There we go, investors in the banking industry should brace themselves for huge non-operating losses, as banks write off these non-performing loans (NPLs) on their balance sheet. What this means is that the profits these banks have been declaring are grossly overstated!!
Watch out for those who borrowed with cheap collateral; they will have a field day and run. These are the major problems in our banking industry that authorities and analysts have refused to talk about. Behaving like the proverbial ostrich will not help at all. We need leaders and managers with guts, as someone said recently.
