The new levies and taxes have been necessitated by the need of government to get more revenue to run its programs. But then given that much of the monies government collect ends up in private pockets - you can't get anything done in Ghana without paying bribe first - I think it is safe to say we are oiling corruption. Bribery and corruption alone costs us billions of dollars every year.
Nothing will come out of these new taxes than to just line up the pockets of already corrupt civil servants. Mark my words.

John Mahama,(first president of Ghana with 24 children from 13 women),stop killing Ghanaians slowly.
How come a govt which promised improving the standard of living of Ghanaians if given the mandate to rule, resort to over-taxing the citizenry, when cost of living is at an all time high ?
Why should Ghanaians be paying more taxes on everything with the exception of air, when we are having additional revenues from oil since 2010 ?
If this is the so-called 'better Ghana', then we rather prefer 'pre-better Ghana' living that existed before these stealers came to power again.

No ! NDC government has becomes "let share and chop". Who are those sharing and chopping? The Ewes and some cronies around Nana Atopahene, John Mahama. Resist those levies, fellow patriotic Ghanaians.
NDC and its gang thieves will continue to loot the State Treasury for their own benefit. NDC is not in to help Ghanaians. Fellow Ghanaians, I think you are aware what NDC government destruction to Ghana. Don't let us give them more more to chop.

Please let us deal with the issues devoid of politics. We expect Gov't to do everything, ranging from roads, hospitals, pay salaries(Single Spine rates)etc. Just take a look at some of the increases, they are marginal. When I read the heading of this article, I quickly left whatever I was doing to read it.We need to compare our tax structures and salaries to other west African countries. Monthly water charges are at a minimum of 200 Gh cedis for residential areas in Cote d'Ivoire. Electricity charges are at a minimum of 600 Ghana cedis in Cote d'Ivoire.Doctors receive about 1000 Ghana cedis. Some of us who complain have been outside and know what for instance Uncle Sam will do to you as soon as you collect some money. Our standards of living I must confess have improved. Anytime I visit Ghana and see some of my mates, I just say hmmmmm, I wish I hadn't traveled but its too late taking my age into consideration. Let us discuss issues devoid of politics, for that is what is killing Ghana, our beloved country. Thank you.

I can tell you for sure that the government would have thought very deeply about this before sticking its reputation on fee increases. However, whichever way you look at it, these increases will never be enough. This is because the government ‘s action is prompted in part by lack of funds which is in fact the direct result of mismanagement, corruption and reckless governmental planning over the years. Therefore, you would expect that the first action of the government is rather to be brutish in checking corruption everywhere; from ministers to CEOs, to departmental heads of companies and public organisations right down to even market toll collectors. If this is not done root and branch, the government will be doomed for committing poor people to more hardships.
To be successful at ensuring efficiency, equity and fairness, Mahama in particular should be far more bullish than he is at the moment. This is because corruption is at the moment too engrained in Ghanaian culture with even ministers and CEOs having entrenched attitudes to steal government money and resources with impunity to enrich their families. Mahama will need to act very proactively whilst he is still in control to stamp out this wanton abuse or stand the risk of losing control altogether. If he is less decisive on corruption, he is more likely to face mass strike actions from all fronts than any government in the history of the nation. This is because even traditional NDCs will no longer be easily differentiated from die-hard NPPs. So beware your Excellency.
I believe that there should be more effective education on many issues e.g. on agriculture; i.e. with emphasis on growth and development of the entire cocoa and oil palm sectors, not just growing them, but processing them into end products and there should be root and branch change in attitudes about sanitation and employment especially in areas such as stone and quarry/road construction/ petroleum/bitumen industry to promote employment and local road construction etc. For instance, why can’t the government use money effectively to invigorate the former PWD concept in the light of the nation’s need for road construction and abundance of multiple manpower resources. Corrupt CEOs and ministers should be quickly sacked and imprisoned. The case for the government now is to either kick the rot or else there will be no production hence burdening poor people without any justification for fee increases.
I think I have made my case to justify why Mahama should stop people from wasting time and resources. I can see traits of waste that occurred in Mills’s government going on. This cannot be entertained and the answer will come from the President’s proactiveness. Please SACK and make sure corrupt people are SACKED as this will ultimately restore decency. Please sack corrupt ministers in particular to give the poor any chance of bettering their lot. Do not play party loyalty because that is not your role as the President of the nation. For you Mahama and you only, your job is to sack people who are found to be corrupt. Do not get me wrong for I am NDC and will remain NDC unless the party messes up. Ghana is too corrupt so you have to wield a heavy hand now. You are trying to raise the cost of services after various government officials from both parties have depleted government coffers and bled it dry. You understand that poor people will suffer the more and it is not the job of government to promote corruption and exploitation of the poor. It is perfectly understandable to increase the cost of services but this must go hand in hand with brutish discipline of all officials and departmental heads. Do not say you will do it. Please just do it now before it is too late for you. THIS IS YOUR PRESIDENCY; IT IS ALSO ABOUT YOUR PERSONAL REPUTATION.
