Ministers saving government loans in their individual foreign accounts and keeping the interest accrued before releasing the capital to nation's coffers. Pratt even recommended Baako to be killed by the regime, thank God Baako was instead touchered violently and severely but his life was spared. This is what Kwesi Pratt can do. Short Biography:
Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

He graduated from the University of Ghana in 1967 with a B.Sc in Economics. Nana trained as a lawyer in England and was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and the Ghanaian Bar in 1975.

Under President Kufuor, Nana served as the Attorney-General and Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was the flagbearer of the party in the 2008 elections and was again elected in 2010 to be the flagbearer of the party in the upcoming 2012 elections.

The world have just heard what happened to ZIMBABWE. Some voters were told point blank that their names were not on the register. There is a difference between being registered and deciding not to vote and willing to vote and being told your name is not on the register. When the white rulers of the past years did it Mugabe called it COLONIALISM. Now he is doing the same to his own people.

For peace to prevail the people needs to decide for themselves by conducting a rerun of the presidential election. Now the masses have been educated and are aware of what do to in the event of a rerun.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo

He graduated from the University of Ghana in 1967 with a B.Sc in Economics. Nana trained as a lawyer in England and was called to the English Bar (Middle Temple) in 1971 and the Ghanaian Bar in 1975.

Under President Kufuor, Nana served as the Attorney-General and Minister for Foreign Affairs. He was the flagbearer of the party in the 2008 elections and was again elected in 2010 to be the flagbearer of the party in the upcoming 2012 elections.

“it is submitted that a pink sheet must be read as a whole and when so read, the errors it contains are discernible if one reads the form with the eye of a person desirous of conducting a careful analysis of its content as opposed to the eye of a person looking for errors and blank spaces for possible harvest of votes for annulment”(Electoral Commission Address, July 2013).

This statement by the EC is at the heart of the matter of the petition. It seems to me the petitioners have all along focused mainly on errors appearing on the pink sheets and choose to ignore the fact that the "pink sheet" is a RECORD SHEET which contains different sections dealing with different aspects of the RECORD.

To fully understand and appreciate the RECORD on a pink sheet, one needs to READ all sections, examine the data recorded and tally that with - the voter register and turn out, plus the actual number of BALLOTS cast and counted (minus spoilt ballots).

The issue with the pink sheets is therefore a case of SIMPLE ARITHMETIC and anyone with a 'trained eye' should be able to figure this out. Furthermore, anyone SEEKING THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH about the election and its outcome in terms of ACTUAL, VALID VOTES cast would upon scrutiny, be able to separate the HUMAN ERRORS from the REALITY of the COUNT.

I happen to believe that if the petitioners wished to do this, they could easily have done it and if they wished to ascertain the truth of the ballot, they could have and in my view, should have, thus sparing us all this huge cost which has brought us where we are.

Our electoral processes though not perfect, are I believe, very good and certainly much better than most across the continent. We also have a fairly reliable and honest population who (in spite of their individual political affiliations and preferences) would ordinarily do the job for which they have been paid - including monitoring and recording electoral results.

That there were such errors as have been admitted to by the EC to me is an admission of the 'imperfections' associated with work which is down to human error.

Some might read into this 'error' differently and I have read various opinions, some even suggesting the 'errors' admitted to here by the EC "could" have been "deliberate (in which case they cease to be errors and are therefore tantamount to criminality as far as I am concerned). I do not wish to go down that route in this opinion.

I am however very curious as to why in submitting their petition, the aggrieved party ONLY chose to focus on, and highlight constituencies in which the elected president won the ballot.

To show good faith, and to truly demonstrate their desire to uphold our democracy and help strengthen our electoral processes, many a neutral Ghanaian observer would have expected the petitioners to IDENTIFY and include a proportionate number of pink sheets from constituencies won by Nana Addo, to prove the case, that indeed there were "irregularities" and these were so widespread as to have affected the ballot. This would have proved to Ghanaians without doubt that the petitioners truly meant well and wanted the truth.

If that were the case, then the argument I have read elsewhere on this forum in which some have argued that one option for the SC judges in this case might be a "complete count" of all the ballots, might have been a plausible and sensible option to adopt.

However it is my opinion that such an opportunity has been lost partly because the petitioners chose to be so selective as to create the impression that if there were "irregularities", such anomalies ONLY occurred (and could have occurred) in the president's (and NDC's) "strongholds", and that constituencies which were Nana Addo-leaning had electoral officers who were HONEST, PERFECT and performed creditably without error!!

Within the bounds of scientific scrutiny and probability, simple scientific reasoning would suggest that in a sample population where all the members of that sample have received a similar level of training following careful selection; and been subjected to a similar task, any error and the margin of error should be UNIFORMLY SPREAD among the group. In other words, if as indeed the EC has admitted there were (in their eyes) "clerical errors" some of which "were illogical" (and you may read into this whatever you wish), then it seems rather peculiar and odd that such errors would only occur in certain constituencies.

