Afriyie probably now realises what many of us have seen for a long time and also realises the danger in they continue to deceive their supporters, that Mahama WON the elections purely on votes counted.

Yes, they may have gone to court with their petition but they have not (in my considered opinion) been able to provide the evidence of "gargantuan fraud" that they claimed characterised the 2012 elections.

I have argued all along that the NPP needs to start saving face and to regroup, atone for their 'sins' to the Ghanaian electorate, overhaul their 'sinking ship' and weed out the chaff (including himself), then play a proper role as a credible, balanced, wise and effective opposition, taking government to account. Then start palanning for 2016.

That has always been my view and still is, but will they listen? Politics is not a one-day affair, but requires short, medium and long term strategic planning but always with the electorate in mind. Remember, if you deceive, annoy, upset or take the electorate for granted, they will not forget.

If the NPP wants to prove this, they should ask Morgan Tsangirai and the MDC in Zimbabwe where even an ailing president (who in my view should have groomed a replacement 10 years ago) can still lead his party to a landslide against what people from outside thought was his 'last leg'!!!

This whole SC petition by the NPP had only one purpose / aim; to remove Afari Gyan and not to have the 2012 election results overturned. The petitioners know this. They see Afari Gyan as an obstacle to their electoral thievery. The advent of the biometric verification elevates their fears an immeasurable height; the reason they want Afari Gyan out. They know he knows every trick of theirs and would not allow their moles in the Electoral Commission to have their way. Thank God the petition has bolstered Afari Gyan's credibility and given many reasons he should continue as Ghana's fine EC boss unless he himself feels it is time to retire.

Dear folks, If there was any election that was stolen, then it should be the first round of 2008 elections. Mr. Addison, you are asking why 125,000 difference of votes with majority in parliament? Do you recollect what happened in 2008 elections first round where NDC won the majority parliamentary elections and Akuffo Addo won the first round of the presidential elections? I have followed all elections held in Ghana since 1992 and any party that won the majority in parliament, goes on to win the presidential elections. How did Akuffo Addo win the first round of the 2008 elections and then lost to late President Mills in the second round. Really it was the NPP which tried to steal the 2008 elections for Akuffo Addo but you know kings are enthroned by the Almighty so he never got it. How did Akuffo Addo lead in the first round and then lost in the second round, that should tell you a lot. It is amazing that it was only Akuffo Addo who had won elections in only two out of the ten regions in Ghana and wants to be declared the president. In Ghana elections, a lot of rigging goes on in Ashanti, Eastern and Volta regions but it is only Volta which is always the target. Remember also in 2008 second round elections when all of a sudden results from some constituencies in Ashanti declared earlier had to be bloated later all in helping Akuffo Addo to become the president, but you know " man proposes but God disposes". For NPP it is only when the won elections that the polls were free and fair. This same NPP showed blessings on Afari Djan in 2000 and 2004 elections and they are now condemning him just because they lost the 2012 elections.
