I agree with you! What are the characteristics of these team Z lawyers?
1. They end up sending their clients to prison.
2. They scandalize the court after judgement calling the judges names.

What a foolish lawyer! So this lawyer witnesses should have been drawn from both Abudu and Andani gates, or from NPP and NDC? A witness is one who witnessed the incident before the court, so what is this lawyer confusing himself about?
Being a bad lawyer who did a poor job he is now turning the case NDC-NPP divide. Why politicise crime?

They should know that they cannot win all cases.

Some Ghana Lawyers are simply good and can perform evenly well with their colleagues on the international platform. I am talking about the old lawyers most of which were trained outside the country.
The lawyers who are trained in Ghana, for some reason, and their performances make the training they receive in Ghana, questionable.
The reasoning they put forward in the public arena, be it public policy or crime, or cases, even from a lay man's judgment, do not merit good advocacy.
We have seen many: the Owusu Afriyies, Baako, and the likes. It's a shame.

I can't agree with you more than this. A lawyer who believes in the rule of law knows that he should not prosecute his case in the court of public opinion, political expediency and ethnic bigotry but in the law courts. It is shame to refer to the accused as coming from one side of the conflict divide in Dagbon and from NPP when their actions are purely criminal whether they are from NDC, NPP, PNC, CPP etc.

Do supporters of NPP want to tell us if a crime is committed in Ghana, should they look at the political party the perpetrator are affiliate before they pass judgement? I want to know if the time they were committing the crime they were in NPP colours? If we do not change in Ghana, we will find it difficult to arrest and prosecute arm robbers. They too are affiliated to political parties in Ghana.

This lawyer should be very very careful the way he mingles in ABUDU/ANDANI issues. What does he know about the Dagbon divide?. Any criminal act from Tamale should be interpreted as abudu/andani matter. This was an attack on buchers by the gun wielding gang. They killed one butcher and wounded five others. The murderers are arrested and all that this hopeless lawyer can say is that the dead person was an ndc activist?.So, it the dead person was an ndc activist, he should be killed by an npp activist? What made the dead person an ndc activist?. If this lawyer does not know dagbon well, he should go and ask the late Afrifa what he went through when he visited tamale after mingling in our divide. this lawyer should be very careful and watch his steps and utterances very well whiles in Tamale. To borrow sir john wards, the farmily of this lawyer should advice him if they don't want to perform funeral of this stupid apology of a lawyer.

The reason some of us believe in capital punishment as a 'deterrent of last resort' is precisely because if the lawyer in this case sees it as "very bad or ugly" his client (s) should have similarly seen their barbarious, wicked and merciless acts as even worse!!!
Since he was the defence lawyer, first of all he has first and information about the guilt or otherwise of his client (s). Did the murderer show any remorse? Did he describe to he (lawyer) what he and his gang did to the poor fella they murdered in cold blood for a 'political pot of koko'?
I reject this logic of "argumentum ad miserocodium" after the fact. Your client has been convicted of murder in cold blood.
He wickedly and brutally took someone else's life. He is tried in a court of law following standard procedures, and found guilty as charged. He is given the RIGHT and appropriate sentence. Then you seek PITY for the person who did not show any mercy to his victim who must have been pleading with the gang and begging for mercy!!
This is not about an eye for an eye. It is about appropriate justice for the victim and his family!!! It is not all cases involving the loss of human life in which our law demands death (by whatever means).
However when the law prescribes that particular approach, it is because the person involved actually deserves it. You can appeal if you wish, because it is within your client's right to appeal. Why not go ahead and do that instead of this silly posturing?
