here we go again, another pepeni idiot pratt trying to mislead the Akans and lull us into a comfort zone so we are unprepared . war will definitely come not because of a petition but rather because of the injustices , corruption and mentality of my time has come so let me chop some. all the signs of a prewar climate are now very evident , the army come out in full bravado force to scare the people , the national security calling for unnecessary meetings with political parties , people beginning to hoard food ,rice and canned goods , the list is endless . political parties dont cause wars rather it a time when new leaders are born . this political oligarchy has failed so the time is ripe for grass roots changes and that can only be achieved in war . don't believe the hype and stay vigilant and ready , long live the republic of Akan

These stupid kookoase idiots never learn to stop bleating their mouths into perpetual cowardice; and, why do Ashantis make so much noise yet know nothing about courage and bravery? Here we have this stupid boy calling himself Mills who, I am inclined to believe is trying to emulate that equally stupid Sir or Captain John Nobody, (whichever title is preferred). I was expecting that dark loud-mouthed sepia of NPP to display some extraordinarily bravado and be vocal in court yet he went pleading with his hands on his head and back like a confused juvenile twit before the SC judges. So, what is this stupid boy saying on the web? My advice to these non-entities called Mills, Adofo, Sarpong and Osei Tawiah is to ponder very deeply over the stupidity of their role model and do well to take a cue from the advice their captain was given by the judges before ever deciding to talk trash. Why did stupid Sir John not display those useless and laughable oketekyie or ‘wokum apim a apim beba’ hubris in court? So, please, stop making all these foolish kookophonic noises and give decent Ghanaians a deserving break. Kumasi people are indeed tarnishing the name of decent Akan people in multiple and diverse ways when in actual fact they are just unrepentant cowards.

MR. OWUSU Ansah I think you have goofed. Judges take decisions on the facts available and the laws relating to those particular facts. But the judges are human beings so their decisions are shaped by other factors. They are not robots. So if you come to court believing that you are innocent and show up shabbily dressed and pretentiously argue your way out of your case. You may end up in jail. I saw on TV when Ken's case was called and I saw the acrobatic display which Atta AKYIA and Ken himself tried to put up. Atta AKYIA came up as if he had some secret knowledge of the law and the facts relating to it. He and his client came up as if they wanted to have a day in court with the judges. At one point Atta AKYIA noted that that his client was going overboard and therefore asked permission of the court to go and counsel him. He himself may have noted that he started off badly so after COUNSELLING his client he never uttered any more word. I suspect that Atta aKyia came to court with his client thinking that they were there to argue as if with the NDC on a political platform. Did you notice the remarks of ATUGUBA about Sir John's body language in court. Everything matters in court. Elsewhere a known criminal is made to wash, clean up and wear a new suit to deceive the eyes of the judges. So the fact remains that Atta AKYIA got it wrong. His client's DEMEANOUR went wrong as well resulting in his passport to AKUSE prisons and the donation of the jumper. Emmanuel Owusu Ansah, please continue to study harder, you have a long way to go.

Owusu-Ansah, do you equate custodial sentence to seriousness when it comes to the administration of justice? To suggest that because Sir John and Adorye were not imprisoned by the SC and therefore that was a joke is very dishonest. The sentences passed on Sir John and Adorye were equally harsh.
You also seem to disregard the circumstances of the two trials. In the case of Ken Kuranchie and Stephen Atugiba, the Justices needed to send a strong message that they would not shy away from using their judicial powers to stop the court from being ridiculed and put into disrepute as well to ensure the peace and security of the state. In other words, Ken and the other guy were made examples or were sacrificial lambs. On the other hand, Sir John and Adorye were fortunate to have the benefit of individuals and institutions including the National Peace Council intervening on their behalf to plead for clemency. The SC Justices would have shown disrespect to all the leaders and institutions that appealed to them to temper justice with mercy if the had ignored the appeal and jailed them. That was the influencing factor and not the performance of their Attorney alone.
I also disagree with you that good Attorneys rely on evidence and sound argument to win cases. That is being economical with the truth. Court room drama is well executed by excellent defence and prosecution Attorneys with humour, jokes and others outside texbook or law to appeal and persuade judges for clemency when as you rightly said, there is no defence. Do not downplay the skills of Ayikoi-Otoo. He showed that he is an astute attorney.
To suggest that jokers such as Super OD could win cases in courts with jokers is to insult the legal profession, including the judges.

The problem, to a layman like me, is that there seems to be no unambiguously laid down definition of what constitutes "contempt of court". It seems the Judge has been endowed with all powers to define a statement as "contempt", and as soon as he has done that, there is no defense; apart from the Ghanaian "I BEG".
Is it really normal for a Justice Atuguba to be the accuser, Prosecutor, Judge, and Executioner, without any means of demanding an explanation?

Kofi, what you've just said shows that in the ANIMAL KINGDOM called Ghana, some folks are more equal than others. Yet,the CONSTITUTION says all citizens are EQUAL BEFORE THE LAW AND JUSTICE SHOULD BE DISPENSED EQUALLY FOR ALL - FROM THE PRESIDENT AND ASANTEHENE,TO KOFI AND AMA IN THE VILLAGES.
So Kuranchie and Atugiba did not get the same treatment from the Justices because they did not get outside support and pleas from "big shots", party honchos,Ghana Peace Council, Church leaders,et al ?
Next time KOFI,AMA and YOURS TRULY - poor illiterates from "Ghana akurase", go before the Justices,we shall appeal to the POPE and QUEEN ELIZABETH(Head of the Commonwealth)for help to set us free or get a slap on our wrists. Thanks.
PEACE

The writer seems to miss the point. When the judges sent Atubiga and Kuranchie to jail what followed nearly distracted the business of the court. So it did not make sense for the court to pursue this course to feed public debate over contempt of court. The issue is election petition. The judges are to determine the truth of the matter and apply the law as required. Beside that, they have the discretionary power to decide each case and the required punishment to be given.
