There's is an increasing trend that has gained notoriety amongst the NDC party that, they are above the law and recent happenings have not really proven political pundits wrong in this assertion. The case of Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, the case of the Agbobloshie massacre, and this profound gaffe from a member of the ruling party, which clearly, seeks to pitch the strength of the Executive and by extension, the NDC party against the judiciary arm of gov't, in this election petition. From the NDC party's antecedents, this is most obviously hardly a stretch, however, it's about time, the RULE OF LAW in a democratic dispensation is upheld and deemed as SACROSANCT. The comments of the Minister is clearly untoward, ill-informed, very inappropriate, very offensive and quite clearly, inflammable. This is not the direction Ghana needs to be going and it would be extremely right and proper for the Minister, to be very circumspective and guarded in his utterances.

Murtala is clearly stating a constitutional fact. Which institution is charged solely with the power to declare a president to have won an election? Is it the EC or the Supreme Court?
The Supreme Court may have the power to declare an election annulled and order re-election but can never and ever declare one as an elected president. They can only endorse an EC declared president. Learn! NPP!
