They have no solutions because they are too feeble minded and reality deep down they know its only by theft , trickery , election engineering /rigging , ideological lies and camouflage that they are there now and know it can not last . The national security is going round spreading the word they have the supreme court under control and have ensured the petition will not succeed , i guess they are able to blackmail the judges after all so there will be no justice . He graduated from the University of Ghana in 1967 with a B.Sc in Economics. Nana trained as a lawyer in England and was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and the Ghanaian Bar in 1975.

Under President Kufuor, Nana served as the Attorney-General and Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was the flagbearer of the party in the 2008 elections and was again elected in 2010 to be the flagbearer of the party in the upcoming 2012 elections.

1. THE MINISTER OF EDUCATION - THIS WOMAN IS SO EVASIVE THAT SHE WILL JUST SKIP CONTROVERSIAL ISSUES. WHILST THE VICE CHANCELLOR AT UCC, WHEN SHE SMELLS OF ANYTHING DELICATE, SHE WILL JUST TRAVEL OVERSEAS AND COME BACK WHEN THE DUST HAS SETTLED. SHE WILL THEN PLEAD THAT SHE WAS ABSENT IF ANY CRISES SHOULD OCCUR. THIS MADE HER A GOOD PERSON AS FAR AS GOVERNMENT AND OTHER MAJOR STAKEHOLDER WERE CONCERNED. SO MR PRESIDENT, BE CAREFUL.

2. THE DEPUTY MINISTER OF EDUCATION (OKUDJETO ABLAKWA) IS ALSO NOT MATURED. HE MAKES A LOT OF INFANTILE STATEMENTS SO THE LECTURERS DON'T RESPECT HIM. LET US COMPARE HIM WITH MR AYARIGAH (MINISTER OF INFORMATION). WHEN HE WAS THE DEPUTY IN CHARGE OF HIGHER EDUCATION, MANY ISSUES CROPPED UP AND HE HANDLED THEM WISELY. HE SPOKE PROFESSIONALLY, WITH TRUE FACTS, RESPECTED THE AUDIENCE AND ABOVE ALL MATURELY.

3. THIS IS NOT TO ADVISE THAT THE PRESIDENT DEMOTES MR AYARIGAH. BUT IT IS IMPORTANT THAT A BETTER PERSON, SOMEBODY WITH A MATURED MIND AND WHO WILL BE RESPECTED BY THE LECTURERS IS MADE TO NEGOTIATE.

The teachers have pointed to where the problem is and who then caused the delay in the payment necessitating the strike action. Someone was responsible and should be fired. This is where we should be pushing the agenda and not at personalities.

It is only in Ghana that Book and Research allowances are paid by government. Elsewhere professors "find" their own source of funding. Someone tell me why lecturers/professors can not source their own funding from industry?

You guys need to rise up and speak the truth. What you are suggesting in this article is the source of all ills in Ghana today: lack of respect for law and authority and the "I want it now attitude" which are all wrecking any form of civility we have left. How can you, in your right senses blame the presidency for a strike because it failed to act on an ultimatum? What has become of the Ghanaian gentlemanly approach to solving problems? What would happen if the presidency turned the tables around and ordered UTAG to design and produce a made in Ghana aircraft by 31/08/13 or lose their jobs? What would you say to that? What if they were given an ultimatum to come up with solutions to all our economic problems by 31/07/13 or be sentenced to life imprisonment? What messages would such acts be sending to the wider population? Or to give a more realistic ultimatum to all Ghanaian workers who resort to strike action all too often what would be their reaction if government, or the presidency that every one blames, brings out a proposal to increase wages by say 5% above rate of inflation on condition that every one increases productivity by the same percentage? You would be the very ones shouting at the top of your voices that government is overworking its citizens, etc. You can't have your cake and eat it.
Besides everyone is moaning about non-performing state institutions yet so quick to by-pass them and go direct to the presidency to resolve the most mundane of problems. How do you then expect the state institutions to ever get on their feet and do the job that they were created for? You have undermined them and you have wasted the president's precious time by going to meet him to resolve issues to do with wages. What is the commission for fair wages or whatever they're called paid for? The presidency must, as a matter of principle, refuse to deal with any such requests and refer disgruntled workers back to the relevant institutions to discuss their grievances. That would foster mutual respect among institutions and also encourage respect for authority. And may I dare to remind workers of all kind that the day is fast approaching when you will be remunerated by the hour and any hours lost in strike action will mean no pay. That is the case in most capitalist economies and Ghana cannot be an exception. When you are out striking you are not producing anything and the nation loses productivity. That then has a direct impact on government income, wage affordability and perpetuation of this evil vicious cycle that has gripped us as a nation. When will we ever learn that little drops of water make a mighty ocean? Let's try something.Let's all attempt to be at our productive best for just 6 months every year starting from this Monday and see what results that will bring the country. You don't have to be Albert Einstein to know that doing so alone (just be your best at whatever you do for 6 months, without strikes, complains, corruption, etc)will push Ghana several quantum leaps forward and we will all have a better country whoever the leader is. Charity begins at home and I call on UTAG members and all well-meaning Ghanaian citizens to look within for solutions to all our problems and stop blaming the presidency for every problem the nation faces. If your child goes to school and decides to smoke wee and party all night long 3 times a weeks instead of studying and ends up failing their exams who is to blame? The child or the parent who may have done everything possible to provide them with everything they need to study and become a successful person in life? Look in the mirror and see the cause of Ghana's problems. You don't see the president when you look in the mirror do you? If you do then you should have gone to specsavers.
