  Lung cancers are diagnosed late in most patients as the first signs of symptoms such as coughing and pains are mistaken for pneumonia . When somebody is exposed to asbestos for sometime it will take 30 to 50 years for this exposure to asbestos to be manifest to lung cancer. So we see it isn't only cigarette smokers that suffer from lung cancers, but professional painters and workers in the building sectors stand a higher risk of lung cancers when they don't wear mask during their working years. I have family member who is non-smoker and after 50 years of working as professional painter in Europe has been diagnosed of having a lung cancer and doctors say he has just one year to live. Lung cancer can't be cured unlike most cancers where u have the option between operations, radio-therapy and chemotherapy. As a oral/dental nurse i have encountered all kinds of cancer patients. All cancer patients are battling hard with their diagnoses.
