I agree with Ken. What did Mills ever do in his life to restore peace? Any record? Did he ever broker a peace deal? In fact his political life was always characterized by divisions and there is enough evidence to show it.

Mills came into the political scene when Rawlings beat his Vice President Ackaah. He never saw anything wrong with the brutalities of the Rawlings regime including "kume preko" and the shaving of Selassie Djentuh's head with broken bottles at the Castle. In fact when he was asked in 2003 about this despicable act perpetrated on a fellow Ghanaian at the seat of the Castle, Mills never condemned it but said that the Castle is a big place and that he wouldn't know everything that happened there.

When he was imposed on the NDC by Rawlings in 2000, some key men in NDC like Goosi Tandoh broke away to form his party. It is on record that he never made an attempt to reach out to them.

Again, during the Koforidua Congress in 2005, then NDC Chairman Obed Asamoah, Dep. Gen Secretary BEDE Zeideng and Women's Organizer Frances Essiam were beaten up mercilessly. At that time, Mills was in the Rawlings camp and therefore saw nothing wrong with the violence meted out to these individuals who opposed Rawlings dictatorial attitude in the NDC.

We all saw what happened in his time as President of Ghana. He allowed the the gov't sponsered Ga Youth Association to chase Kufuor out of the structure he had sought to use as office (he had made that request to Prez Mills through PV Obeng who was the head of the transitional team). Kufuor was subjected to all kinds of insults, with some Ga extremists chanting that Kufuor should go back to Kumasi where he comes from.

Again, we all saw the divisions that characterized his presidency both in party and outside the party. Ghana became more polarized than any other time in the history of our 4th Republic. Nana Akufo-Addo became the subject of all forms of insults and vilification. Mills appointees rained insults on the man, yet Mills said nothing. Even when the NPP called for issues-based politics, the NDC said no, character is rather more important. We all saw what the NDC, through the help of Bobie Ansah at Asempa FM did to Nana Addo. In fact the NDC made Nana Addo to appear as if he was another President in Ghana, even though it wasn't time for elections.

Mills only spoke when the NPP finally decided to engage the NDC in their own game. We remember the insults from the likes of Hannah Bissiw, Kobby Achaempong, Kwadwo Twum Boafo, Ablakwa, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, Anita De-Sooso, etc. As for his spokesman Koku Anyidoho, the least said about him the better.

The political life of President Atta-Mills shall be written in the future when emotions and sycophancy have been substituted with facts and common sense. Let us not cover the truth with insults so we can all learn lessons from people's lives.

Yes Ken is perhaps correct in challenging those who chose to call or label the late Atta Mills as a peaceful man etc but his reasoning will not do. There is not a single president or military coup leader under whose term in office killings did not take place, mismanagement did not happen and or insults did not fly out of the mouths of politicians and their antagonists like drunken sailors in Ghana. In fact I dare say to Ken Kuranchie and his worshiping fans that there is nothing more insulting to a person and his or her family than the act of murder as a result of criminality or starvation and sickness.
Allowing our leaders who come into office without a home worth a mole hill and cars not worth a dime only to leave office filthy rich is more insulting not only to the intelligence of Ghanaians but exposes Ghanaians as fools incapable of managing their own affairs since the departure of our colonial masters. Our thieving and mismanagement acts and a system incapable of purging our government and society of thieves in the highest offices of the land is more insulting and can only be seen and explained by others as signs of inferiority; calling someone ugly can be factual any day of the week. Ask the women who turn men down and or men who jilt women.

In fact we revisited the disgusting lawless bloody days of the fake revolutionary era in the 80s under his despicable misrule.

Is it because the NDC as a party did had some bloody and diabolical horrific plans against people they perceived to be their opponents that the late President did not allow them that to them made him peaceful?

Before his death Ghana experienced enough primitive acts of barbarism with the NDC hoodlums rampaging and attacking innocent Ghanaians with deadly weapons all over our streets especially at the Odododiodoo constituency where Akan speaking traders were physically attacked and their stores vandalized.

We also experienced the bitter abuses and unprintable slanderous attacks on political opponents whilst the sick President, Atta Mills sat in his "comfort" as a captive within the walls of the Castle.

He brought disunity to this nation and crime became officially an institution in Ghana. He was nothing but a national disaster!
