Evidence on the face of a document is a rebuttable presumption and the NDC together with the EC have shown that to the extent that the agents of the petitioners did not raise any objections to what happened at the polling stations, same results cannot be disputed. Indeed the errors have been aptly described as clerical errors which the NPP itself acknowledge it is. The NPP knows very well that it cannot win a case with such unconvincing evidence and so are ready for a defeat at the Supreme Court

This is in contrast with very large Ghanaian Missions Abroad that rather would be advising her citizens that would eventually hit the pockets of the citizens.

Therefore the precautionary measures taken by the American Embassy is spot on.

US, Canada and other countries that are warning their citizens to be cautious of any possible unrest are right in doing so. Every responsible government should do that. I don't understand why people are castigating them for doing what is right and just.

Just look at how they advise their people: “U.S. citizens in Ghana should avoid the offices of political parties, Ghana’s Supreme Court, the buildings of other institutions associated with the elections, and all political rallies”. I know some foreigners like to take pictures of mayhem, but the responsible government is asking its people to be careful. That is all.

Do you know what the foreign Minister of our Country did when the violence erupted in Egypt? She went to her personal twitter and "announced" that people should call or report to the Embassy. That is irresponsible government. The government was not being proactive. You don't wait until violence erupts before warning or trying to check on your people.

My mom is already registered with the Embassy. Actually, she does that every time she goes back to Ghana. I have always insisted that she does that. That is being proactive and making sure that she is safe. Should the foot soldiers from both parties start burning Ghana- may God forbid- she would be "helicoptered" to the nearest country by the USA government.

Our government should learn from the US government.

Our Embassies. I have always advocated for most of them to be shut down for lack of performance and in an Age of Internet, just combine assignments and save money.

I have a great solution. They SC should disqualify both leaders and banning the two parties for five years and call for fresh elections. That will be a good solution, a lesson to both and a victory for Ghana.

On this specific case, what you should know is this, the warning is coming from the government. It is standard procedure they have to follow. Don't you remember the closure of all their embassies in the Middle East and Northern Africa before the end of the Ramadan? I still don't see anything wrong with it. And I wish, our numerous useless Ambassadors loitered around the globe will learn something from this.

On this Ambassador, can you tell me or give me a link that he does not deserve to be here or to become an Ambassador for the USA?

The document dump of classified U.S. diplomatic cables is starting to jeopardize the positions of American ambassadors who sent the State Department candid reports on sensitive subjects, as foreign governments complain about the leaks and nervous officials in Washington try to deal with the fallout.

Gene Cretz, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, is waiting to find out whether his foreign service career is over, after the Libyan government privately expressed its outrage over a cable he sent in 2009 that described Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi as the “world’s longest-serving dictator” who fears flying over water and never travels without his “voluptuous blonde” Ukrainian nurse. Mr. Cretz was recalled to Washington after the Libyan complaints over the cable.

Embassy Row first reported on the Libyan cable on Dec. 3, as part of its coverage of hundreds of thousands of documents released by the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

Kathleen Stephens, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, remains in Seoul, but officials there are privately grumbling over the leak of cables she wrote about South Korean relations with communist North Korea.

South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported Thursday that leaks put her in an “awkward situation” because some South Korean officials are now reluctant to speak to her forthrightly in private meetings.

“Stephens told [South Korean officials] last month that she is under a lot of stress because of WikiLeaks,” the newspaper reported.

However, the newspaper added that some officials do not hold her responsible because she was just doing her job.

“She shouldn’t be disadvantaged by the leaked cables,” one South Korean diplomat said.

In a February 2010 cable, the ambassador reported on a private conversation with Deputy Foreign Minister Chun Yung-woo, who told her that “China would not be able to stop North Korea’s collapse following the death of [dictator] Kim Jong-il.” He added that North Korea has already “collapsed economically and would collapse politically two to three years after the death of Kim,” the ambassador reported.

Mr. Cretz’s position remains more unclear. London’s Daily Mail newspaper reported that “he has lost his job.” However, a State Department spokesman downplayed the controversy.

Calling the U.S.-Libya relationship “complex,” P.J. Crowley on Wednesday told reporters that Mr. Cretz is in Washington “to reflect on both where we stand in that relationship and his role as part of that.”

HOLLYWOOD DIPLOMATS

Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez has a solution for the diplomatic deadlock he created by rejecting a career diplomat as the next U.S. ambassador to his South American country.