The EC is saying in their address that though errors occurred, these were 'spotted' along the value chain and duly corrected so that in their submission, the record of the elections and the results they collated, compiled and announced were NOT affected by the errors which admittedly occurred (in some cases) but not on all sections of the pink sheet.

Now, based on the witness testimony that has gone on throughout this petition hearing, and based on my own impression of the knowledge, attention to detail, competencies and familiarity with all aspects of the electoral processes, I am inclined to believe the EC's version of events, and to accept their arguments about why the election results 'must' stand.

I know my views will not please certain sections of our readership but here is the thing: If the EC has overseen elections in the country satisfactorily with changes in party / government both in parliamentary majorities and presidential counts for the past 20 years; and if over that same period, there have been challenges to some aspects of the elections but by and large the overall results have held because all parties recognised that 'errors' occurred but were not large enough to affect the overall count, then what is so different this time round?

Furthermore, I want to believe that the EC has a hard earned reputation not just in Ghana but internationally and why would they want to ruin all that just for a 'pittance'? and certainly in the case of the EC commissioner who is due for retirement, why would he leave office in disgrace? There is simply no logic to it at all.

Earlier attempts by the petitioners to tie the EC with the president and the ruling party in some form of 'collusion' were abandoned because there was simply no traction along those lines. Readers would also recall that the parties could not even settle on their pleadings and the Supreme Court had to summarise for them the focus of the pleadings which have got us where we are now.

So, if the president and his party did not collude with the EC to defraud, why on earth would the EC single-handedly plan and execute such a diabolical act to 'help' the president win the elections at the expense of Nana Akufo Addo? It still does not make sense at all to me.

The truth be told, the pink sheets are not the ballot. They are simply a record of the ballot and what we all wish to see counted and accurately for that matter is the ballot.

If as the petitioners are pleading, over 4 million votes should be annulled because in some constituencies where the president won, there were found to be some errors in recording of some of the VOTES actually cast on pink sheets, it really makes you wonder what the petitioners think about our constitution and its provisions for universal adult suffrage, an issue which Nana Addo himself has trumpeted quite clearly about the 'sanctity of the vote'.

And just to answer the later, the question I would want you to answer is ,'who is bringing down the so call reputation of Afari Gyan down more than he himself as he clearly demonstrated in the witness box before the cameras and the world at large? This is the man who could not, as a commissioner of election , define 'over voting' when his own rules and regulations is very certain and clear on that. Was Afari Gyan not lying when he said he registered over 240,000 diaspora voters but could only account for just 705 or so in court, and if this is the man you claim to have international reputation , then I humbly beg to differ. You see you always try to sound a marverick, neutral and objective thinker but the malice and the mendacious muckraking behind your postings expose you as a supporter of the respondents when one try to read you closely. Or if the noble task of the petitioners to take up their grievance to the Supreme Court for clarity and amicable solution, as law abiding citizens make them bad people, so be it.
You also talk about bad faithsomewhere along the line which I also differ severally since the EC could have clear the air buy providing all the original pink sheets in court to make matters easy for those of you claiming bad fate on the part of the petitioners. How do you differentiate an error from clear case of wrong doing? You cannot rob in broad daylight and expect to get away with it!
Wrong is wrong, plain and simple. Petitioners did NOT create the pink sheets. How else would one be able to know right from wrong, except on the face of the 'pink sheet'. You need to study 'RECORDS'!
In your eyes you see wrong doing as errors and must be allowed to go unchecked. Not so fast! The case wouldn't have travelled this far in court.
Guys, anyone who thinks the nine member panel of SC judges is going to overlook these corrupt practises as 'errors' would only be living in a fool's paradise. It is easy to say this whereas you baboon has reiterated that the election you supervised on was absolutely fair and that Mahama won without the least suspicion. If you declaretoday that there were irregularities, then Ghanaians must be made to know what degree of irregularities and if the degree did not affect the results to the detriment of the losing party. If it did then there is no way that the losing camp will accept the verdict. Whatever it is, the EC should be held responsible for the whole problems and the NPP should not be victimized due to the errors committed by the commission.

All de petitioners were able to prove in court is de fact that: Nana Addo can only become president after de votes in de strong holds of his opponent are cancelled.
God spare us such a greedy leader who thinks that his ambition to be president supercedes de will of de majority of Ghanaians who clearly rejected him and his party as evident by de parliamentary results.

the law must take it cost no matter how and to the EC i will advice to re-take a clear statement other than what is read for the result if said to have had irregularities really has an effect on the results
declared.
