If there's anything I would credit the Late President Atta Mills for, then it was his bold defense of the institution of marriage and the relationship between a man and a woman as the only union or relationship that has a place in the affairs of humankind and he's was unabashedly unapologetic about it. This was in the face of David Cameron's stance of pegging aid to the wholesale acquiescence of the adoption and promotion of gayism in Ghana and the African continent for that matter. The late Atta Mills was very emphatic about his stance on this and right thinking and well meaning Ghanaians applauded him for this very bold stance and his very much appreciated forceful rejection of any such attempts to push any inferior, dehumanizing and out-rightly condemnable practices on the generality of Ghanaians.
In comes the contested John Mahama and his position and stance is very much the opposite of his professed mentor and leader, who he looked up to. So what changed?
Under this NDC gov't headed by John Mahama, very strong gay lobbyists like Andrew Solomon have surfaced and are pushing strongly for gayism and all the negatives that go with it, in Ghana, and on the African continent with John Mahama, being asked to spearhead the effort of campaigning vigourously for the acceptance of such an abominable practice, which even dogs don't indulge in. It is also on record that, in furtherance of this objective, one of Africa's Presidents in the person of Nguema Nbasongo had cause to admonish the advancement of the issue of gayism, when he had the opportunity to speak to it in a meeting in which John Mahama was said to be present in a story on ghanaweb just a few weeks back.
John Mahama as a President has not spoken to the issue and all we have heard is statements from his communicators that he doesn't support the act and would not seek to promote it in Ghana or anywhere else for that matter. However, do the facts speak for themselves? Your guess is as good as mine. The contention of well meaning and right thinking Ghanaians is that, if the statements of the communicators of John Mahama are anything to go by, why is it that, with a parliamentary majority and his perceived abhorrence of this very act, he has not tabled a bill in parliament to proscribe this very act with the passage of such a bill into law, because really, all the stars are aligned in his favour to make the passage of such a bill possible unless, it is palpably clear that, indeed, John Mahama has taken up the challenge to spearhead the adoption and acceptance of the issue of homosexuality in Ghana and by extension the African continent for that matter. Ghanaians seek leadership in this matter to put this issue to rest once and for all, in the face of the exportation of the issue of gayism by David Cameron to the rest of the world and recent meetings between John Mahama and the UK PM.
