpet and provided vital clues, to crack the winning code. We've all been witnesses to the just-ended election petition hearing at the Supreme Court. Don't make any mistakes here; Afari-Gyan is a big time "tiiif" who nobody should trust.

NDC made horrible and untruthful allegation about Nana Akufo-Addo, saying he was a drug addict, a womanizer, a fraudster and many stupid and unfounded allegations. You even went on to accuse the man of issuing diplomatic passports to unqualified personel ect. It all turned out to be false. Some NPP scouts, having seen how dubiuos and poisonoud NDC could be hit back with their allegations (I don't support support or agree with such crazy allegations) which had you NDC fuming with rage. Right from day one, before Prez Mills could even sit at his desk to spend the first day at the Job, the radical activists among you began to humiliate him with derogatory nicknames like "ecomini" .

You often disrespectfully called him Rawling's poodle even before he could do or say anything to alienate his former boss. In fact, it was your psychological assault on his ability to stand on his own that made him radically push Rawlings away to finally earn the latter's bitterness and claim of betrayal.

Your (NPP's) action could not be anything but a deliberate strategy to split the two even before Mills could perform on the first day. You worked to demoralize him. What could be more personal an attack than that?

It is one thing criticizing Mills' official policies, utterances, or actions and another deriding him with indecent names like 'ecomini'.

Don't play a saint now. It would be better to fess up and apologize posthumously to the late Prez. , and help the Youth learn to practice Politics with decorum.

I am of the strong opinion that President Mills reacted wrongly to certain strategic move by the NPP to plunge his relationship with Rawlings into an abyss.

I have commented similarly elsewhere. And I will repeat it here. My position on this topic is that right from the very beginning, even before the Elections of 2012, the NPP sought to portray the Candidate Mills as a potential poodle of J.J. Rawlings, who would not do anything different from Rawlings. In fact, the NPP strategy asserted that Mills would not be able to be his own man but would always yield to the dictates of J.J.

This strategy paid off for the NPP but worked against the NDC in that President Mills upon assumption of Office tried as hard as he could to rebuff any persuasions from J.J., in fact, including J.J.'s hope and entreaties to vet former NPP Officials in the Kufuor Administration suspected to have engaged in shady financial and Economic deals. In fact, there were elements around J.J. who believed that even the Judiciary under Kufuor had been corrupted leading to the failure of, say, Akufo-Addo to properly lead the prosecution and conviction of the Ya-Na killers and some Cocaine barons.

It just happened that as louder J.J. got in demanding that his expectations be fulfilled by Mills, the farther Mills distanced himself from J.J. with defiance which was not always wise.

This is what I believe sets the Mills NDC from Mahama's in their relationship with J.J. Even though Mahama has not prosecuted any NPP Official yet, and I doubt he would, J.J. might have advised himself to either back off from his demands on Mills because it backfired on his own reputation, or he sees Mahama as only having taken control and not fully in his role yet, especially with the Election Petition case at the SC.

Meanwhile, the very core of Mills team at the Presidency grew quickly antagonistic against J.J. when he kept alleging that that Administration was full of corrupt Officials. It offended the Ahwois, in particular, and they helped Mills dig his feet deeper in rejecting J.J.'s influence.

Why I say Mills reacted wrongly to J.J. is because, he failed to handle the dilemma diplomatically enough to both keep J.J. at bay and not fall for the NPP's strategy. He could have engaged J.J. more and possibly persuade J.J. to allow him more time to study the issues before taking any action as J.J. wanted. That does not necessarily mean Mill should have jailed the NPP Officials, for example. But he could have maintained a closer relationship with J.J. and still done many things to assert his individuality.

And I do not hold brief for any NDC persons that chose to treat him like that. Surely, Mills got criticized by some NDC folks like J.J. But that does not make it right for the NPP to do so, either. No one, either a NPP President or NDC President deserves that kind of unwarranted personal denigration. Period. So, do not get me wrong that may be I am defending the NDC members who might have indulged in that behavior. I was only responding to what Oware said about NPP's part in that assault.

No discerning, impartial citizen should find anything wrong with someone criticizing Mills for some perceived non-performance or mediocrity at the Job.

But when folks began to attack him in person, piling personal insults and derogatory names upon him, they crossed the line. I have always denounced those NDC folks who would attack Akufo-Addo or Kufuor in similar fashion, instead of criticizing their specific work performance or behavior relevant to the Office they were responsible for.

When the Awhois began claiming that President Mills was killed by the barrage of undeserving criticisms, I vehemently rejected that premise. Because, I thought the late President was tough enough to take criticisms, and would not resign to death because of them. However, I thought there is a distinction between personal insults and genuine criticisms. And yet, even the personal insults could not have weakened the physiological constitution of that seasoned Professor and Politician. His death was not from any criticisms. Mills died of a long existing ailment. Whatever his psychological frame of mind, the most unpleasant criticisms alone could not have played a major role to send him to his untimely death.

Again, your claim that someone snuffed him or strangled him to death is preposterous, in the very least. What evidence do you have to back that with? It is very puerile of you to even suggest that anyone could have killed him without the doctors finding a clue of that.

You are the one who is peddling in abject falsehood. And you need to stop that for the sake of Ghana.

Major roads including the George Bush Highway, the Mallam interchange, bridges, facilities at secondary schools, implementation of the single spine salary scheme, single-digit inflation for over 2 years, rationalisation of tax collection and widening of the tax net, fiscal prudence in reducing the budget deficit to manageable levels,economy rated the fastest-growing worldwide in 2011, boreholes for rural areas, providing planes for the airforce, ships for the Navy to patrol our waters, equipment and vehicles for the Police, setting a personal example in honesty and humility, setting up SADA and the national food buffer stock, rationalisation of the NHIS and many more.

What was Nana Akuffo-Addo doing calling him Dr Dolittle?

President Mills did his best for our country, which is much more than can be said of most of us.
