Ministers saving government loans in their individual foreign accounts and keeping the interest accrued before releasing the capital to nation's coffers. In fact, the SC is really wasting time that is why these crooks think they still stand a chance. Rawlings did not force Prof into politics. He invited Prof to be his vice president and Prof accepted it without any coercion. At the time Prof was accepting to be Rawling's vice, he was made aware that he was going to be groomed to succeed Rawlings, protect him and his family and carry on his legacy, as the 4th republican constitution wouldn't permit Rawlings a third term. So Prof knew that he was going to become the next president of Ghana after Rawlings. He was very excited about this opprtunity which he saw as God-sent.

Koku, let's get it straight that, prior to accepting to pack up from the classroom to become Rawling's desciple, Prof was fully aware of Rawling's nature - murderer, dictator, ill-tempered, power-drunk, unforgiving and violent. He was fully aware of all the brutalities that Rawlings had visited on Ghanaians during his military reign of terror and was still doing even under the democratic dispensation. Prof was aware of how Rawlings had maltreated his own Fanti brother Arkaah which had made the vice president's position vacant.

True to his word, Rawlings imposed Mills on the NDC through the infamous Swedru Declaration in Election 2000. This caused divisions in the NDC as some NDC loyalists became disgruntled. Accordingly, some NDC elements broke away to form the Reform Party. This is deemed to be one of the major causes of the NDC failure in Election 2000.

After this, Rawlings continued to pledge his unflinching support to Mills in both Elections 2004 and 2008 to ensure Mills victory in 2008 at long last. For example, we all witnessed how Rawlings swiftly stormed the final decisive battle ground of Tain during the 2008 run-off voting to vigorously campaign for Mills to win Tain and hence the presidential slot.

Unfortunately, as soon as Mills was sworn in, he began to see all the evil about Rawlings and decided to bury up the Rawlings legacy. He invited back all NDC members who had had become bitter enemies with Rawlings, including Obed Asamoah, Kojo Tsikata, PV Obeng etc to rejoin the party. He would not listen to Rawlings and would not act according to Rawlings' wishes and dictates but rather teamed up with his enemies. He simply snobbed Rawlings and many of Prof's appointees were even openly insulting Rawlings every now and then. This is what hurt Rawlings so much and pushed him and his wife to start criticising Mills.

I have no problem with Mills trying to be his own man by snobbing Rawlings. However, he should have known that Rawlings was fighting for him (Mills) to become president for a reason - to protect Rawlings and his legacy. If Mills was not prepared to do that, then he shouldn't have accepted Rawlings' offer and help to ascend the presidential throne. To all intents and purposes, it is Rawlings who made Mills president! And it was for a reason, which Mills knew all too well!! Mills failed to fulfil his part of the bargain. It was like a breach of contract. So it is rather Mills who betrayed Rawlings and incurred his anger. He made a deal with the devil and failed to abide by the terms of the deal. He was a God-fearing, compassionate man who should not have made such a deal with Rawlings in the first place!

People assume power and takes the institutions under their watch as their personal property instead allowing the institutions to work. We encourage wrong doers to go free without punishment. A director in the company that I work was demoted and his $163000 annual salary slashed to $90000 for instructing two employees to take a generator to his residence after hurricane sandy struck. He returned the generator after three days .The two employees were handed suspension. It serves as deterrent for copy cats
