Pratt's opinion is about popularity within the NPP as of now and he chooses Nana Akufo-Addo to be the winner if there were a contest today.
There are lots of facts in this proclamation, and Pratt did not conclude that winning NPP popularity is a guarantee that Nana could win Presidential election on NPP ticket, on a third attempt.

Pratt said, "...I am not sure if the same can be said for Ghana...but within the NPP, I have no doubt at all that he is perhaps the most popular person within the party".

What may have made Nana more popular in the NPP is that the entire party have elected him twice as NPP presidential candidate, seriously campaigned and spent lots of money on his behalf to win the contested elections, which he failed, but became known and popular. In those endeavors, I believe, many of Nana's supporters have "chopped" and grown fat on his money more than any NPP presidentail aspirant. Some people may not want him to run again, but that does not take away his popularity in NPP.

On this pragmatic analysis who disagrees with Kwesi Pratt and takes awway Nana's popularity within the NPP.

This is a typical type of progressive articles & positive comments I have been expecting to read here on GhanaWeb since 1994.
Pity that we can't promote our own local brewed Pan Africanism (many of our politicians even don't know the real meaning of these words), but we rather copywrite those systems which were imported & imposed on us by force. The results are: all these after-election fights & power hungry to rule.
In fact we (Ghana) need now to put behind the waste-time political challenge races & focus on the development & prosperity of Ghana within Africa.
It's time ripe that our 'do-little ministers' convince the masses that they're elected & compitent to serve the nation & it's populace.

Even if the recent "sympathetic" articles are crafted to restore some of the Little Guy's puny ego and safe his unprepossessing face, they can be misleading. The Old Unemployable Clown should go into hiding to ponder what he is going to do for a living, and how he is going to repay his debts.

It is disappointing to realize that some commentators still can't figure out that the one factor that dragged the NPP down to defeat in the last election was Akufo Addo. His looks and personality are simply unfavourable and annoying. If the NPP fields that Quack again in 2016, they would be guaranteeing the NDC a much easier victory.

Pratt makes a lot of sense on this matter. When it comes to Ghanaian politics, popularity matters a lot. By all standards,It can safely be said that Akuffo Addo is the most popular person in the NPP (Not my party though)Therefore if Akuffo Addo decides to context anybody on the primary level for the 2016 flabearership, he can easily win but that is not to say that his winning can be translated to a win on the national level. For that to happen, he really need to do a couple of thins such as (A) Eschew violent language on the campaign trail (B)Let people understand that he is uniting figure and not a symbol for Akan supremacy.I'm a full blooded Akan but i believe that era is dead and gone. (c)He should candidly address any controversy and allegations that will arise on the campaign trail regarding his personal habbits, whether womanizing or drug use. He should put arrogance to the back seat and deal adress it because Ghanaians are becoming politically matured and they cannot be taken for granted. (D) He need to employ young people non violent people to sell his ideas to the voters. With the level of our thinking, there is no doubt that most people need a lot of education on critical isues confronting our nation. If Akuffo Addo can do these things he can easily win in 2016 and that is only if his party can trust him enough to give him the nod. Bythe way, my party is CPP and when i become chairman of the CPP in the near future, i will ask our followers to give me ABU SAKARA and i will make him the President of the republic in 4 years.
