If 4 Ghanaians are gunned down just in front of the Agbogbloshie police station in 2009 and the police refuse to arrest the killers because they belong to the NDC, then you can envisage how lawless the NDC Police is.

If an NDC operative is caught on TV cameras shooting at innocent Ghanaians at Chereponi ,because they don't belong to the NDC and the NDC Police is unable to arrest that thug, then you can envisage how lawless the NDC Police is.

If a govt minister is ordered by the High court to vacate a building owned by a private person and the govt minister refuses to vacate the building, but the NDC Police refuse to arrest him then there is no doubt that the NDC Police is lawless.

Sometimes people talk as if precautional measures are at their disadvantage. The Police primary duty is to enforce the law and no talkative should be allowed prevent an institution to be proactive.

In their "overzealousness" to ensure public order against the backdrop of earlier scenes recorded at the court precincts leading from so-called demostrations, is it not proactivity on the part of the police to ban all demostrations until after the court verdict? Is this not simple reasoning? Is Kweku Baako saying that the police should spend time and resources at this crucial hour pursuing a court order enabling it to ban demostrations before doing so? The ability to reason is the essential difference between humans and animals. If Kweku Baako refuses to reason then I wouldn't know how else to descibe him.

I am sorry Kofi Abotsi, Blow man and Paparazzi you all have missed Kweku Baako's point. Sure we all want the Police to be proactive to maintain the PEACE but they must do so within the context of the laws of the land. All Kweku is saying is that the POLICE should seek legal authority or backing (court permission) to ban peaceful demonstrations. Our constitution mandates that freedom of expression by Ghanaians cannot be abridged. It is a fundamental right to our democracy. If we just accept that the Police can abridge our expressions without legal authority some day soon, an undemocratic government will use the Police to impose its will based on some perceived public danger against people who have legitimate reasons to express themselves. And that situation may likely be about YOUR issue.

I think most Ghanaians accept the demonstration ban due to the strong emotions arising due to the SC Petition case and are with the Police on this demonstration ban but they need to seek backing of the courts. That is the separation of powers enshrined in our constitution. That is what we mean by the Rule of Law. No one or government institution is above the Law! The President and institutions of governance including Parliament and the Judiciary.

Folks we turned our backs on decrees of the PNDC/AFRC/NLC and one Party State and decided to be governed by multi-party democracy under Rule of Law based on our natural humanity in "FREEDOM and JUSTICE". Note, we did not adopt PEACE first and then JUSTICE. Logically, a FREE people who live JUSTICE will achieve sustainable PEACE.

You may see Kweku Baako as the wrong messenger for the point he raised, BUT he is right on this point. Police's decision for demonstration ban may be wise but it must have some constitutional backing. The direction of the Presidency and the public mood are not enough to set the right precedent.

A lone tourist who is passing through the suburbs on the way to town by car, unfortunately experiences mechanical problems with the automobile. The car stalls and the tourist parks the car by the side of the road and waits for help.

Not much later, a farmer happens to pass by with a truck full of farm animals. The farmer offers the tourist a lift to town and proceeds to explain that he is bringing his farm animals to the town market, where they will be auctioned off to the highest bidders.

Well, it so happens that on the way to the town, the farmer being so engrossed in his story, unintentionally wanders into the other side of road where another vehicle is approaching in the other direction.

The farmer realizes his absent mindness and attempts to avoid the possible collision with the other vehicle. He just misses the other car, but unfortunately crashes the truck into the side of the road. The tourist winds up thrown into a ditch and suffers broken ribs and a broken arm and leg and is obviously in extreme pain. The farm animals are all messed up very badly and the farmer, although remaining inside the vehicle, still suffers cuts and scrapes.

The farmer gets out of the truck and looks at his farm animals.

The chickens all have broken limbs and can barely move. "These chickens are all useless! Nobody will want to buy these chickens anymore!" bellows the farmer. With that, he grabs and loads his shotgun and blows away the chickens.

Next, he sees the pigs and they are all lame and bleeding profusely. "These pigs are all worthless now! I'll get nothing for them!" yells the farmer. With great rage, the farmer reloads his shotgun and blows away the pigs.

The farmer looks at the sheep and they all have broken limbs and their wool is all bloodied. "Worthless sheep!" screams the farmer and with that, he reloads his shotgun and blows away the sheep.

Meanwhile, the injured tourist witnesses all of this carnage in great horror.

The farmer then moves over to the side of the ditch and looks at the tourist. "Are you okay down there?" asks the farmer.

"NEVER FELT BETTER IN MY ENTIRE LIFE!!!" the tourist yells back.

Amanfuo, Baako might be who he is and probably did not connect his message well but lets face reality. the only way citizens of a country can show their grievances is through demonstrations and what do we see a complete ban on demonstration giving the government more powers to throw anything on ghanaians. everything thing that hits the parliament floor is voted into law whether its for its goodness or detrimental to the financial standings of ghanaians. very soon your energy prices will be hiked about 100% in the name of we have to do it because it is necessary. how long can this go on while the topmost and their cronies continue to throw all sorts of bad economic decisions on the ordinary and yet you cant do anything to tell the government we do not accept such norms as they increases our financial woes. fellow countrymen the only way one can tell the government this is way too much is through demonstrations just to let them know they cant throw anything on us but what do we see, the police will not grant anyone the permit to hold such gatherings because they have been instructed to do so.
how far is this episode different from the story of the animal farm where african leaders and their cronies continue to do things that are very weird and uses the police to shield their nefarious acts.
a day of judgement is coming and God will redeem his people. my heart bleeds for africa and i pray God will make the counsel of every way ward african leader foolish just like he did to the high priest Ahetofel.
Baako might have his flows but the reality is the reality. the President just admitted the Gyeeda project was minced with a lot of corruption, but who is going after these people filling their account with what is supposed to be used on the project. teacher trainee allowances will soon be scrubbed and who suffers the rural folks who have a higher enrollment rate in such programs. yes we dont have money but yet the do nothing parliament wants an increase in rent allowances. we dont have money and yet our government has mysteriously created about 20 additional ministerial positions. you work so hard while those at the top make fool out of our natural resources.. tons of oil, gold etc get missing and yet nobody get arrested for these crimes that are looking us in the eye. people with position of trust do anything and get a way with it because they are supreme and above the law. this is the country we live in now, a country ones adorable and envious by all breaking in parts because our leaders have woefully failed africans God is watching. please it is true the police are being used to stop any demonstration to err our views. this is my humble contribution please take your time to digest what i wrote here and you will understand how we are being fooled and being divided so we cant see the nefarious activities of our leaders.

In the UK where I live, they have occasionally stopped EDL and other fascists groups from protesting if this was not in the public interest. Same as they would stop Muslim youths from demonstrating against soldiers returning from Afghanistan.
I think you are in the habit of trying to make headline news every weekend you step on radio. And I guess this is becoming a fetish. You always want to be on the front page of your competitors and so deliberately try to make news out of nothing.
