I am very fond of some Ashanti culture and sometimes the way they accept people from other tribes. I grew up in Ashanti region and in most places, the people are so much intermarried with people from other cultures that you can hardly know where one is from. It is even a tradition among them that "OBO NKYRE OBI ASE" to wit, nobody explains where one comes from. It could be that many of the Big people in their kinship or ancestry came from other tribes from the North or elsewhere.
People who criticize Ashantis should go to their traditional societies and see how they accept people from other cultures. My parents are a very clear example of how they were treated, though they were not from there.
AMA boss is just being foolish. Can we be so tribalist? What did he learn as principal in USA? Corruption? Sycophancy? Tribalism? Shame on you, and you are a disgrace to Seventh Day Adventist.

When I heard the AMA pass a resolution to rename the National Hockey Pitch after Mills on yesterday's TV3 live news at 8.00pm (on my laptop), I asked myself if the AMA and for that matter the Mayor of Accra had the legal authority to rename a national asset? The fact that the stadium is in Accra and AMA may have responsibilities for its upkeep does not give them the right to rename a national asset. He should be sanctioned for not having the courtesy to even consult the President or the sector Minister before acting.

Its their business what they do in their countries and so lets make it our business to take proper care of our own business too. The important thing now is that, what is the best thing to do here?

Tell me Mr Braveboy, of what use will it be to call Town Planning or even the AMA to ascertain what is the proper thing to do? Those two institutions have been rendered totally ineffective by the imposition of all sorts of inept characters over the years, as heads. Mark my word even if you tried, they would not be able to give you a reasonable answer. As that dumb Mayor himself conceded when the Melcom building collapsed, 80% of all buildings - at least the ones they are aware of in Accra, do not have the basic minimum requirement of Building Permits. So .............

One only needs to make reference to common-sense to figure out whether this impetuous Mayor who has far outlived his usefulness as the Chief Executive of Accra, was ethically right in making that senseless and foolhardy attempt to replace the institutionalized name of the Theodosia Okoh hockey pitch with the name of a person whose role in the game of hockey and sports development in general, is less conspicuous than that of the person bearing the original name.

If this visibly incompetent and clearly uneducated Mayor is going to continue going around and putting common-sense on its head by bowing to pressure from the NDC lunatic fringe, very soon we will have the Kwame Nkrumah mausoleum being renamed after Rawlings.

Kofi was questioning the legality of the Mayor's action and I only tried to draw his attention to the right place to ask. Hey! I acknowledge all the problems of the Town and Country Planning and on another day you will not even know, I know their name and what they have to do. I used the UK because Kofi is in UK and I hope he could draw the parallel. Some of us come here to make situations better not to condemn all the time. I don't owe an NDC card or NPP card. I am a Ghanaian first and believe in us individuals making the difference in a chaotic land.

It is not a major site and I believe Madam Theodosia Okoh actually deserves a bigger recognition ( but I think she likes the humble recognition). The area is run by AMA and hence the Mayor's hesitation.
Lawlessness and luck of norms, I will not argue against that, but I can see many of these crisis happening because of our lack of records keeping.

In fact, I doubt it if the Lady's plague still remains on that stadium and has not been stolen for firewood or something else, hence the Mayor's confusion. The good thing about this is that, Lady Theodosia Okoh will be recognized and remembered by many and I hope it creates an awareness of our flaws.

Why not name Accra Sports stadium after Mills since you don't like Ohene Djan, an Akan to be named for the Accra Sports stadium. As a matter of fact, Ndc has been naming many things after this failed President so why not change the name of Ghana to ATTA MILLS. Yes, let call Ghana Atta Mills and get it over with.

It's never done and until this incident I never knew that a woman designed the national flag. I am ashamed of what the AMA did.

The designer of the national flag, Mrs Okoh deserves far better than what has been meted out to her. When we were in school we were told the composer of the national anthem but no none told us who designed the national flag. Why? Was it because she is a woman. I can tell for certain that the Mayor of London is law abiding and a respector of national heroines and will never even dream of doing what this indisciplined Mayor of London has done. Shame unto him and AMA.