In a televised speech Tuesday, he said he would accept left-wing Hollywood activists Oliver Stone, director of political conspiracy films, or Sean Penn, the pugnacious, Oscar-winning actor who defends Mr. Chavez and Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

I know they have a right to warn their citizens, it is about the timing, and the undercurrent information and once again history that brings out the anger in people. I quiet remember my father telling me a story about a US tutor he had during the time leading to the end of the Nkrumah Era. He did certain things and disappeared after the coup. My father never trusted that guy. It is time we get grip of our country and force positive changes. Look how hard it is to raise and solve problems in Ghana, any conflict will put us in the brackets of Liberia and Serra Leone.

From you link, It does not change the fact that, USA does not have permanent friends but rather permanent interests. And that is what he did in Libya. it seems he did extremely well for his country and I don't see why he should not be appointed as an Ambassador.

This timing? When do you think it is the best time to warn your citizens about possible unrest in another country? How could you guys eat your cake and turn 180 degrees to request it back? Are you not the same guys who are so scared that something might happen and therefore Atuguba was right in jailing people to deter others? If Atuguba and some of you are afraid why should the United States not be afraid? Do you see how illogical it sounds?

Like I said, we need to channel our energies and frustration on our Leaders and not on foreign leaders. When your leaders are walking around with bowl their hands for pennies, they don't have a choice.

I mean very clearly, the US Mission in Ghana could have been more discreet and circumspect about managing this information in such a way that it does not fray the nerves of the people and govt of the host nation - at least, those who are still proud to be Ghanaians and not the teeming numbers of disappointed wannabe Americans who dont want to face the admittedly difficult responsibilities of national development but want to either 'run away' to go and enjoy what others have sweated with their blood to build for themselves or have it showered upon us as aid, here in Ghana.

Surely the US Embassy has the phone numbers and email addresses of the dwindling numbers of US citizens in Ghana. Why didnt they apply this faster and better conduit to deal with the issue instead of coming out in a way that appeared as if they publicly want to stoke the fires of a boiling cauldron. Why??

Can you imagine if the diplomatic mission of some African country in the US had unwisely issued a similar public warning when Trayvon Martin, like so many other African-Americans, was unjustifiably shot dead, and the tensions that followed the subsequent unfortunate judgment of the court case that followed?

Can we even imagine the Chinese or the Russian diplomatic missions in the US, their co-equals in terms of political strength, publicly issuing out such warnings on the many occasions of international political stand-offs such as the Snowden affair?

This is an area where we can favorably advise the Americans on how to better manage such a situation.

Many Ghanaians are still mindful of the unfortunate role that the US played in toppling the govt of the greatest African that ever lived - the Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah and I would have wished, if the US is remorseful of that blight in our govt to govt relations, that they had approached this matter differently in such a way as to show mutual respect between us.

I think your description of Ghanaians is true - alas, to a fault. However there is a breaking point to the patience of every living thing and much as I do not in any way think that there will be a large scale social crisis after the judgment of this matter, there are still simmering tensions as a result of the in-built tensions between the two political parties at the heart of this matter. And this, more than what the outcome of the court case will be, must be permanently dealt with if it is not degenerate into what we are all now fearing may happen.

The problem is really the western style of democracy that we are practicing. It divides rather than unites.

As far as I know, all under-privileged people in whatever situation and wherever they are in this world need unity more than anything else to get over their problems. We cannot therefore continue with this system which is just a slightly polished version of the slave system, as a tool for development.

When you have a scenario of western democracy and you throw in the substance of overwhelming poverty and conditions of screaming under-development, the damaging effects you are bound to have is more destructive than a nuclear weapon. It kills more people from its effect of entrenched poverty, bad management of state institutions, corruption and inept politicians who have been voted for on frivolous reasons such as religion and ethnic bigotry and therefore do not have a clue as to how to help their constituents other than doling out peanuts for funeral activities.

We must strive to find a system that will rather unite us all to face the gargantuan task ahead of us instead wasting precious time over which stupid and inept group of thieves and proven incompetent politicians won or did not win the elections.

The document dump of classified U.S. diplomatic cables is starting to jeopardize the positions of American ambassadors who sent the State Department candid reports on sensitive subjects, as foreign governments complain about the leaks and nervous officials in Washington try to deal with the fallout.

