  Doha a gunpowder cage Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas granting independent to part of their nation is what NATO members and their friends, even in Africa do not entertain and one of such case is Morocco's occupation of Saharawii Peoples Democratic Republic. In the Middle East Israeli occupation of the West Bank and Gazastrip still continue. In Europe the Basque area of Spain, Kurdish area of Turkey, Northern Ireland and others are issue of separatism that NATO members do not want to hear. The United States fights to remain whole, so is Britain, Germany and others. But the same people who knew well what separatism entails and the dangers, lost and human degradation it brings supports it diplomatically, military, logistics and propaganda in Russia, China, India, Yugoslavia (that led to are with thousands of people loosing their lives) and the case in point Dafur and the Sudan is not different from the issue of Yugoslavia and elsewhere.
  What pains some of us is how intellectual like you and Mr. Gbeho swallow this ruse of freedom and independence which the west does not entertain themselves but support for reasons best known to them hook, line and sinker.
  The question to ask you people is that how can Ghana which is advocating the unity of Africa send diplomats outside who undermine that call for unity by advocating separatism?
  It is said that an elder who allows a white ant hill unto his compound will be visited by lizards and in their wake snakes. You people presented the Sudan to the angles of instability who are now feasting like lizards and snakes, then why the cry. So you people wand us to believe that you do not know the results of your support for separatism in the Sudan and elsewhere, and to add even Al Qaeda? Its a shame and an unintelligent approach to conflicts.

  Good viewpoint on the inherent inconsistency and even hypocrisy of the western approach to multi-ethnic politics, but I find your underlying argument flawed. Especially in the case of Sudan, the divide being talked about politically is based on the observed divisions within the country itself, not some colonial-era partitioning of lands and groups. The locally bred tensions that exist within Sudan do indeed seem serious enough to warrant the establishment of two separate states, where the people of South Sudan may indeed feel safe from the tyranny and subjugation of the north.
  
  Yes, while it would be nice to see a unified Sudan, or even a unified Korea and the like, when that come at the cost of lives from the continued north vs south conflict that still continues, you really do have to question the cost/benefit of such an approach. I for one believe this approach is the lesser of two evils, but can also see your point where a unified and peaceful Sudan would be ideal. That is however not a realistic expectation given the current situation. Letting such idealism overshadow the continued death and destruction would not be what's best for the peoples of the Sudan
