  This is the best approach to control malaria but in Ghana we rather believe in curative medicine than preventive medicine that is our major problem hence, our inability to effectively control malaria in Ghana.

  Yes, larval control in malria prevention is the best measure. However,the cost of it & commitment by stake holders has rendered this measure to be “prevention being worst than cure“ we should change our attitudes!

  It is not uncommon for a visitor to Ghana to observe the poor drainage system of many houses, especially, in the less affluent neighborhoods.
  
  Drains which have become local trash bins are a common sight. The vector-laden stinky water that manage to wend its way through trashy gutters at times get completely choked with industrial wastes during the course of its journey. The constant insult to one's visual and olfactory senses is at times beyond description.
  
  O, how amphibious insects love such habitats!
  
  Solution
  
  1. A change in issuing building permits must come, and it starts with the Ministry of Lands and Housing. No house plan is to receive a permit for construction without a proper drainage system.
  
  2. The Ministry of Health is to check health hazards in residential and public areas, and impose punitive actions if the cited problems are not corrected within a given time.
  
  3. Educating the citizenry on civic pride of keeping streets and drains free from rubbish will greatly affect the flow rate of the drainage system, and reduce vector habitats.

  You are absolutely right - prevention is better than cure.
  
  Point 3 is the key - educate the public to keep their environment clean. People should stop dropping litter, proper drainage and sanitation should be paramount.

  Malaria can be easily controlled if not eliminated through changes in habits for the better.
