I wonder why some persons have always made it an agenda to deliberately stoke fires when same might have run their lives. I find the comments of Lawyer Ursula Owusu very far fetched and terribly misplaced. In the first place how can she compare a whole embassy to an individual? In dealing with the American Embassy one is dealing with another country and dealings at such levels require a lot of diplomacy and tact. It will therefore amount to errant stupidity to expect the government to go at the embassy even where it is displeased with its comments. That is not to say Otabil does not deserve some decorous reaction from the government where and when he errs. But the case of Otabil has been a different ball game and seem to have been consistent in painting the government of the NDC with the worse of brushes and brooms. Indeed the utterances Mensah Otabil has not been an isolated case. He is on record to have said something quite distasteful to Nana Akufo Addo's free school fees and all. When he realised that the said utterance was not going down well for a certain political party, he came out, called person all kinds of names and even chastised John Mahama for his perceived aloofness, to the extent that when some religious leaders were met at the castle, he chose to be absent. In fact it is an open secret that Otabil is an NPP sympathiser. But thatr is not even the issue. He can choose to support any party for what he cares. It is his holier than thou postures which are disgusting and in fact unnerving. But lets all remember the context in which the Otabil supreme court utterance was made. He came up in the morning in his church, probably havent't slept rough with the wife, belicosing of hell and brimstone if one did not pray. Then after some few moments of prayer, this self same man takes up the posture of a representative of God, declaring that there will be no such things that he had talked about some few minutes earlier in the day. Is that to say that he did not know that after embarking on a prayer, Good will grant us that tranquil environment that we all yearn for? Truth is that we all believe in God and in his divine interventions but it appears these conmen who are exploiting the name of God for their own stomachs are taking all of us for a ride and it is high time we made them know that they are but men like all of us. Just listen to the recent effusions of Duncan Williams talking about curses and all in Ghana Ivory Coast and NIgeria. They should all give us a break. I thought Ursula's silence for some time now had been golden. She should try and get away from these cheap political gimmicks. They do not help her image as a lawyer and a politician.

It was hypocritical of the people who claim to be spreading democracy. One of the weaknesses or problems of Ghanaians and other Africans is their desire to place their own rights and judgements under the subjection of Western governments, western countries, western people or simply Whites. Ask the average Ghanaian about the election and his/her immediate response is: why are we wasting time going to court if the western observers say the elections was fair? We must take necessary steps to gradually reverse this sickness. The west, in most cases, is not our measure of good or bad, right or wrong, and fairness or unfairness.
