I get confused so many times when monetary figures are mentioned. Last week I went away from a pair of sandals which the seller prices as 80 and went for one that sold for 15. Well, the first one was actually GHC 8.00 the the second one GHC15.00, so I ended up buying the more expensive one. The problem is that people mix the old with the new cedi without adding the "thousand" that will make it clear they mean the old currency. With this article if the figures are right then we should close all the gold mines because all their revenue to government put together is nothing near the 6 billion Ghana cedis the reporter has stated. The question is which cedi is he using?

Yeah, but the police pocketed gch30 billion. I was 'arrested' today on trumped up road offences and a bribe collected after which I was sent on my way. By the way one policeman said of the 'offence' ..."we allow it when there is traffic". So when is it right and when is it wrong? How many of these happen everyday? I would have 'gone to court' except I don't trust the judges either, and frankly I have better things to do than argue with an inspector who is so stupid she looks at the world's second most popular currency and asks what it is.
