The verdict of the Supreme Court Judges has further provided a boost to the image of the EC, and particularly Dr. Afari Djan. Why? The 9 judges unanimously dismissed outright the case of:UNKNOWN POLLING STATION CENTRES;MULTIPLE SERIAL NUMBERS; and SAME POLLING STATION CODE FOR ONE POLLING STATION.
These three issues are where Dr. Afafi Djan's image was at stake. Imagine the Judges upholding these issues in favour of the Petitioners?. That would have destroyed the image of Dr. Afari Djan forever!I have religiously followed the proceeding at the Supreme Court from the beginning to the end.Infact I predicted a 9-0 win in favour of the respondents.I have not read the reasoning of the minority of the Judges who partially upheld the issues of:OVER-VOTING;VOTING WITHOUT VERIFICATION; UNSIGNED PINK SHEETS BY PRESIDING OFFICERS. I said PARTIALLY upheld because the issue of the PETITIONERS was TOTAL ANNULMENT OF VOTES.The petitioners did not provide a window for a RE-RUN.Therefore in my estimation,all the 9 Judges also DISMISSED the 3 issues above.Indeed in the wisdom of those minority judges they provided the re-run opportunity because I believe they were looking at Article 42 of the constitution and could not disenfranchise eligible voters.I am not a legal expect(however I also belong to a respected profession)but I believe the Judges could have dismissed the 3 issues but provided an OBITER stating the the petitioners could have provided for the re-run. I must confess that I have not read the full reasons given in the ruling which I am yet to procure a copy.I am only conjecturing for now.I had all along said that Nana Akufo Addo knew he had no case.I would be very much surprised if he sitting down at the court did not know he had lost the case!I also believe that he sent the case to the Supreme Court to avert the immediate wrath of the NPP supporters.He has rested for 8 months under the canopy of the Supreme Court and and shifted the attention of his followers on the Judges.If you listened to the supporters of the NPP(especially the women)they have now turned their anger of the Supreme Court Judges with some of them raining cures on them!
What the NPP sought to do was to discredit Dr. Afari Djan!. You only had to listen to Dr. Bawumiah lambasting him in the witness box.You see, it is like the DEVIL who knows his end is near and would not like to go alone but to recruit other people to go with him.The message of what I have for Nana Akufo Addo, Dr. Bawumiah and Mr. Obitsebi Lamptey is that, the physical battle is now ended.What is left is the SPIRITUAL BATTLE.All those people who designed a grand plan to discredit innocent Dr. Afari Djan would face the FULL wrath of GOD/ALLAH.Dr. Bawumiah swore on the Koran to speak the truth and nothing but the truth.

Mr Parry should not jump the gun until he has read the written decisions and the reasons of the nine Justices. The fact that the petition was dismissed by 5-4 majority does not mean that EC's reputation is intact. That could be far from the truth because the Justices might criticise the EC on its performance as far as the organisation and management of the 2012 Presidential Election was concerned. I will be shocked if Justice Dotse is silent on that because he was on record to have advised EC never to allow a particular electoral official near election officiating again. He is also on record to have said that elections will never be the same in Ghana after the petition. Let's wait and read the decisions before any conclusions are drawn. It is too late.

Fortunately, Dr Afri-Djan's answers in the witness box have been recorded for posterity. I think the Peace Council should call a press conference and call for an end to these unhelpful comments!

Why not use professionals like teachers do the registration and also reps of the EC during the elections instead of people who have very limited education and make all these avoidable errors. We all want peace but sometimes peace comes at a cost.

If anything was wrong, Atuguba would not have dismissed any of the cases as laid down by the petitioners. But if in his own rightful mind he knows that the 2012 elections was flawed, then "atemuda" is right at his door and this time, "atemuda" will carry this man into his graves by the end of the week.

Cancellations, changing figures on pink sheets, duplications, unintelligible figures,etc are indefensible. To me the SC has endorsed illegality and those judges who dismissed all the claims will forever live with their guilty conscience.

The EC can never shy away from the numerous lapses (in the way they run elections) which exposed in the court. That the Judges saw these lapses did not warrant annulment of the result does not in self suggest EC's credibility is rock solid! Which solid rock? Haaba! Is that naked pride or blind rejection of the reality? On the contrary the rock solid loopholes in the EC's structural operations accounted for most of the reasons for the 48-day legal wranglings!

Agitations and suspicions of irregularities would be minimized if such weakness were not there or significantly reduced in the first place.