Gene Cretz, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, is waiting to find out whether his foreign service career is over, after the Libyan government privately expressed its outrage over a cable he sent in 2009 that described Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi as the “world’s longest-serving dictator” who fears flying over water and never travels without his “voluptuous blonde” Ukrainian nurse. Mr. Cretz was recalled to Washington after the Libyan complaints over the cable.

Embassy Row first reported on the Libyan cable on Dec. 3, as part of its coverage of hundreds of thousands of documents released by the anti-secrecy website WikiLeaks.

Kathleen Stephens, the U.S. ambassador to South Korea, remains in Seoul, but officials there are privately grumbling over the leak of cables she wrote about South Korean relations with communist North Korea.

South Korea’s Chosun Ilbo newspaper reported Thursday that leaks put her in an “awkward situation” because some South Korean officials are now reluctant to speak to her forthrightly in private meetings.

“Stephens told [South Korean officials] last month that she is under a lot of stress because of WikiLeaks,” the newspaper reported.

However, the newspaper added that some officials do not hold her responsible because she was just doing her job.

“She shouldn’t be disadvantaged by the leaked cables,” one South Korean diplomat said.

In a February 2010 cable, the ambassador reported on a private conversation with Deputy Foreign Minister Chun Yung-woo, who told her that “China would not be able to stop North Korea’s collapse following the death of [dictator] Kim Jong-il.” He added that North Korea has already “collapsed economically and would collapse politically two to three years after the death of Kim,” the ambassador reported.

Mr. Cretz’s position remains more unclear. London’s Daily Mail newspaper reported that “he has lost his job.” However, a State Department spokesman downplayed the controversy.

Calling the U.S.-Libya relationship “complex,” P.J. Crowley on Wednesday told reporters that Mr. Cretz is in Washington “to reflect on both where we stand in that relationship and his role as part of that.”

HOLLYWOOD DIPLOMATS

Venezuelan strongman Hugo Chavez has a solution for the diplomatic deadlock he created by rejecting a career diplomat as the next U.S. ambassador to his South American country.

In a televised speech Tuesday, he said he would accept left-wing Hollywood activists Oliver Stone, director of political conspiracy films, or Sean Penn, the pugnacious, Oscar-winning actor who defends Mr. Chavez and Cuban dictator Fidel Castro.

When I was a lad, my father used to send me out to the fields each day to watch over his sheep. Hey-now, there are worse jobs than sitting out in the fresh air all day, but it was boring work for a lad. I longed to be running around with my friends, playing ball, or making boyish mischief.

“Can’t the sheep look after themselves?” I asked my father. “After all, they know how to bleat and munch grass, and there isn’t much else that they do.”

But father said it was important work. And most of importantly of all, I must keep my eyes peeled for the wolf, in case he came sneaking into the fields and grabbed one of the spring lambs.

And so I couldn’t even go to sleep. I had to sit and keep a sharp look out. After a few weeks of this, I got so bored that I began to wish that the wolf would show up and give me something to do.

And then I got thinking to myself. Let’s liven things up a bit, I thought. Let’s play a trick on the villagers. And so I got up and ran as fast as I could into the village shouting at the top of my voice:

“Wolf ! Wolf WOOOOOOOOLF !”

And the villagers grabbed sticks, rolling pins, and pitch-folks and came running up to the field to chase away the wolf.

But when they got there, all was peaceful. The lambs were frolicking as usual, quite unmolested.
And I laughed

“Ha ha! Fooled you all !”

But none of the villagers laughed with me. Some of them grumbled and the blacksmith became quite angry and shouted at me. But he was just a bad sport who couldn’t see the funny side of my joke.

And so a week later I did the same thing again, only this time I put on an even better act. I daubed red paint on my arm, and pretended that the wolf had bitten me. This fooled even the blacksmith, who was on his guard after the last trick I had played.

And when they all arrived breathless in the field I again called out:

“Ha Ha ! Fooled you!”

And this time, quite a few of the villagers were angry with me, and I got quite an ear-wigging from the blacksmith, the teacher, and the iron-monger. When I got home, my father was furious and told me that I had a stupid sense of humour. But I thought it was funny. And so did my friends.

About a week after that, I was sitting up on the hill watching my father’s sheep as usual. It was getting on for evening, and the sun was setting behind the forrest. I would have to spend the night out there, and oh, how lonely and bored was I. Then all of a sudden the sheep dogs started to bark and the flock was running around and bleating like they had all gone mad. Only they hadn’t. There was a wolf among the sheep and he had seized a lamb.
Wolf ! Wolf ! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLF !” I called out and I ran into the village to get help.

