"If age doesn't matter or count, then why should Ghana RETIRE Civil Servants at 6o years old?" Why can't a teacher teach Geography or History or Social Science at age 60, BUT a politician can stick around up to 70, 75 or even 80 and what about 89—excuse me AKORA & tooth-brush mustachioed Mugabe??

If a teacher's or a police officer's or an administrator at the ministries mind is TOO WEAK or not TOO SHARP to function, then how the hell do you convince us that an MP, a Cabinet Minister or a President can function properly and soundly with an advanced age of 70, 75, and beyond? What goods are you selling us, Negro??

Because of stupidity and foolishness of the Ghanaian political system, they retire healthy, sharp and experienced teachers and other civil servants at 60 just to turn around and complain that they don’t have “enough qualified teachers to teach” or experienced workers. How DUMB could you be not to just INCREASE the retirement age from 60 to say 65? The 60 was designed by Mr. BOBO (Whiteman) during the colonial times and, damn it, it's high time to change it.

See, “life expectancy” at that time was very low and medicine and good sanitation weren’t up to snuff (i.e., not too good) and, lastly, they wanted the Whiteman to retire early, go back to Europe, spend the last few years of their lives, die there (in Europe not in Africa) and be buried there. Can’t the Negro understand this simple social engineering and gymnastics in colonial days by Mr. BOBO?? When will the Negro grow up and learn?

Let the structures relating to electing flag-bearers of the NPP be allowed to select the best for the party, rather than jumping the gun to determine who are qualified and who are not.

The most embarrassing part was when the village head said they will build new shrine for the dead fish and worship it? I was embarrassed as a black African, when I watched the news on TVC international news, where the Ghanaian correspondent of the station, Eunich Egyare, was telling the whole world in her report with pride that Ghanaian have got a new 'god' in the DEAD WHALE, (which one of the native Head at Kokobrite beach, called it one of their 'ancestors.'

A dead and stinking whale washed ashore in Ghana, has now become a new 'god' that people are now worshiping in Ghana, and pouring libation for it. How embarrassing at this day and age, when scientists are exploring a new horizont and discovering new things, yet some Africans in Ghana are now bowing down to worship a 'DEAD AND ROTTING WHALE?' In Ghana, we don't elect our Presidents by Regions.

Obama has won two elections in USA by winning less states than his two Republican opponents but he won the big States like California, New York, Ohio, Florida and Penssyvania.

It is not how many regions you win but how many people that votes for you that determines how you win an election in Ghana unlike in USA where Al Gore won more popula votes, or many people voted for him than George Bush but he lost because of the USA electoral system.

He took almost three(3) years to campaign for election 2012, only to be beaten by an enegertic, youthful and handsome man in the person of President Mahama who took only forty(40) days of campaigning to beat him. At age 72 by 2016, not only will Nana be too old to manage the country but, he will be weak both physically and mentally. Sir John is just propping up Nana foolishly in order to keep his own shaky position.

We were in power with a splendid record – international goodwill, a slashing of the national debt from an unsustainable to a sustainable level, repeal of criminal libel, an explosion in credit for small businesses, a five-fold expansion of the economy, slashing of inflation from 50% to around 12%,; infrastructure development, etc etc. We chose Nana Addo and lost to a man most thought was unelectable as president – JEA Mills. Mills record was so bad that JAK destroyed him in the central region in the 200 and 2004 electionsyet he beat Akufo Addo in 2008

Nana Addo came along and we lost all the regions we won in 2000 and 2004 save Asante and Eastern. We lost Parliamentary majority and it got worse in 2012. Our votes are shrinking badly across the key regions we need.

Ghanaians keep telling us the man they want is Alan Kyeremateng but the Party insists on taking Akufo Addo. We have indulged him for 6 years. We are facing another defeat in 2016 if we go with him. We will be in opposition to about 2020 or 2024 thanks to Akufo- Addo. We must drop him now and go for Alan

As a lecturer, I expected him to lay out an imperical evidence like a survey to butress his argument rather than his opinion!!

Being a president is NOT a MARATHON RACE where physical vigor is abosolute, therefore a "youth" being an ideal candidate. Instead, an older EXPERIENCED POLITICIAN (both in the local and foriegn sphere) will be more appropriate, and Nana Addo fits that qualification. A president does delegate his activities via the Executive so being "experienced" makes much sense than being "youthful".

To test this scenario, we don't need to go any far than the examples of the likes of Okudjeto Ablakwas, Fiifi Kwerteys, Ofosu Kwakyes, victoria Hammahs, and Baba Jamals abysmal performances.

There's an Akan saying that, "One is better off using an experienced emissary to do errands rather than a person with longer legs". A youth who can be "here and there" all the time yet, no sense of purpose due to lacking of experience will be tantamount to waste of our time. Older Ronald Reagan did not waste Americans time, but YOUNGER George W. Bush...hmmm eveybody knows what he brought onto the US!!! So hero Lecturer Kwesi Amakye!!!

