Short Biography:
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

He graduated from the University of Ghana in 1967 with a B.Sc in Economics. Nana trained as a lawyer in England and was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and the Ghanaian Bar in 1975.

Under President Kufuor, Nana served as the Attorney-General and Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was the flagbearer of the party in the 2008 elections and was again elected in 2010 to be the flagbearer of the party in the upcoming 2012 elections.

The power outages in Ghana are a direct result of inadequate maintenance and under capacity within the system.We are the only ones who spend billions to erect plants and buildings and care less about maintenance. WHAT PREVENTS GHANA GOV'T FROM BORROWING THIS AMOUNT AND INVESTING IT IN THESE THREE NEW OILFIELDS, AND STOP TAKING THAT DERISORY 10% PEANUTS FROM TULLOW OIL.

THE OIL BELONGS TO GHANA, THEREFORE THE COUNTRY NEEDS TO HOLD AT LEAST 51% MAJORITY STAKE IN THESE AND OTHER CRUDE OIL DEALS.

Significantly no mention of Ghana. So who owns the Jubilee fields, and what does Ghana get from it?

This is the problem we face - our resources are being exploited by foreign interests for their benefit. We get little or nothing from what is our own. The mining, oil, communication, aviation, major road-building and construction works are all controlled by foreign companies. So we do not have enough to balance our budget, let alone meet our development needs. We have to go cup-in-hand begging for loans to support our annual budget.

Our politicians are either blissfully unaware of our plight, or choose to ignore it. They just pursue their narrow, selfish political interests and don't care a whit about the people they are meant to be serving.

We must wake up and address this issue of the foreign domination of our economy! We are in the tight grip of neocolonialism, and need to free ourselves.