I understand the decision to name the stadium was taken by the Kufuor government at cabinet level. Is AMA's decision to rename it part of the usual NDC/NPP politics? I remember the same AMA renamed or reversed the Ohene Djan stadium to Accra Sports Stadium. On that occasion, the late Mills did not have the guts to stop that nonsense. That was the first disgrace. What does the Mayor of Accra thinks he is? Above the laws of the land?

I was only calling attention to the fact he has a delegated right to give or rename names but there are or should be proper laid down procedures for doing that in future. Those inconsequential and insignificant ethnic anarchists who are being secretly and cowardly spurred on by their equally befuddled mentors in the NDC leadership? These are outdated people who still seem to think that Accra is some kind of petty tribal fiefdom or republic on its own. For some strange reason, they got stuck in the colonial era when the white colonialists played us against each other whilst they looted our resources.

It is incompetent govts like the one in power that has made it necessary for so many of our brothers and sisters to escape from the bad conditions at home and to travel outside to seek a better standard of life. So consider that fact instead of stupidly following a group of people who to all intents and purposes are just a bunch of mercenaries looking for ways and means to enrich themselves at the expense of the masses.

I think that should the respondents (the Mahama govt) lose the case, it would be a more respectable and a much welcome and safe exit for this most embarrassing govt. The alternative doesnt look too good.

It is clear from the last few days of the trial that the likelihood of the govt losing is high. Mind you, I am not a fan of both the NDC and NPP so I dont really care who wins.

Madam Theodosia Okoh is a VERY important person in the independence of Ghana and she must be HONORED, over and over again, and given a state burial when the time comes- I mean this woman's creativity is displayed in form of the flag of Ghana everywhere one looks for it in Ghana- the number symbol of pride, patriotism and solidarity by Ghanaians worldwide.. She should even be on the Council of Elders, and not being left to waste away..

When he changed Kumasi Sport Stadium to Baba Yara and that of Accra to Ohene Djan, they came back to change that to Accra Sports Stadium.

See, how petty these people are. When Kufuor built the jubilee house, they insulted him and even advised Mills not to move in. Yet, when they want to move in, not only did they apologize for their insults, but also had the temerity to change the name of Jubilee house.

Now, the founder of his own party is an "outsider" of his own party. These boys rise up and insult him day and night just because he hates their greedy mentality. Sooner than later, they are going to tell you that Mills is the FATHER of NDC. Why? Because, Mills allow them to do whatever they wanted to do.

The CPP members like this President that had infiltrated in the party want to take over and they are bent to do that. Somehow, I am glad that this stupidity had been backfired.

Let it be clear to you that many people in Ghana who had structures and buildings alongside the road also benefited from the money given for that project.

Question - have you ever heard any retired western head of state who have a mansion or building in any foreign land? Rawlings and Kuffour have a building each in Northern Virginia in US which I am aware of. At least a satan has given us one highway in the country which we are proud of it.

Lets take for example, the extraction of what once used to be "our" oil at the Jubilee fields. The Govt and people of Ghana, as I am made to understand, take about 12% of the annual revenue generated from the oil. This I am again made to understand, currently amounts to about $400 million. The rest goes to the British and American foreign investors. This I am again made to understand averages about $4 billion per annum. They have been mining "our" gold forever and thanks to Sam Jonah, it is now "their" gold on our land. I think it would be impossible to quantify how much of our gold, in terms of value, has dubiously made its way out of our country to our disadvantage. Lets forget about the many centuries that they also freely took away our diamonds, timber, bauxite, gold, slaves as human beings and whatever else they wished.

Now if today they throw a paltry $400 million at you to build a highway, is that enough justification for you to be so excited and grateful to the extent that you have now become their subservient watchman and pocket-lawyer?

People like you adamantly refuse to be sensible enough to see the bigger picture in life. You are so busy being grateful for crumbs that you dont notice it even when they are eating all of the main meal, the desert, the choice after-meal wines and sleeping with your wife on top.

I am not an admirer of both Rawlings and Kufuor but this your yarn about them having a building each in Northern Virginia, sounds like a tall story. Even if they do, whatever monies they might have 'stolen' to acquire such properties is insignificant compared with what your satanic friends surreptitiously continue loot from our country every year.
