I dare say the Vanderpuiye brothers or cousins were enabled by the NDC. First he renamed the Ohene Djan Stadium and Atta Mess and Mahama took no action. They cheered him on as they themselves were to do the same regarding the Jubilee House, changing it back to a colonial relic Flagstaff House in the middle of the night.

To think they pooh-poohed on the building of the Jubilee House which has nothing to do with the actual house that Kwame Nkrumah lived in - which was still preserved by Kufour anyway - and go on and rename the new building as Flagstaff House was nothing short of idiocy. That attitude reflected Atta Mess' colonial brain map, and that action is what informed werewolf-faced Okoh Vanderpuiye to do the same, changing the name of national assets situated in Accra at will, stupidly believing that if they are on Ga land, they must belong to the Gas.

In like-minded manner, his cousin Nii Lante Vanderpuiye sought to restrain and actually bully non-Gas from registering to vote in the Odododiodoo constituency. These guys are tribal bigots hiding behind the NDC and misbehaving very badly. Okoh Vanderpuiye must go to the house of Madam Theodosia Okoh (née Asihene) and apologize profusely. After that he should resign himself if he has any honour left in him. Shameful people! If there is any name to change, shouldn't that be their inordinate name Vanderpuiye? Chronicling the events that unfolded during his incarceration, Ken Kuranchie has expressed doubt about the civilization of the country. He said: "we have no right to call ourselves civilized people.”. In his view, Ken Kuranchie, Editor-in-Chief of the Daily Searchlight, explained his 10-day prison experience after being declared contemptuous of court following a publication in his newspaper, said: "Ghanaians have no right to call themselves “civilized people” end of quote.

It was the same Obasanjo who helped Ghana with her oil needs by extending to her a better deal than the 90 day credit that was existing before the NPP took over in 2001,hence no fuel shortages during Kufuor's term even when oil hit the all time high of $147 a barrel.

You stay behind on issues like this and let the people know your "people," in this case the Mayor has regretted for doing something wrong.

He is just trying to bask in the reflected glory for being the one who turned things around and that is shameful. Was he not the one who wanted to turn the Jubilee house into a funeral ground but changed his mind because of public outcry? Fact is, he would have done nothing differently, had the people not raised their voices. You can't disgrace your own "mayor" in public and still keep him at post.

What a shame, why would he make this an issue in Cape Coast when the right thing has been done already.

In any case, much as I adore Kwame Nkrumah above any other world leader - past or present, I dont think it is proper to name too many places after him. It might degenerate to the level of Oko Vanderpuiyes comedy act.

With the exception of the anti-nationalist moles amongst us (and we all know who they are dont we?), there are other worthy personalities in our history who also contributed their bit before and after independence, to the liberation and development struggles of Ghana and Africa. They can also likewise be honored to serve as a beacon for our youth and society at large.

The name of the airport should actually be the first to be changed and it should have been changed over 30 years ago but there are some people in this country for whom that despicable and shameful name upon the airport, is the only source of pride. They are quick to make coups d'etat so every govt is afraid to touch that name. It has become an albatross around the neck of the nation.

The harm has already been done and the needless apology is very much unwarranted except for the political capital you would, it is presupposed, gain from such a gesture. Because, it just cannot be that, the renaming of such an edifice after your very own mentor, the Late Atta Mills, and one in which you hold very much in high esteem, would not have been brought to your notice for your approval, before such an action was taken. The attempt to throw dust into the eyes of some unsuspecting and gullible members of the society would suffice for a short while, but most invariably, it would catch up with you, just as a lot of the NDC's actions have caught up with them. The yarn which you are weaving would most definitely entangle you and choke you, because, you cannot fool all the people all of the time. The lady; Madam Theodosia Okoh deserved respect and not to be used as a pawn in the political games and machinations of the NDC party, albeit with a view to score political points. The Madam deserves better and shame unto the Presidency and all those who played a part in this narcissist agenda. It has fallen flat on it's face because some of us would call it for what it is, period.

If we all believe in the rule of law, then why should we abuse a District Assembly for doing what it does, naming a place.
The fact still remains that the Accra Hockey Pitch was build by the state under the presidency of the late President John Evans Atta Mills. The Accra Hockey Pitch was therefore opened by the late president.
Some NPP members and supporters are telling the public that the place was build by Mrs. Theodora Okoh, which is not true.
