This is so sad. Unfortunately Ghana has no social welfare programs to assist the father. Many in Ghana are dealing with family members who have mental illness. They have no where to turn for help.

So much is needed in Ghana. As a whole the general population suffers.
I pray for better days ahead.

There are many people in this situation with nobody or willing institutions to turn to and eventually end up doing things like this.
It will not be fair to blame this man alone, society and government must accept part of the blame. This is one of the characteristics of a failing state.

I hope that Ghana politicians will know that their success is that every child, parent, and the disable are well fed and sheltered. what profits a man if he gains the world and his friends are begging for ends meet?. we should have a system that caters to all who can not afford to eat. It does not cost much, especially in Africa. let us be our brother's keeper. it is good to do that.Shame on all of us including me for not even initiating care for the disable.

Its a very sad story but he just practicing what he knows best from the same society. The mental health instidtutions, the churches and the camps does the same thing. The government should arrest and charge them too.

jump into conclusion as why the father did that, forgetting that we as
a country do not think about the welfare of these people with special
disabilities. All the previous governments did little or nothing for the disabled. There should be welfare programs run by individuals, local communities as well as churches
and funded by both the state and some international agencies. The government should set aside some monies to be used to cater for such
programs. Disability should not be seen as hopeless or useless. When properly catered for or trained they would become no burden. Let us not turn our backs to them, for they are human beings too.

Women should look before they leaps for, there are a lot of such wicked,irresponsible
category of men around.There are those who run away from pregnancy,those who denies pregnancy(thks to DNA).Those who think their fellow men who gives eating money etc are fools.Could you believe some of these men are well educated? This could be the situation with this boy. What a sad story. Both father and son need help. The father should be cautioned and made to sign a bond of good parenthood for the boy, but he should not be imprisoned.
