Prof. Asante should have hit the nail on the head: The media show be circumspect in their reportage.

Producers of radio programs and editors of newspapers must chose topics that will unite us rather than tears us apart for their news presentation and discussions.For example, refusing to report or bring up for discussions, nasty incidents or foul pronouncements of opinion leaders, would take nothing away from our media; yet contribute immensely to our peace. The media could rather inform law enforcement agencies about any such incidents.

Again, producers of radio and television discussion programs would give the nation a priceless gift if they would invite for their discussion programs, experts who can objectively discuss topics. I must mention for praise Peace FM for using this strategy to give listeners up-dates of proceedings at the SC, during the recent hearings of the election petition. At their 6pm news cast,they invited a lawyer who expertly narrated and interpreted what transpired at the court each day. This lawyer was very unbiased and provided a lot of education which made us understand properly what was happening.

That style was different from what the same station did on the 'Kokrokoo' morning discussion program, where discussants were from political parties. Some panel members had no idea at all, or had little knowledge and understanding of proceedings and fouled the air with the pronouncements.