1- He was given a stool to stand on and be noticed during the presidential debate; a move that inhibited his movement, dictated his body language and unfortunately made him look like a programmed robbot.
2-Now he is going to be 72 in 2016 and age has caught up with him. Should he be the flag bearer of NPP, not only would he request for the robotic inducing stool but a stick to keep him upright. If not, then a wheelchair elevated to the height of a pulpit. I won't talk about the kind of eye glasses to be designed for him.
The question is would the NPP want to go through all these troubles? May be there is nobody in the party endowed with the characteristics of the office of the president after Kuffour eand Nana Addo.

The NPP party being the democratic party that it is, has laid down procedures in electing their flag bearer and the delegates we believe have what it takes to elect a strong candidate who is well liked by the majority of Ghanaians, has been effectively groomed to lead the party and by extension the country, is affable, has not got any undue excess baggage, commands the needed respect amongst the opposition parties and amongst the NPP members, sympathizers and floating voters and he also respects the electorate and their views and opinions, and is prepared to put his shoulder to the wheel to get the good done, taking cognizance of the fact that, the process is a laborious, energy sapping time consuming process, which really takes it's toil on the individual.
Ghanaians believe and trust that, the largest opposition party would take the right steps and live up to the expectation of the confidence the electorate has reposed in them, as a credible alternative to the wanton corruption, incompetence and crass ineptitude which has been visited on all facets of their lives by the NDC party/gov't headed by the Mahama-Amissah Arthur administration.

CAN A “FUNNY” MAN BECOME PRESIDENT IN GHANA?

Indeed, there is no school where one can major in “Presidential Politics” to become President of a Republic, but there are many schools where one can major in “Politics”. To be an effective politician, one must have a record of accomplishment as a leader/executive, be politically astute and able to relate well to voters and other elected officials, be a motivational team builder and inspire mutual trust and confidence, Be an excellent communicator, good at listening, speaking, and writing, be trustworthy, genuine, and sincere, be a consensus builder who appreciates and encourages differences of opinion but can forge synthesis from divergent views, and have the skills to encourage involvement and inclusiveness.

The battle of political parties, issues, and morals invites debates among the general public, nationwide over which candidate it supports in the next December election. Whether, National Democratic Congress (NDC), Convention People’s Party (CPP), People’s National Convention (PNC), or NPP, debates over the National Health Insurance Scheme, the “Kayayei Initiatives”, or the naïve free SHS politicking policy; there have always been multiple competing for the votes and minds of Ghanaians.

But what if the issues did not matter or affect the outcome of the election? Trends appear to indicate that candidates are elected not only on their positions on the economy, health care, and education, but also and largely on factors such as likability, their physical attributes their psychological and societal elements. One factor that is normally hard to estimate yet appears to be fundamental is how pleasant and physically attractive the candidate is, I do not mean that the candidate must be funny; because being funny means not being focused or serious. Likable in the sense that at the end of the way, the choice has everything to do with whom you could invite over for dinner!

Another interesting example of how big a role physical attractiveness and age may play in the election of a president is how taller the candidate is. This advantage may largely be based on the fact that appearance is noteworthy. Studies have demonstrated that tall politicians plainly stand out from the crowd; thus an increased height is also associated with strong leadership, dominant and confident character which are qualities that most voters would like to see in a Supreme Commander, a Head of State. In general, people vote for the most powerful looking individual who can protect them and defend the country by all means and at any time even during major crisis. Funny people are considered too vague in their policies and not serious.

A great leader has SMART goals and leads with confidence. A great leader functions in an orderly and purposeful manner in situations of uncertainty. A great leader cannot get scared when he/she goes in front of people to state the fact, including when the situation is caused by an act of God. A great leader keeps the main goals in focus. A great leader is committed to excellence. Great leaders remain calm and are tolerant. A great leader listens to the needs of the people. And I believe Ghana currently has such a great leader who is executing the agenda of the people. Funny men should stay away because this is not the time to play game. We need a great leader in Ghana to continue to lead us even in time of crisis.

The NPP have three more years to groom a young intelligent political science major to lead them in 2016. I know it is BA's turn just as the Ashanti kingship rotates. It was Busia then Kufour and now Akufo-Addo. He does not understand why Ghanaians have rejected him twice. The reason is simple. One, he is too short and ugly; two, he will fail any health physical test because of what he had inhaled for years. No amount of detox can bring him back with clear health record. Let him tell Ghanaians why he refused admission in London hospital when he was rushed there for treatment. Did his personal medical specialist required more time healing him in the plane by going through Germany?. Did he advise staying away from the hospital for fear of telling the world the type of illness? Nana, tell Ghanaians that you still think of leading the type of illness you went to London for and refused hospitalization. This is your firs test before thinking politics in the near future.
