  l totally support the honourable prof Atuahene-Gima's advice. How can we in Africa be talking about development when we have not created the conducive atmosphere for leaning and development. Our educational system is completely out of date. The system needs a complete revamping. A careful study of the grading of African universities will show that we are far lagging behind. Institutes of higher learning in the western world account for about half of the research and development. Not to mention Military research and development institution such as Los Alamo's Laboratory in the USA or BAE in the UK. We in Africa don't have any course such as Astro-Physics, Astrology, Astronomy and yet we talk to much about science. What do we know practically about the milky- way galaxy, the Andromedia and how the knowledge of these subject is very important in today's world in terms of Science and technology. We only depend on the western world for every thing without trying on our own to see what we can also do to help ourself and the entire world. If we want to catch up with the rest of the world, then this the real time to listen to the urgent call of Professor Atuahene-Gima. The USA president Barak Huseine Obana was right when he said in Accra that we in Africa has to help ourself to develop. There is no one up there who will help us to develop at their expence. Its a complete falacy. They would not. l repeat they will not. Last but not the least. A college in Greenwich, London in July 2013 was given a locomotive engine as some rail tracts to use in their studies.You know they preparing these young SSS students now to become future Rail Engineers.