But nobody came. Not one villager. They carried on doing whatever they were doing. Eating supper, drinking ale, or finishing off their work for the day.

‘But please,” I said to the blacksmith, “This time it’s true. There really is a wolf.”

And he just shrugged his shoulders.

You see nobody believes a liar, even when he’s speaking the truth.

And that’s why you should never cry wolf unless you really mean it.

Arent they sickening? if all is well and nothing need to be worried about, why is the clergy shouting or peace? Why are we hosting peace concerts? I love God and believe in Him 100%. One thing we always forget is that God will not come down in person to grant us peace. It is our choice to chose to live in peace and harmony or at war with each other. I don't understand why people are castigating them for doing what is right and just.

Just look at how they advise their people: “U.S. citizens in Ghana should avoid the offices of political parties, Ghana’s Supreme Court, the buildings of other institutions associated with the elections, and all political rallies”. I know some foreigners like to take pictures of mayhem, but the responsible government is asking its people to be careful. That is all.

Do you know what the foreign Minister of our Country did when the violence erupted in Egypt? She went to her personal twitter and "announced" that people should call or report to the Embassy. That is irresponsible government. The government was not being proactive. You don't wait until violence erupts before warning or trying to check on your people.

My mom is already registered with the Embassy. Actually, she does that every time she goes back to Ghana. I have always insisted that she does that. That is being proactive and making sure that she is safe. Should the foot soldiers from both parties start burning Ghana- may God forbid- she would be "helicoptered" to the nearest country by the USA government.

Our government should learn from the US government.

After taking good care of me, I had to make sure that I take good care of my mom. And the best way to take care of her to advise her to be responsible. Do you have problem with that? We all must demonstrate very copiously highest sense of patience, tolerance and maturity to stay clear of all forms of violence.

We certainly must act swiftly to prove to the US and the entire world that Ghana is indeed different! Life is not all about winning political power! Lost today win tomorrow you may! We can still go about our daily chores and maintain peace and order even in the face of political wrangling.

The security apparatus must be up and doing and nib every single pocket of violence in the bud! They must do it professionally.

And above all let all that call on the name of the Omnipotent God to be more sombre in their call for mercy and more fervent in their prayers for this country. When we join our hearts together in such knitted agreement, things would happen. God Almighty would hear us and no evil, I mean no war or violence or anarchy would happen in the land!

Any citizen who disturbs others by demonstrating against the SC's decision must be arrested and severely sanctioned. It's the only way we can avoid the occurrence of a defeat being taken to Court in future.
As regard the US Embassy's reaction it's god for their citizens but alarmist and sad for the image and reputation of Ghana a country known to be an example of stability and peace in West Africa. but once again, NP is the one selling and humiliating our country through their will to get power at all cost. My dear NDC folks, my message to you all is simple: Let's respect the Supreme Courts decision on the D-day. We have nothing to lose because we know that it was a stolen verdict, just to teach Akufo-Addo a lesson. Unfortunately that mission has backfired. We didn't think for a moment that they could seek redress in court. As it stands now, we can't fight a lost battle. The evidence tendered by the petitioners was so overwhelming. The live telecast of events cannot be downplayed since the whole world watched proceedings, and people can form their own judgement. Indeed, we admit that the elections were fraught with irregularities, errors, over-voting, unsigned pink sheets and things like that. Clearly, so significant were these irregularities that, it should take a miracle or maybe God's intervention for us to win this case. And, it would even be a consideration in our favour if the Honourable Judges give a ruling for re-run. Should that happen we will heave a sigh of relief and thank God.

The Office of the President wishes to render its unqualified apologies to all NDC supporters. We cherish you so much and do sincerely appeal to you all to remain calm, and be law abiding. Let no one indulge in any acts of terrorism, violence or indiscipline that will disturb the peace. The Security Agents are already on high alert to ruthlessly and justifiably deal with persons who breach the law. No government official will spare the time seeking to intervene on behalf of any culprits who face judicial actions in court for any breach of the law.

We, however, promise to change our election strategy in future elections to ensure that we win hands down. Remember, it's always GHANA FIRST before any political party. shut the US embassy in Ghana for sometime. They are dangerous like Akuffo Addo.

Also the immigration must make sure non of the petitioners in the case leave the country before the judgement and for a while after.