The wise thing to have come out of the Electoral Commision to Ghanaians was to boldly admit the weaknesses they have and assure the nation electoral reforms would be put in place before the next election. Except they lack the mandate to declare so.

EC cannot escape without some of the blame because their staff displayed sloppiness in some cases thus giving the petitioners some 'weak' chance of making a case of what was simply not there.

EC however did their job as prescribed and did not seek to, nor did they favour anyone in the process.

It just happens that their sloppiness COULD HAVE cost Mahama his presidency if the petition had been carried. It seems to me most people have completely ignored that fact because vote-for-vote the president won the elections. Had their sloppiness allowed the petitioners to win this case, it would also have meant aggravation for the 4 million people who actually sacrificed a whole day (or two in some cases) to cast their VOTES.

Whilst we cannot wholly condemn the EC, they should be careful not to shower praises to themselves as they made mistakes which though not the primary cause of the petition, nonetheless has cost the nation dear and could have cost us even more.

When the NPP decided to wash the dirty linens of our dear nation in broad day light without considering certain factors;

A National Shame. The ghost of Al Gore versus Bush still haunts the USA and this ghost will never go away. In fact, it strolling around during the recent elections in the USA with issues of how black votes are handled.

If it was for electoral reforms, we have had them since 1992.

Remember the elections score board at the Independence Square.

Remember the Ashanti Regional votes used to be called first to give the NPP a false impression they were winning.

Remember the first elections had separate Presidential and Parliamentary voting days.

Remember the introduction of transparent ballot boxes to curb the allegations of filled up boxes before the voting starts in the polling centres.

The bimetric system just like the electronic voting system of the USA in 1999 was bound to introduce certain challenges especially considering the illiteracy rate in Ghana.

Dr. Afari Gyan is not the Constitution of Ghana, so when he declared, no bimetric, no voting, he should have been challenged but it seems some assumed his word as law and the voting pattern of the
Judges shows that the bimetric system is only a process and not a double locked constitutional requirement.

The UK does not use any bimetric system yet they have elections without court procedures, is it because they are perfect? A big NO!

There're problems but they understand the purpose of elections is only to capture the broad choice of the people.

The postal voting of the UK is shrouded in such abuses and fraud and indeed some people have gone to prison for that, yet because of the elderly, all the political parties are scared to be the first to call for it to be scrapped.

Ask me why the elderly.

Dr. Afari Gyan is doing a good job in a very difficult environment.

He is respected very well across Africa and that is not how to treat a National Treasure.

In fact, the Brong Ahafo has once again taken notice and will punish the NPP in subsequent elections.

Those calling for the Great Kofi Annan to take up the post of chairman of the EC are not only disrespectful but want to destroy the reputation of the world acclaimed man.
Ghanaians ask for change but when it comes, they despise it along with the messenger. I worry what will happen to his image if he tries to help in that area.

As true democrats, the NPP should have licked their wounds and requested for reforms they never asked for when in power and prepare for the next elections. Also working to showcase themselves as a possible alternative government to give the electorates a choice in the next elections.

Remember the NPP led four elections under the same EC, headed by Afari Gyan, and won three elections out of that.

There's no where in the world where elections are held without allegations of fraud and indeed underlining pockets of fraud. What can be done is to constantly review every election to minimize them.

The best thing now is to pick and dust ourselves up and move on.

The NPP must stop this Mr. Always Right attitude and focus on rebuilding a tarnished party.

The NDC must rule with firm but fairness and rebuild our traditional morals of honesty, fairness, discipline and love for our nation and people.

The EC have to be left to review and try and conduct the next elections with much openness.

Ghanaians have to show love and creativity and hardworking towards our one and only God blessed, God given Land. We must count ourselves blessed and protect our nation.

EC claiming its credibility is still soild is insulting to Ghanaians intelligence.AS far as the judicially join the alliances for NDC and EC to denial justices with all evidence point to rigging such statement is troubling for EC to claim its image has soild credibility.All political parties should condemn this irresponsible statememt from EC and demonstrate against supreme court dismissal for the petition case and if not this will become a new way of rigging by the ruling party and EC and they will claim they did nothing wrong and this phenomenon will continue.All political parties should put they differences aside and join the crusade to fight the injustices in our judical system and EC.Without going to street to demonstrate no reform will take place.DEMONSTRATION DEMONSTRATION DEMONSTRATION.
